- Use a GPS directly connected to QGIS to get "accurate" positions for your field collection.
For this to work your GPS needs to put out NMEA on a serial interface. That can be a traditional serial port, some form of USB/serial adapter or a serial port emulated through USB and software. Most GPS devises can do one or more of these options.
You could also connect through a bluetooth serial port...
Very instructive video Klas, thanks for doing it. I got a bluetooth GPS connected to my FZ-M1 (Panasonic) tablet working and talking to QGis. A critical step to collect field information.
Thanks
Thankyou! Trying to work out how to save the GPS live track line was driving me crazy...
Thanks for the tutorial is there a way to offset a point say 90 degrees 75 feet when inserting a point?
I recently discovered that my Toughbook CF-U1 has onboard GPS and I found this video to be very helpful. Thank you.
P.S. it looks like you live near Agnetha Fältskog's hometown. :)
hello ,can we use it with data collected via rpi and fed to qgis
Can I connect my smartphone with qgis from a remote place, to check GPS track?
How do you want to connect?
There are remote desktop apps if that is what you want.
If you somehow set up QGIS to store GPS to a database, you could theoretically set up a data service that show the current tracks on a map.
There's no easy, built in solution in QGIS though.
