  • Use a GPS directly connected to QGIS to get "accurate" positions for your field collection.
For this to work your GPS needs to put out NMEA on a serial interface. That can be a traditional serial port, some form of USB/serial adapter or a serial port emulated through USB and software. Most GPS devises can do one or more of these options.
You could also connect through a bluetooth serial port...

Very instructive video Klas, thanks for doing it. I got a bluetooth GPS connected to my FZ-M1 (Panasonic) tablet working and talking to QGis. A critical step to collect field information.
    Thanks

Thanks for the tutorial is there a way to offset a point say 90 degrees 75 feet when inserting a point?

I recently discovered that my Toughbook CF-U1 has onboard GPS and I found this video to be very helpful. Thank you.
P.S. it looks like you live near Agnetha Fältskog's hometown. :)

How do you want to connect?
There are remote desktop apps if that is what you want.
If you somehow set up QGIS to store GPS to a database, you could theoretically set up a data service that show the current tracks on a map.
There's no easy, built in solution in QGIS though.
