A FAI is whatever is in the company process that defines it.
Yes, it can't tell you with 100 % certainty that the second article is good but telling people that an FAI is exactly this or that is incorrect.
Hi UA-camr - I take your point, perhaps what I should have said is here is what it is capable of and what it cannot do. I was with a company this week and they used FAI to say a new mould tool is ok to run that is what they 'say'......but we soon agreed that is a daft use for it. My arguement is matter of statistics not system design. A company can say one data point tells them process capability but unfortunately that doesn't make it true...

Hi there - Apologies I didn't see a previous question, youtube sometimes like to delete some of the comments for some reason. Your question is a good one, why do businesses do FAI? I have no idea, I think it is a customer request especially in aerospace industries, but it is a useless technique...
