I lot of people would have let internet fame get to them at this stage, but your still doing weirdo things like the head bob and asking people to please stay after you tell them the secret. Your still just you. Hope that gift of fatherhood is one you get the most out of.
Great stuff, Guy. I've been using a very similar recipe for some time now - the only difference is I use half a pipette full of acrylic flow improver instead of dish soap. A bit more expensive yes, but doesn't foam up.
As smiley, wholesome and entertaining as ever. Take a bow and gird your loins for the wonderful, sleep-deprived first few months of bringing new lives into the world. Take care and good luck to both of you.
Absolutely brilliant. Thank you for this video it genuinely answered a couple questions I've had for a while now. Most importantly, CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a Dad. It is the coolest gig on the planet if you ask me.
Good video! If you don't use medium at a high rate then consider using distilled water to keep things nice and neutral. I also use flow-aid from Liquitex instead of dish soap. Less bubbles. 10-1 ratio of water to flow-aid, then 1:1 matt medium to your special water. Little more expensive but it's *really* really nice goop that lasts a long time.
@@hoshi314 You didn't get a response so I'm just going to say this - Probably. You'll have to try it and test to confirm. *Most* art supply acrylics are compatible with each other for the purpose of mixing things. They *may not* be compatible with your stuff made for modelling though. One example I know of off the top of my head, because I keep abusing it, is that vallejo's medium is not compatible with daler rowney's acrylic ink medium. I found that one the hard way as it kept clumping and clogging my airbrush. There is a useful way to abuse it though. Let's say, on your wet palette, you brush mix a bit of vallejo red ink and a bit of fw yellow ink. You get an orangey mix that will go on with splotchy colors. Mostly orangeish with red and yellow splotchy areas. This can be abused for the purpose of color modulation. I happen to know the tamiya stuff is some kinda weird chemistry and doesn't like to play well with others in general too. Note though that this information applies to mixing wet acrylic mediums. I have never had a problem with compatibility when putting something on top of a dry acrylic. There may be something on the market out there that will cause problems though.
This made me start using my vallejo thinner medium for stuff other than airbrushing. I wouldn't thin literally everything with medium but for glazes, especially mixed glazes it's just way better than water, behaves well on a wet palette as well.
Congrats on the twins! And thanks for a super helpful and great video, guy Whilst I'm not going to say no to content, also glad to hear you guys are taking the time during such a special and important stage. Stay safe and take care
Guy, I've gotta say those Blood Angels Terminators with the red glaze touch up, perfection. They were just a smidge brown before but now they look absolutely amazing, the details were fantastic regardless.
I've had some issues with using tap water to thin paints and acrylic thinner tends to either wash them out too much or dries too fast. Tried this out with Vallejo matte medium and it's almost magical. The coverage is amazing and it makes the paints act almost like contrast paints which again is amazing for zenithal base coats. Thank you very much!
"DIY" in this case means use a product specifically formulated for this purpose but not universally known within the mini world. BTW, instead of soap, try flow aid from the same manufacturer. It does the same thing with less extra additives that aren't needed.
It'd be handy to have the various recipes inside one video at some point - some sort of big hobby supplies video with an Amazon list - for folks like me who love bulk-buying :D

Hey Guy! I found your channel a few weeks ago when I was looking to get back into mini painting. I love your videos. Your tips are super accessible for newbies and I love these sorts of money-saving hacks. I also love Penny's reactions to some of the sillier/incredibly stupid parts of WH40k. Since my family is from Chicago, I of course did the human team as the Bears. They turned out great, but it took some experimenting to properly mix up a Dark Navy color (using Army Painter paints). I was wondering if you had any tips on mixing paints? Like an easy way to find the right ratio of bottle drops? (Any other viewers, like if you'd also like to see this video!) Thanks, Sara
