That intro about getting kicked off the family health insurance had me in tears 😂😂😭😭
Hey man, great video!
Used to watch lots of your videos like 5 years ago, and I remember mentioning that you should definitely do a video about Knights, which I think you replied that you would for sure, and that it would be epic.
Life went on and I've been kinda out of the youtube world, but today I see this recommendation popping up on the home page and I instantly know there is absolutely no chance this video ain't about Knights of Cydonia. Keep keeping it real my dude, glad to see you are still spreading the word
Oh wow that is an epic chord progression. So much tension and relief!
Yesssss! I certainly can't think of a song more deserving of this title tbh. Such a fun one to play! Interesting to see you break it down :) Muse definitely have the best riffs!
Thanks for pointing this out! I'm a huge Muse fan but I never noticed how awesome this modulation is because it's so gradual.
Probably the most epic song by my favourite band of all time. Gotta say you have excellent taste Sean. Hope to see even more Muse in the future
Airbag by radiohead is probably my favorite chord progression. Nowhere near as epic or complicated but I love how dissonant and chromatic it as while stile maintaining a lot of emotion. That riff and solo as well...
This video was epic. I’ve watched it twice now! I’m a Sean and Muse fan.
An interesting chord progression. I will have to watch it for a month to really understand it. Thanks for the explanation of the best chord progression.
I had to go listen to this after seeing you untangle the chord progression. What an insane song, but a great one!!
It's not just an epic chord progression, it also has one of the most epic music videos of all time! Rock on Sean 🤘
When you first said Muse I paused the video and tried to guess which song you would say. I guessed Explorers, even though it is a piano song. But I love the declining chord progression on that one! KoC is such a “pop” song that I would have never uncovered the epic chord progression myself! Great video. Muse are one of my all time favorites 🎸
You are epic just being able to explain. Your fantastic for being able to play it. Well Done 👍 👏👏👏👏👏
Cool vid, it made me grab my guitar and play the song too! Thanks!
Well, I was wanting a chord progression to practice and this something interesting. I watched it through the Cordify app, which shows me the chord charts in real time. I can also slow it down to help your words sink in. I’m going to give this my best shot for a week, try to learn this. Thanks!
Hi Sean! Great vid. Great progression. I also really love Beck’s « Lazy Flies ».
I used to hear this song in a guitar hero game and afterwards it would always play in my head so vividly to where I felt like I could actually hear it
Thanks
Omg.. I never listened to anything like this 🔥
I’m definitely using this in at least one of my songs
Dude I Love MUSE
One of my favorite Bands, their live Performances are unmatched. I have seen hundreds of stage performances.
i used to work in the Live Event industry installing Stages and other equipment.
MUSE is something else when it comes to a performance and Live Sound.
Good chord progression to learn
great stuff
I'm checking myself once, I'm checking myself twice. I was checking for Sean to start saying the chords name in that falsetto. My girlfriend refer to mariachi trumpets as "spanish pam-pararam"
I watched the Knights of Cydonia music video, the one with 34 million views. I like it! Also, I think I now have some insight into the epic musical super hero fantasy rattling around in the mind of our intrepid instructor, Sean. Dude, what if...
Omg, I just had a light bulb moment, thanks Sean!!
Really neat how it subtly changes keys
I have some strange toe cheese that is definitely more epic than any riff ever, but that aside, this was truly an enlightening breakdown of a song I have heard, but never listened to.
Gotta go digest this - was not familiar with this song until now. I love chord progressions that aren’t locked into keys. I suggest a listen to “The Time Machine” by The Brunson Theater for some fun changes.
I wouldn't describe that first Eb chord as Eb but D# with D# suggesting the leading note into Eminor, strictly it would be a D#dim chord but the fact it's a straight up power chord makes it sound more rocky and cool. The Ab can also be called a G# which makes more theoretical sense, suggesting a mutation to E major. Not 100% on this second bit and doubt that Muse were that deliberate with the theory and more likely just exploring with feel.
I didn't get it but im learning the chord progression
Al Hirt / Honey in the Horn. I played trumpet for four years as a kid. All I remember is, FACE/ EVERY GOOD BOY DOES FINE & 1,2,3,4-2,2,3,4-3,2,3,4 & 4,2,3,4. I haven't heard anyone on UA-cam use that count. Give Doc Severinsen a listen. Thanks for the lessons. Health Care For All. Strum On kiddo. PEACE
My Son and I used to tag team this song on Guitar Hero to get through it.
This is truly epic😂
I've never paused and clicked off a video so fast
Is there a video on all the chord number progression to learn 1-15
I just accidentally learned stuff!
Biggest problem! Putting the phone somewhere I can see it to read the chord sequence while my arm moves all around the neck!! Might stick it to the wall...
That's a good progression but check out Dirty Boy by Cardiacs. It's pretty mind blowing also.
Epic progression. Just by Radiohead is up there too.
You are hilarious!
I guess I've been living under a rock for a long time... never heard of this song or group... with all that said... I know squat about guitar much less the right notes to play when. But I want to lean for some reason. I must admit i watched the video and when you got to the part about why are you still watching i was like well you were doing such a good job explaining. So I went and watched the music video [official and live] live is more gooder. Maybe I'll figure this music/guitar thing out one day. Great video I think it is teaching me some of the right notes to play next I just have to figure out the system.
Not sure if I get the joke. Haha (laughing nervously)
YASSS MUSSSEEEEE
That intro tho😭
Modulation taken to the absurd.
What album is this on? I still collect CDs, lol
Is that a reverse Andalusian progression???
See also Mike Oldfield's 'Incantations'. Part 1 is in NO key, because it just keeps going through the cycle of fifths, so you can never pin it down.
Hallelujah is >
30 seconds in a; supermassive black hole.
Yeh I would say Blackholes and Revelations is their best album.
Is this the actual most epic chord progression? Or just a tribute?
Couldn't REMEMBERRRRRR the greatest chord progression in the worrrrrllldddd
This is not the greatest chord progression ever written, this is just a tribute.
I gonna try learn this now..... This is a real challenge... Right?
Ah, I don't know. I'm think'n that's a bit of a stretch.
Steely Dan?😜
I don't understand a freaking thing he's saying. The sixth chord to the 4th to the 1 chord, then back to the 4th, then an Eb. What I'm gathering is you can use any combination of chords in a song whether they're in the same key or not. Just mix and match...... or just mix.
What he means is it's the same chord pattern over and over, BUT the key keeps changing.
I hit "like" but I'm not happy about it. Stay safe
So did you *instantly* regretted the decision sitting next to Mariarchi band, or was it one minute later? Make up your mind Sean.
SEAN ! Sounds Like something from Europe's ""40 FINGERs GROUP"" ? And U Need to Re-Teach and Re-Teach: The Bared "B Major" CORD ! Bare The 1st FRET ! for Those of us who Cant Bend our Finger Flat for 3 Strings ! Ol West
not gonna lie, i thought muse was lame at the start of this video...
I have been surprised to go back to songs I thought were lame poser hairband crap from the 80's and realize they were actually brilliant. Some pop songs, too. It is humbling.
Sorry I never heard of muse
Shut up Sean 😄 Roy orbison in dreams best chord progression
So u can only have minor 4th when in a minor key
Saw the title and it had to be The Beatles, yet its not so the title is clickbait.
Admittedly have not heard the song but not really impressing me over anything Radiohead from hearing this.
Why don't you listen to the song then before you say it's not impressive?
@@titodameron4631 is this video about the song...or the chord progression? Isn't this the chord progression in question that he's playing? So wouldn't it be reasonable that a person can hear the chord progression being played and compare it to other known progressions?
I've been holding back but I just gotta say it. That Taylor sounds like a lemon from the factory. Is that why they sent it to you for free Sean? Seriously, it sound thin and voiceless. Anyone else? It could be the recording but I don't think so.
Hmmmm, I bet you actually learned this from playing Rocksmith...LOL
Dont be fooled, there are better chord progressions out there than this.
Epic or pretentious?
Meh...it's not bad but come on, it's kind of samey.
I’ve never really been turned on to a group via a guitar tutorial but damn Muse is something else. New fan
Dude you’re gonna love them for life
how's your first year as a muse fan? great?
I've been a fan since their Showbiz era, and today, showbiz and muscle museum are still in my playlist.
have a nice day
