Just explore and READ ITEM DESCRIPTIONS. You can follow up your wild swings Ashe of War by pressing light or heavy attack. Only way to know that is to read the Ashe of war’s description etc.

Reduvia is a dagger that you should use as a plan B. It’s saved my ass hundreds of times during boss fights and invasions. Plan C is a staff and any spell that follows enemies.

You can take the dragons out on horseback. Fightincowboy shows a off horseback strat but i find hitting the wings and avoiding his breath attacks make it easier ,

It's tough when he needs guidance, but is torn between people genuinely trying to help, trolls, and advice that isn't helpful to him as a new player. As entertaining as the rage compilations are, I'd rather get fewer and him actually finish the game.
This game is way bigger than Tim thinks. I can't wait till he gets to some of the later bosses. I am still surprised chat didn't send him to Caelid yet though. My suggestion to him when fighting dragons is to stay on Torrent and stay under the dragon.
