Ten years on, Allison Reed, Paul Poirier and Evan Bates are the only dancers here who are still competing.
Add 4 more to that...
this is incorrect, the OP is right, it's only those 3. @@3Axel1996
I only came here for Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, but getting Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte as well was a bonus!
This is SO much better than watching performances with 'commentators' yakking yakking yakking.
I miss the original dance!! It was so fun
Me too. I loved the original dance as well. I wish they never phased it out.
Original dance of virtue and moir is exquisite.
the hungary one was AMAZING
Rest in peace Chris Reed.
2:23:45 Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir
Italy was a lot of fun!
maybe its just me but the first dance absolutely took my breath away!!!! the dance was beautiful and the costumes were certainly unique (i wouldve gotten rid of those arm things on the woman though, they obscure her arm movements too much imo!!)
TheCrystal0817 I feel you
Just wanted to thank @olympicvancouver (and ISU & UA-cam & whoever else!) again for still having the full events available! this has to be the 3rd or 4th time I've watched full through on here so ya, sick days are for beautiful ice dancing at its best! (💗Tessa and Scott FOREVER💗)
Tessa and Scott were amazing in this skate.
My favorite event. I could watch these forever. They are such great all around athletes and of course fantastic skaters.
In spite of the cultural appropriation controversies, I really enjoyed this segment. We got to see many people who got to share their culture in an international stage, many of whom are virtually unknown to the world. This is by far the most diverse segment in all of figure skating and it's a shame it got tarnished because of a few people who were unable to recognise their own limits.
At the end of T/M's dance, I was thrilled and Yelled 'Wow!!!!!!!!'
D/W's OD was fantastic no doubt but compared to V/M they don't skate as closely together, their edges are a shorter and choppier, their handholds aren't as soft and fluid, and they don't pay as close attention to their free legs (although they've improved upon that in recent years). And I thought V/M's choreography was more demanding and challenging. Yes the flamenco has done many times before but the judges have to rewards superior skating which they did.
i disagree and i had the americans in front after this original dance
@@nipaipo36100 For what reasons?
Gorgeous all round. Well done ladies from 🏴✌🏻❤🏴 Scotland xx
Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir at 2:23:40 :D
AMAZING
Meryl and Charlie's OD is masterpiece and was the best OD of the night, hands down. It was inspired and creative as all hell.
+Troy Turner Meryl and Charlie hands down are the most original. No one came close.
starsmoon0216 I completely agree. It was authentic and executed well.
I love that they put their whole heart into it. Including Meryl buying the material to make sure her costume is authentic.
I agree with you , Troy
and, of course , with the other who consider Merryl and Charlies's OD the best
Tessa and Scott's Spanish Flamenco is amazing!
Definitely my favourite and in my opinion the best.
Go Canada Go!
Wasn't very original though. Its been done countless times...
ok, but their technique were amazing, don't be a hater just cause you like meryl and charlie, tessa and scott deserved it as meryl and charlie deserved in 2014. I love tessa and scott, they are the best for me, but i can admit that in Sochi Meryl and Charlie were better. It's ok.
Aline Theodoro
I never said that Tessa and Scott didn't have good technique, but I'll stand by my comment about the originality of the Flamenco dance. It has been done over and over for many years while Bollywood was new and fresh. I was referring to the OD, not the entire competition. I'm not hating on T/S. They deserved to win gold in Vancouver just as Meryl and Charlie deserved gold in Sochi.
+starsmoon0216 yes, I agree about Sochi too 🤗
Yes mine too!
I agree that Davis and White's OD was great, but Virtue and Moir's OD was more intricate and difficult. They had closer hand holds which Davis and White have a hard time doing. The points for V/M's OD was from the difficulty of it.
I have to say that in the OD, Virtue and Moir outskated Davis and White. That seems pretty clear. I love both of them and they're both great, but the judges did well here.
totaly disagree
DorEnErnil I remembered clearly in the gpf that I was entranced by their Bollywood program and from memory, I believed they skated better than v/m there. However, here i agree that it’s clear V/M out skated the field in the OD (and FD) even with my biases love for the novelty of Davis/White’s program considered. D/W also look a little more nervous too throughout the competition.
Sometimes I think that I enjoy the couples who are lower in the standings more than the leaders. Because they are not in medal contention, they are usually able to put more joy and energy into their performance. They probably enjoy their Olympic experience more too.
Nathalie Pechalat's eyes are stunning. 2:11:56. And I love the cowboy boot skates, adorable!
que vergonha disse Ramalho eanes
I just absoloutely love the Zaretskys!!!! Such amazing and beautiful skaters!!!!
The Spanish Flamenco is the best!!!
Totally agreed
I think Meryl and Charlie's OD was much more original and flawless as well. They should have won the OD.
+starsmoon0216 yep I agree. Meryl & Charlie's Bollywood was much more original than Tessa & Scott's OD. Its really a masterpiece and so difficult. I liked Tessa & Scott' Flamenco dance but not as good as Meryl & Charlie's.
@@dannistyle6399 I think that M/C idea was more original but S/T where flamenco was flawless and more fluid.
I'm so happy that Davis and White are finally getting reward and not underscored like they have in the past.
Danke für die schönen Momente mit eurer Musik und den guten Darbietungen… danke, thankyou, merci.
Yvengi Platov is an amazing athlete and coach!
tessa virtue and scott moir !!
"What up Detroit" Tanith is so funny lol
I would have placed Virtue/Moir first overall for the Olympic gold, but for me, the winner of the Original dance was Davis/White. I just felt it was MUCH more original than the flamenco, which has been done countless times. These two teams are so even in talent it's almost impossible to judge, but the Canadians earned the gold for sure.
Matthew C thought original dance was how best you did your own techniques??
The americans were just stuning
Спасибо за прекрасное зрелище!Незабываемо!

As an proud American...you did Jonny Cash proud...thank you!🥲
Believe or not, I miss the commentators. I’m watching in 2022.
I cannot get over how goofy the "American Country" dance by the two Great Britain skaters is. Can you imagine going to the Olympics and deciding that's a good idea??? Also seems very on-theme that they are brother and sister lol
Ice dancing is awesome! I love it all.
IRELAND IS DOING REEL AROUND THE SUN
Coombs and Buckland got screwed. They were better than a LOT of the others that went before them.
Jodi J they didn’t have the skating skills compared to a bunch before them even if their program was more fun. However, Riverdance is one the most accessible and easiest pieces to get into, so its more the program choice than what they’re really doing on the ice to get that level of praise.
True
tessa and scott yaaaaaaaaaay
Наши постановщики самые лучшие! Лучший испанский танец, лучший индийский танец, лучший японский танец, лучший американский танец.
the British were so under evaluated
They didn’t have the skating skills at all at the time. The only reason that they had that crowd reaction to the scores was that they lucked out in skating in group three after a plethora of stronger skaters had gone before them
2:30 look who is the ninth judge #Don'tForgetSochi2014
Great Britain ( penny) OMG WHAT HAPPENED AT SCORING? The crowd loved them and was not happy at all with the score.
I'd like to see an "Irish dance" routine (outside of actual Irish dance, that is) NOT be completely inspired by Riverdance or Lord of the Dance. There's other Irish music and costumes could be solo dresses like those worn in competition. And you could do something like a 2-hand reel. It'd be great.
scoutz0rs do you think penny coombs and partner were a bit underscored?
I felt so sorry for Penny and Nick. It was a lovely programme but not without flaws. In my opinion the scoring was rather harsh, but I think Penny's spin over Nick's shoulders may have been classed as an illegal move in ice dancing hence the low score.
@@Curiousever I think they were always underscored tbh. Not that they weren't vulnerable technically, but they would always get nailed more on the PCS than I think was fair.
Loved that Bates and Samuelson used the Dixie Chicks music!
Does anyone know why Penny Coomes and Nicholas Buckland scored so low? I thought they did well and included some difficult moves. I expected them to be in the top 5, as of the time they danced.
surely řessa and scott were the best, but the kerrs syblings from UK were great too and definietely the hungarian couple with czardash dance. Ukrainians zadoroshniuk and verbillo were also my favorite. also french natalie pechalat and fabio bourzat were far more better than the russians performing australian aboriginal dance- but i respect that they choose that dance so different from their coulture, but there was definitely a strong deficit of difficult figures. The americans with country dance did not impress me at all.
John Kerr put his foot down on the second twizzle. Big mistake. But they are enjoyable.
can we just talk about Evan Bate's baby face for a moment?
This is why Davis and White became Olympic Champions in 2014. Not only are they original, but they have pushed Ice Dance to new limits.
+Carlos Castro you make me laugh.
+coco Leblanch And a clown like you makes everyone laugh.....LOL!
+coco Leblanch What so funny about this?
I'll bet she's a V/M fan. They'll laugh at anything.
😂😂😂😂 Tessa and Scott is the best
Lindo demais. ❤🥰☺️😍😊
I like the French couple, young's style :))
davis and white were the best in this category
@Nongamblerpokerfan I believe most of it is from the Bollywood film "Devdas" that was a 2000s remake of the original.
come on meryl!!!love from greece!!!
All pairs were great 😊😊
Tessa virtue and Scott Moir is the best
The French at 2:11:00 were so good
Reeds siblings, so elegant!
wonderful!
@belladonna137 oh you are so welcome! ♥ thank you for letting me know where Tessa and Scott were RIGHT when i came to the page! :D :D :D
What was the music used for Davis and White's indian folk dance ??? It's killing me -_-
1. Kajra Re
2. Silsila Chaahat Ka
3. Dola Re
(The music videos are freaking crazy and awesome!)
There was some bad dope going around there in 2010
Looking at this now, Charlie looks very tight in this, at least up until the twizzles where they both finally let go. His opening moves look very tentative and he doesn't really stretch. He's very good at performing for the judges but sometimes forgets he has a partner on the ice. Scott and Tessa never did this dance as well all year. Saved it for the Olympics.
I don't get this sport. They all look nice to me :(
That was a lovely comment toastedcheeser. In these performance there are certain requirement/moves the skaters must perform. Sits, spins, jumps, etc. They are judged on the execution of each technical requirement. To most people, they just see the talent and beauty and there is nothing wrong with that.
2:23:53
Omg so many beautiful European cultures here, amazing. The most captivating ones were Hungary and Great Britain. Just amazing.
It's 2020 and I keep wondering how the hell they could allow that "aboriginal dance"
This was competition from 2010.
@@rowwdycolt654 and so what?
@@claudiaf.7811 I'd banish those who came up with the concept, costumes and choreography to Siberia for years of hard labor for that.
tessa is as beautiful as cinderella and scott is her true prince charming....the sexiest pair.....they are everything for me...they are lot more gracious than white and davis...they fired in 2018
You canadese and Americans are so biased... There are better couples but no your bias can't handle that. Sheez... I hate america.
Someone tell me, who is that GORGEOUS guy? -@ 7 minutes
Wow, Natalie Pechalat actually has yellow eyes! And Fabian is really hot and good-looking, but a little bit introvert for ice dances, I think.
so COOL love it
omg the estonians were so young looking!!! How old were they??? :D
Шабалин и Домнина - это навсегда, самая необычная техничная пара за всю историю фигурного катания. Если бы не его травма, они были бы - олимпийские чемпионы.
Вот мне интересно, ты реально идиотка или "в образе"?
Sie hätten einen Inuit Tanz nehmen können.😂
my favorite 1:56:19
the brits' OD is essentially bourne-kraatz 1998 olympics OD plus twizzles hahahaha
porque nao tem o completo feminino?
es un mix de varias canciones del espectaculo de danza irlandesa llamado Riverdance
I just watched this couple move into first place. There was absolutely no flow of their skating to the music. Thankfully the next couple dropped them down to 2nd place and there are still more to come.
What is a compulsory dance?
it's a set dance pattern based on steps and characteristics of ballroom dances that the skaters have to perform. every skater will skate the same pattern and follow the same steps and leg extensions and direction on the ice. it's a way for the judges to actually see and compare the teams and see who has good clean edges and can skate controlled across the rink.
I agree with you
@musiqueviolonsarayou omg thank you for letting me know where it is! :D
HARİKALAR DEGİLMİ
The Beier brother and sister team from Germany really didn't skate to authentic Hawaiian music. All pieces of music that they used were Tahitian which is not Hawaiian. Tahitian music comes from the island of Tahiti which is totally different from Hawaiian music. I hope they have folk again in the short program dance in the future and would love to see someone actually pull off a program to real Hawaiian music. Do the research coaches/choreographers!!!!
That last Russian couple doing the Aborigine routine was no where near 106. Their costumes were very distracting. But, judges have their favorites and ARE very prejudicial. Hungary was soooo much better.
excuse me but honoring the Figure Skating Code of Point, their performance was better than the Hungarian (no offence)
It was cringe-worthy. They were lucky that their superior skating skills were enough to sneak that hot mess past a judging panel. The real tragedy is that they're captured forever on video wearing those hideous outfits.
nightswimmer99 they were actually worse and were "toned down" just a day before!
It’s because of their skating skills and Russian politics that got them on the podium. Imo, the offensiveness of this od and then coupled with the scratchiness of their fd should’ve kept them off the podium imho
❤👏👏👏👏👏
2:28:43 ❤️
I call this ice dancing , not like in 2022 to much lifting 👍👍👍👍🇨🇦
Taavi Rand precisa de outra parceia ele é otimo mas ela.............
Japan lots of leg swinging
Moldova was also amazingggggggg.
Maybe it's just me--but I found that final pose at 1:47:10 to be a bit intimate for a brother/sister duo. Again, maybe it's just me...
In ice dancing/skating, the relationship takes no precedence. It is a matter of fulfilling the program requirements, artistic requirements and overall performance. Choreographers have a lot to do with program.
Also look closer- no intimate context or energy at all-
