The reason why people think the ending sucks is because what everyone expected to happen didn't happen. But that doesn't necessarily make the ending a bad ending, because if you look at it from a different perspective, there was a lot of unresolved tension and had the ending been the way the mass wanted to, the problems would not have been resolved, rather, more would've arise ( I don't know how else to say it without spoiling anything ) But the amv is beautiful and very touching

Everybody always says that the ending to this isn't what they wanted, and most likely what they wanted was for Naruse and Sakagami to end up together like in the ending of most anime, where the female and male protagonist. Well, Anthem of the Heart focuses on more mature themes and helps to contradict the idea that if you love someone hard enough they will eventually fall for you. Sakagami was his own person with his own feelings, something Naruse couldn't control. A bit more context for this idea we all have that life is perfect is to look at Naruse's childhood, she was young and full of life. She sought out a fairy tale ending where a prince would save her, which is where her intrigue with the "castle" came into play. Still young, Naruse told her mother about her father's affair at the "castle", and she single handedly broke apart her family. Her regret manifested as a fairy egg. Those fairy tales she once loved sealing away her ability to speak so that she no longer could ruin anything. Anthem of the Heart has a moral of life is not a fairy tale, so not getting the happy ending we thought we expected isn't a terrible thing because Naruse found her voice, her mother finally stopped unconsciously hating her, and she even found a new love along the way in the form of Tasaki. Just because it isn't the ending we wanted, doesn't mean it isn't a happy ending nonetheless.
I watch thing with happy ending because life is full of unhappy ending and sorrow so I want my stories "movies" to have happy ending, of course I'm in my thirties so I know that happy endings are more like unicorns they do not happen the way movie and book make look.. But I haven't watch this movie so... no judgement towards it.. Just sharing my thoughts..
@@dingobabie I totally agree, while this seems like it might be a good movie, in general I don't enjoy watching things that I know have sad endings or are overly focused on depressing themes, because to me reading or watching something is supposed to be an escape from real life that I enjoy, not something that makes me feel sad and unfulfilled by it's ending or plot

This just soo much depicts the feelings of a child when the parents get divorce.....its traumatising to the child ....This is a perfect AMV that shows all those emotions.....so very touching .

I have never seen this Anime movie, I've heard of it though. This was a really nice AMV, I love when people actually make them as if you're telling its story, I'm not too much of a fan of random clips. everyone's either complaining or trying to justify the ending, but I honestly loved it; I would have actually been a little annoyed if it ended in the cliche "girl meets boy" main protagonist troupe. 10/10 one of my favourite animes
well i might agree with you on that, but it just kinda pisses me off though, sure tasaki did like naruse and think that she changed him and all that, but in naruse's POV nothing much have happened between them, it would have make me happier if they showed naruse response to the confension, it was such a big cliffhanger.
I haven't watched this anime but it sounds like I would like it. I want movies that don't follow something 90 percent of all movies do and one of those is the whole boy meets girl, happy ending thing. I want a twist like the girl became more independent.

I watched this AMV since months over and over again, the Movie, the Song, and the AMV ofc are soooo unbelieveable good. I love it. I cry almost every time I watch it. So emotional. Love, love, love it. (sad that they didn't end up together...)

I loved everything about this anime! Story, context, characters everything! The ending was unexpected, but it was better than one of those cliche endings. 😗
This anime hits close to home... Watching it really brings me to tears. Most people might want Naruse and Sakagami, and I hoped so too when I watched it. But in real life, usually things aren't a fairy tale, and I think the anime did its best to tell people that.
This movie hit me right in the feels - although my parents never divorced. BUT I do believe both Nuruse's parents were to blame. One, her mother told her not to speak of her father's affair ever again. Then, the dad basically put all the blame for the divorce on their daughter.
Watching this movie was like a punching in the gut for me. My parents separated for 7 years before got their divorce finalized in 2016. They were never really in love with each other from the start, I know there was affairs here and there, I know they were trying so hard to fill themselves with love that our family's lacking. I love how Naruse sings at the end, I love how this movie didn't really sell "happily ever after" troupes, it was so realistic and so close to home.. I'm glad I found this movie

I suppose the ending was not the most ideal for the general consensus (i myself included). The guy was definitely misleading the way he interacted with jun, but that’s what happens most of the time IRL. Just because someone is so nice to you does not mean they like you romantically and just because you love someone so much does not necessarily mean they will love you back. The portrayal of the story is too realistic for the people who watches anime to escape reality and wants to see a happy ending. Don’t get me wrong, i still love the anime regardless and i recommend watching it. I believe the romance part is not the main point of this movie but more towards facing and overcoming the trauma of the characters. BTW, the AMV gave me goosebumps and urged me to watch the movie so thank you so much :)

Takumi is such a harem protagonist, being nice to and helping every girl he meets solve their problem. If the perspective of the narrative were different, Jun would just be the "girl of the arc" that he just happens to be helping during this arc of the story.
i did so NOT expect the ending. like my ships were totally different and i feel fucked over because i didn't pick up on any of the indications throughout the movie. how? why? i don't even know what to say.

This anime hits close to home... Watching it really brings me to tears. Most people might want Naruse and Sakagami, and I hoped so too when I watched it. But in real life, usually things aren't a fairy tale, and I think the anime did its best to tell people that.

This movie hit me right in the feels - although my parents never divorced. BUT
I do believe both Nuruse's parents were to blame. One, her mother told her not to speak of her father's affair ever again. Then, the dad basically put all the blame for the divorce on their daughter.

Watching this movie was like a punching in the gut for me.
My parents separated for 7 years before got their divorce finalized in 2016. They were never really in love with each other from the start, I know there was affairs here and there, I know they were trying so hard to fill themselves with love that our family's lacking.
I love how Naruse sings at the end, I love how this movie didn't really sell "happily ever after" troupes, it was so realistic and so close to home.. I'm glad I found this movie

Toshiiba-kun AnimeJunk i got you , And i do understand what that other guy was saying to.... but you say you believe in God , then should know that without him everything is impossible Yea they will be times that goods stuff are going to happen but a life without God its really hard believe me bro..... and knowing that people without God inside their heart will not go to heaven its just worst 😕 I have been so sad and depressed ( not saying why unless you ask me) and am always praying and talking to God and i haven’t changed that much... but i guess that God its telling me something or he wants me to go through this.... all i know its that i trust him with all my heart even if am scared from whats coming next i trust in him Because at the end everything is going to be just fine.
I suppose the ending was not the most ideal for the general consensus (i myself included). The guy was definitely misleading the way he interacted with jun, but that’s what happens most of the time IRL. Just because someone is so nice to you does not mean they like you romantically and just because you love someone so much does not necessarily mean they will love you back. The portrayal of the story is too realistic for the people who watches anime to escape reality and wants to see a happy ending. Don’t get me wrong, i still love the anime regardless and i recommend watching it. I believe the romance part is not the main point of this movie but more towards facing and overcoming the trauma of the characters.
BTW, the AMV gave me goosebumps and urged me to watch the movie so thank you so much :)

Takumi is such a harem protagonist, being nice to and helping every girl he meets solve their problem. If the perspective of the narrative were different, Jun would just be the "girl of the arc" that he just happens to be helping during this arc of the story.
