    Cool nice job. The main issue with helicopters and filming is countering the aircraft’s vibration levels, and these vary with different phases of flight. The other filming point with helicopters is avoiding capturing the blades in your image during turns (unless you want that effect). Most experienced pilots will know how to flatten a turn’s bank angle to achieve this, but worth discussing with your pilot pre-take off.

    I liked technical tips given by you. I would like to know more about professional video shooting from a helicopter. Like- camera mount, aperture, ND filter, shutter speed, stabilizing etc. Thank you.

    Hi Matt. I love your work and have been following you for a good while now. Do you have control over where the ad cuts in? For me, your beautiful scenery was spolied by the ad in the middle. As a viewer, I much prefer getting the ads over and done with at the beginning. Enjoy a slower pace, cos we sure don't want you to burn out! Cheers. Kaz.

      Hi Kaz, oh that's disappointing, I had no idea the ads were running in the middle of the video. All I can control is whether or not there's ads on this (I don't get ads as I'm on youtube red..). I might demonetise this video.. Thanks for letting me know :)

    Hi Matthew, thanks for the video. The only content I found regarding that topic which ich well done. In few hours I am sitting on my first flight with a small plane sadly with non openable windows. I think pointing to a steeper angle on the ground will be difficult. So there's my advice what you might have to think of in that situation. Bring something to clean the window before flight. Which focal length did you use and in which height? I have a try on a 70-200mm on a fullframe with 45MP but bring a 24-70 along as well.

    • @MatthewVandeputte
      @MatthewVandeputte  4 роки тому

      I'd honestly recommend sticking to the 24-70 and yes, pointing down will be hard as it increases the amount of 'window' the light goes through. Hope you have a great flight and thanks for the compliment!

    Hi Matthew !
    First a few Thank You:
    - for bringing up some memories of my helicopter flight over Sydney in the year 2005
    - for your tips about aerial photography
    - for all the other tips on yourchannel
    Let me make some suggestions about planning the flight.
    Your flight was in a controlled airspace with a given routing and altitude by the authorities - not much to change about that.
    Most of the helicopter companies have a desription of their tour on the website, so the company i flew with - Sydneyhelitours.com.au - does have. With this given routing you can prepare your flight with googleearth to find the points of interest.
    Although flying with a helicopter in Australia is cheaper than it is in Germany i still call it an expensive amusement. The point is not to waste any time up in the air, talk about the details you wish to do and see to the pilot before you leave ground. The most common helicopter used for scenic flights is a Robinson 44 - that one you flew with. A door can be removed within 2 minutes by the way.
    Where to sit when all 3 passenger doors are removed ?
    The disadvantage of the left front seat is that there is a pilot sitting on the right. That blocks the view to the right and you should keep a safe distance between your camera gear and the flight controls. If you are the only person in the second row you can shoot to the right and the left.
    I prefer the Canon 28-300mm lens, that one gives me the chance for closeups on objects on the ground and even the helicopters instruments in the dashboard.
    And for those of you who don´t have an actioncam: I used my dashcam on my Zeppelin flight for some additional footage.

    What brand has your preference as it comes to polarisers ? In your Kit list I see a Hoya brand, did you choose that for a specific reason ?

    • @MatthewVandeputte
      @MatthewVandeputte  6 років тому +1

      I'm not sure why I picked Hoya at the start but it's been a reliable and smooth polariser even tho it's gone through so much travel and dirt haha. Still, time for a new one I think, my current one is quite scratched
