Hi Robbie. Yes, actually there’s a few comments coming in, suggesting that maybe I’ve done the Katana Air a dis-service. One watcher actually sold their Katana Artist because the Air gives them exactly what they want! So yes, maybe I need to be more open minded 🤣
So i come to this video to check out the comparison between the 2 amps.... Then you start playing....... Wait...Why was I here? I must stay. Creamy, sweet licks just draw me in like a tractor beam. 04.Aug/2022 Thank you! If you are looking for a Bluetooth pedal that can control the Katana Air, here's some clarification: When switching the sound from crunch in mode 2 to clean with the Airstep BW on the panel, the Xsonic Airstep BW needs up to 1 second to switch from crunch to clean sound, which is too long for me personally! The Airstep Update App also runs stable on Android, but the update almost always fails! I can only recommend the Airstep BW if you accept that the switching time is 1 second when switching to the clean channel on the Katana Air's panel. The problem is not with the amp but with the Xsonic Airstep BW Bluetooth controller pedal. Besides this one latency switching problem, the Airstep BW controller is very good! *Xsonic manufacturers: Can you fix this issue in the next update? So for room use? I've purchase the THR yamaha but I returned it, too boxy sound for me. For practice/home use? Boss katana 100 setted at low watt can be a good choice over the air and even the 50 mk? I heard that 100 watt version has better speakers.

Thanks for doing the comparison. I bought the Air but later got it exchanged in favour of the 100mk2 for the same reason. The only downside of the 100 is the AUX in sound quality. They could have thrown in a little tweeter in there to make the AUX in sound a bit better. In terms of purely the guitar sound though, it’s brilliant.

I was going to buy a katana air. I need an amp for home use only. Then I saw your video and a Katana 50 mk2 seems to make more sense in terms of tone etc. Cheaper too and can use boss pedals to change presets. I have other devices to stream jam tracks to. Would I be making the right choice to get the 50! I’d never need 100 watts. Cheers 👍🏼🎸

Paul Stafford Cook Yes ! The WAZA speaker along with a bigger cabinet is the difference. Plus I like controls on the face of the amp instead of the top. Both are awesome amps !

Hi Simon cab. Thanks for your detailed comment! It just goes to show that we’re all different and we all want different things. On hindsight, I can see how you feel the Katana Air has more presence and clarity..... and how you feel the Artist (and probably the 100 combo too) was a bit dull by comparison. I guess I like darker tones - I see them as “warm”. And I see the Air as too thin and trebly. But that’s just because I have a pre-conceived idea of the sonic arena I’m aiming for, and it tends to be the darker, thicker type of tone. Anyway, your comment is very helpful and reminds me that my opinions are very tainted by my ideals. Interesting! Cheers

Hi Kevin, thanks for subscribing, delighted you like my wee videos 👍. Yes, good question! The Artist is the one Katana where the general consensus is that it sounds even nicer than the normal Katana 100. Probably the Waza speaker? I have seen enough UA-cam comparisons to believe this to be true. But there’s not a big difference.... just enough of a difference to be perceived by the player. I keep popping in to my local guitar store to see if I can try one, but there’s never one in stock, frustratingly. And I agree that the front mounted buttons are a better idea. But the price..... that’s the reason the Artist isn’t the big “hit” the 100 is. But yes, if you can afford the Artist, then I’d hazard a guess to say you won’t regret spending the extra. Will I buy one? No, the 100 is SO good, that I don’t think I’ll bother. I’m happy to stick with my 100 (MK1). Hope this helps

That said, I DO love the sound of an SG.... mahogany body, Gibson know-how and great pickups.... what’s not to like. I did a video a couple of months back, reviewing an Epiphone SG.... Hi Roro5454 😀. Bonjour. I don’t know what you mean by “médiums”.... Maybe you’re talking about Bass/Middle/Treble and that the Katana 50 has too much Middle? Anyway, all I can say is that I’ve tried the 50, side by side with the 100, and I instantly preferred the 100.... I think the bigger box in the 100 just makes it sound better. Hope this helps. Merci for watching 👍

Hi, sorry for my late reply. Actually, I’ve never used Tone Studio, I don’t have a computer, and would know how to install a program for the Katana..... I’ve always just used my Katana like a valve amp - I just plug in, twist knobs until it sounds good, and that’s it. Hope this helps 😀
Sorry but the Air is a HEAD and the build in speaker is just for practice. Connect the Air to an 12er Combo or even bigger and you will have the full Benefit of connecting without cables. Comparing a Head with an Combo Amp doesn't make any sense
Really? I’d never thought of the Air as an amp head. My understanding is that it’s a combo, albeit a practice combo. As a head I don’t think it would be very good. And it certainly wouldn’t compare well to a Katana 100 head.
I'm starting to hit 'like' on these videos before they start because I know it's going to sound sweeeeet.

Cheers Don, delighted you liked my wee vid 😀
Nice one mate.
Thank you songline Art 🙏
I was wondering why dont you have gibson SG. Dont you like it?
Hi Aristonyt. Well spotted. I agree, an SG is conspicuous by its absence 🤣. Yes, I’ve never liked the look of it..... and the neck seems like a mile long when I look down whilst playing it.... so no, the SG is not my thing. That said, I DO love the sound of an SG.... mahogany body, Gibson know-how and great pickups.... what’s not to like. I did a video a couple of months back, reviewing an Epiphone SG.... And I have to say, I was genuinely impressed by the value for money aspect. Cheers for watching 👍
🔥🔥🔥
Thank you 🙏
Great, Paul!!!!!
Thank you Luís 👍
Hello i have the 50 but there are too much médiums what do you thing about That ? Sorry for my bad english. I m french
,
Hi Roro5454 😀.
Thank you for answer , yes i want to say too Much. Middle And i must down middle at 2 oclock 100 w is strong for play in my room at home . CAN you show à day how install. Program for katana. On pc. Slowly ?,, Driver and others programs many thanks
The same old story. There is not a good ampli. Just exist a good guitar player😅
Thanks paolodeantoni 👍
Guys, keep your wives away from this video...
Thanks Denis 🤣👍
Sorry but the Air is a HEAD and the build in speaker is just for practice. Connect the Air to an 12er Combo or even bigger and you will have the full Benefit of connecting without cables.
Comparing a Head with an Combo Amp doesn't make any sense
Really? I’d never thought of the Air as an amp head. My understanding is that it’s a combo, albeit a practice combo. As a head I don’t think it would be very good. And it certainly wouldn’t compare well to a Katana 100 head.
