- hey everyone!! so, i know this is EXTREMELY late (like extremely, i really have no excuse). buuuuuut i still wanted to put it out there because move-in was such a special time and it was so fun for me to look back and edit this video. now that my classes are over i have a lot more time on my hands and will be posting regularly (think one video a week) from now on so yay!

To people talking about how "not great" the rooms are for Harvard...
1. They have their own bathroom. A lot of other schools have it worse.
2. Harvard is old. Their buildings have been around for a while so they are not going to be super spacious.
Not every room has its own bathroom. I stayed there last summer and my suite had 5 rooms sharing 1 bathroom along with another suite.

What y’all don’t understand is that Harvard’s dorms aren’t that nice because it’s been around since the late 1800s. It quite old.

The yard (where freshmen live) is the oldest part of the entire campus, they aren't going to change it too much. the houses for upperclassmen are renovated and much nicer

Music Some places are historically listed sites and some parts of the outside of the buildings can’t be renovated.
Music true. I mean for people saying it’s cultural and protected, while that is true after a certain age buildings will start to get really unsafe and with all the people in it, you would think they would at least renovate it to keep it safe

Thats great! Just remember to especially keep your grades high in high school. That’s what really counts when applying for college! :)

I think those videos are absolutely the most helpful in terms of getting an insight on how real, genuine, and thoughtful we should be in our essays (and not at all for the purpose of plagiarism). Im saying telling someone they have the same chances as joining an Ivy by woking really hard compared to kids whose parents donated a lot of money is not realistic. Yale got into trouble because authorities found they gave a much higher preference to applicants whose parents "donated" money to the school compared to other ones.

On the other hand, only 14% of Harvard students are legacies and out of that 14%, only 10% paid the school to attend out of which only 40% got in. The average familial income at Harvard is $168k but since Harvard is need-blind, if you get in and apply for financial aid and if your family earns less than $65k a year, you get a full scholarship, no questions asked. In fact, 60% of all Harvard students receive financial aid from the school. Not everyone at Harvard is rich, and the majority got in because of their smarts. If you get into Harvard and your family is poor, then you're gonna get a 100% scholarship to attend.

I got accepted into a summer program at Harvard last year. The dorms don’t have air conditioning 🙄 but I think the hogwarts dining hall makes up for it

As a college student, I think this room is way better than most college dorms out there. This one has light, space, and multiple rooms. I live in a small triple with windows that can't close :D I've also stayed at Stanford before and it's not that much better

A lot of colleges don't only care about your grades. They also like to see that you are involved. Student Council, Drama Club, a sport, debate club (my school doesn't have this), they like to see you doing volunteering too. Maybe at the homeless shelter, an animal rescue center, the red cross, ect.
