Stella's anger at Stolas sleeping with an imp isn't because it implies that he finds her unattractive, it's because the scandals that would result from it would reflect badly on her status by association. High society is all about shallow image, and consorting with someone below one's station would be grounds to ostracize that person and their entire family branch.
Yup. Her social status is all that matters to her. Having her husband born of literal royalty cheat on her with the lowest species in Hell's society makes her look like an absolute joke. That's her hangup. She doesn't even give a shit about her own kid, even when she was little.
Exactly. We’ve seen multiple times how Imps are basically the working class of hell, farming food for everyone else, working as servants, having small entertainment jobs. Imps are one of the most common demons in hell, as we can see in episode 2. But since they no powers, unlike other hellborn demons, they’re at the very bottom of the demon ranking, alongside Hellhounds

If you go back and watch the Loo Loo Land episode, Stolas does the same hand clap and is just as excited as his father at the circus, while Octavia is just as uninterested as young Stolas. Just a fun parallel i found lol
For better or worse kids have a tendency to become like their parents. Look at Blitzo as a kid and him now, he became the selfish scumbag his dad was and Stolas despite his best efforts became self serving like his Dad. The entire relationship is based in manipulation and blackmail (both with his actual wife and Blitzo) and Stolas is miserable because of it. He even ignores the wishes and feelings of his Daughter until he’s hit over the head with it.

@@Broomer52 What's actually interesting for me is that I don't think Blitz is like his dad, mostly. I think Cash Buckzo hurt Blitz, abandoned the family after getting the Goetia treasures and then Blitz's whole family fell apart after having no other ringleader to the circus and from that, I think something awful happened to his mom. So he blames himself for why his family fell apart and because of that, fears getting too attached to other people because he's afraid he'll ruin their lives too. In real terms, it's called Philophobia, or "Fear of Love", we all experience mild versions of it from a breakup with a serious relationship, thinking we will never find someone that makes us love again or we will make the same mistakes, but those that experience intense trauma growing up or intense trauma from their significant other (like domestic violence), it can be a LOT worse, which would explain a lot with S1. Ep. 6 "Truth Seekers" in Blitz's hallucinations, where it reveals Blitz truly shares the same feelings for Stolas but he's just too afraid to get attached; Listen to what Moxxie is saying, and then Stolas asking Blitz if he's "Afraid to love people". If that gas is making them hallucinate the truth, then he has to be just mentally and emotionally broken from things in his childhood, which is probably why he's seeing a therapist (S1. Ep. 1 "Murder Family").
I noticed it too. Cool parallel between Stolas and his dad. But unlike his dad. Stolas took Octavia to Loo Loo land in person and definitely loves her. I'm just interested to how Octavia will feel about the divorce of her parents or her dads relationship with Blitzo. Hope she will be alright by this season and ofcourse Stolas himself.
The whole episode is full of it. Blitzo stealing just like his dad told him to do, the puppy dog eyes his dad did he now does. His dad not realizing how unhappy their child is, and then seeing some form of Fizzaroli.
Those white marks on imps skins are the imp version of scars. And jeez, Blitzo has half his face scared and stolas could still tell it was Blitzo

Interesting fact about that book about Asmodean Crystals. Someone managed to decipher the text and basically it explains how they are gemstones Asmodeus gives to his succubi and incubi so they can travel to the Living World too do their thing, typically in a ring or necklace.
Stolas was likely contemplating gifting one of these gems to Blitz-o- or even propose to him using one of these so that Blitz-o- wouldn't need to use his Grimoire as a show of trust and sincerity and equality in their relationship.

Honestly though, from what we have seen, Stolas definetly was delusional about the relationship he and Blitzo had.
I personally dont even want them to be together because they already didnt start off well. Blitzo only wanted the book while Stolas already was 7 steps ahead and thought Blitzo was into him.
This episode has been a real roller coaster. I just feel bad about Octavia, hopefully she gets to be alright. Her worst fear is to have her father leave her life, and I want to see Octavia's family issues get resolved, she's my favorite character besides Loona, Blitz and now Stolas.
Stolas had always been my favorite. This episode made me love him even more
She will replace stolas, as sadly this feels like he's been set up to die at some point the warning flags are all over

“You could say he would be a hell of a boss.” I’m genuinely shocked he didn’t say that.
The Goetia Family refer to the 72 Demons of Solomon with rankings (Kings, Dukes, Princes, Marquises, Earls, Knights, Presidents). And yes, there is a Demon Prince called Stolas depicted as "commanding 26 legions of demons, teaches astronomy, knowledgeable about herbs, plants, and precious stones, and is either a raven or crowned owl with long legs."
Essentially, they are a large feudal family stretching across the upper echelon of Hell. And probably inbred as fuck considering how royalties are. Considering their breed of demon is high class and their absolute disdain of the poor, I am willing to bet the egg doesn't fall far from the nest.
I don't know that much about demon mythology. It just shows how much care Vivziepop and her staff take care on making characters from that mythology into a person.
This actually brings up an interesting question: was there someone before Stolas also named Stolas? Because the original 72 Ars Goetias were angels who helped Lucifer try to overthrow God, but were sent to hell after Lucifer lost. But we see Stolas as a little kid. So, that begs the question: are they simply just inspired by the 72 Pillars to be made into their own thing, or is this a generational thing, where once one of the original Goetia’s die, a new Ars Goetia’s is born with the same appearance and role as the original? If so, then how did the first Stolas die? My guess is that it had to do something with a Blessing Tipped gun, like the ones we see in episode 5

I get the feeling the Goetia would be more upset that Stella hired an imp to kill one of their Princes with a blessed weapon than at Stolas demanding a divorce after all her constant cruelty towards him in public view and props to Stolas that he stayed through it until Octavia turned Seventeen, almost an adult before demanding a divorce.
I mean it was only to produce an heir, which he did, so.......yeah.

Stolas’s story and life is the biggest tragedy of Helluva Boss, unless Blitzø’s ends up ever sadder, and this episode cements that.
He tried so hard to live a torturous life and marriage, just for the sake of his only daughter, but now, it’s went down a rabbit hole that he cannot take no longer.
It’s insane how much character growth that he has had. Back then, if you would believe that the horny obsessed prince from the Pilot would become one of the most developed and tragic characters of the show, you would have lost your mind. But, now, thanks to the brilliance of Viv and the Spindlehorse crew, it’s now a reality.
Stolas is now my 2nd favorite character, only behind Moxxie, and I really hope that he prevails, in the end.
What a fantastic show, in fact, the greatest animation series I have ever seen. Viv and the Spindlehorse crew deserve so much praise for this.
Unfortunately, the problems that have plagued them in the past couple months are still in recovery, and who knows how long it’ll be before we get the Season 1 Finale.
However, what will not change is how much I am looking forward to this show. I absolutely love it, and Thank You Viv and the Spindlehorse crew for making this absolute gem of a show.

the song Stolos sings is his own theme that plays everytime we see him in the show. the background melody that place is what he sang to in this episode.
Kid Stolas is so adorable and sweet. I just want to hug him. He deserved better parents.
Stolas episodes are always good episodes. Complex character that provides drama and comedic relief at the same time.
What's funny is me and my friends watched this a day after it was released and after he said "a good boss" a friends said "little did they know he isn't a good boss" and I piped up and said "He's a helluva boss" and now here I am watching nate make the same joke.
I love how they lost all sympathy for Stella after this

So viv and the crew are clearly making a continuation of season 1 finale and starting where we left off so we see stolas having flash backs through out the whole night after getting home from Ozzie’s. So my guess is considering that blitz was left in a similar situation of him crying on the couch. my theory is we are gonna see something similar next episode and see flash backs of blitz life and will see him Wake up the next morning.
Well, season 1 finale part 2 isn't out yet because it ran into certain issues, but they already had this made and given that it, for the most part, wasn't chronologically linked to the season 1 finale, they released this to tide us over

@@patrickrowland3932 I’m well aware of that, what I’m just saying is I heard as a rumor is that part 2 isn’t gonna play any significant role and not tie into season 2, and be more like a side episode.
Stolas' dad is likely King Paimon who in the Less Key of Solomon is the 2nd most powerful demon in the Ars Goetia under Baal and is one of Lucifer's most loyal supporters. If all the Goetia demons under him are his children (the ones named from the book anyways) then he has like 70 kids. Hence the "So fucking many" comment.
Fun Fact: Paimon is also voiced by Jonathan Freeman, AKA Jafar from Aladdin 1992

The episode was outstanding and full on lore on what happen before pilot episode. As it seems to have a nice moment with Stolas from wanting a change in his life. With this said, Stolas is going to have a serious growth to witness in this season. Also I am curious on how Blitz gotten the white mark on face to Fizz getting Robo parts.
I am willing to bet episode 1-8 was supposed to be a fun palette cleanser between the two emotionally heavy episodes, but now we just get them back to back without a breath

I liked the helluva boss joke, it sounded funny to me.
This episode was very emotional and it was enjoyable to watch and I know everyone else would agree with that too.
And it all loops back around.
His Dad will scamper off with the cash; Fizz's Mom will adopt Blitzo and they will continue with the Circus for a time.

Blitzo is blamed and is driven from the Circus; his preoccupation with adoption could reflect hard-feelings about the circumstance of leaving the Circus and his lost Family.
Its confirmed that Fizz and Blitz aren’t related, paper or not! I think it was also confirmed that they’ve dated at one point!
They aren’t real but I was legit cheering for Stolas when he talked down to Stella. THIS show is a great example of how attached you can get to its characters.

See, why can’t we ask questions? Why did they cheat? Was the relationship bad? Was the spouse abusive? Did the other cheat first? We always just say “there’s no reason to cheat” but Stolas wanted a divorce and cheating gave him a legit reason to. He put up with so much for 25 YEARS for Octavia’s sake. When he screamed “that was the sound of a F*CKING DIVORCE!!!!” That was the sound of a free man. Stella deserved the humiliation of being cheated on and I’m glad he did it. Also, Stolas is clearly gay and was forced to marry someone of the opposite gender to birth an heir against his will. Sad part is, Octavia doesn’t understand his situation and I suppose Stolas can’t tell her out of fear that she would blame herself so he’d rather take all the blame. And now that I think about it, Octavia is the only person to genuinely love her dad and not use him like Stolas’ dad, his wife and Blitzo, but she also blames her father for everything. And how can he tell her that he and Stella never even liked each other and he only stayed in an unhappy marriage because of her? I always knew there was a good reason for the affair and I always knew Stella was bad news. And I always knew she was angry because the affair was the imp. I freaking knew it and because Stella was cheated on people assumed she was hurt by it, but that still wouldn’t have justified her trying to get him killed. Now we know she’s a straight psycho considering how she enjoys tormenting, emasculating, abusing, etc. the very guy who tried giving her a comfortable life. Well now she’s b*tched her way out of it and I hope that’s the beginning of her receiving her comeuppance. F*ck Stella. I was right about her. Now excuse me while I go rub it in so many of these peoples stupid simping faces.
She only ever cared about her social status. Not even her own child really matters to her. The only use she has for Octavia now is to weaponize her against Stolas to tear him down emotionally, which I fear she will do out of spite.

And yeah, the whole status thing is something we’ve always speculated and it turned out to be true. Somebody said they were just trying real hard to make us love Stolas and hate Stella more, but no, that’s always been the truth. She’s most likely the main villain of this series, which would be interesting.
I agree with almost everything you said aside from mainly the fact that you condoned Stolas' cheating. Cheating never makes the situation better and now Stolas has an assassin on his ass and his daughter views their family falling apart as his fault.
@@47ratsinahoodie see, that’s the problem. It’s seems like you’re condoning Stella being abusive and murderous. Because the moment Stolas does something back, Stella becomes vindictive and people STILL say “but-but he still cheated her blah blah blah” I DON’T CARE!!!! Like fighting back isn’t a right and he should just keep taking it and never find love elsewhere like he deserves. Another problem I have is how people view this as a black and white issue. Im honestly sick of people invalidating a person’s problems or feelings because of some moral compass like they’re a higher being levitating above the rest of us. Especially since that was Stolas’ valid reason to get out of a toxic relationship. And I feel sad that Octavia doesn’t understand what is going on, but Stolas did what he could and suffered for 25 years for her sake. He’s always put others before himself especially the ones who’s used him (Octavia is the only one who’s never used him). He has every right to be a bit selfish and he has every right to fight back. He tried! He has always been taking care of everyone even the very psycho wife who doesn’t appreciate or care for him and was probably planning on offing him at some point anyway, and now it’s his turn to look after himself. Octavia will figure it out eventually, but sadly, she’s just going to have to bare with it a little longer. But right now, he would much rather take the blame from his daughter than to let her know that he’s been living with cruelty and misery because of her and quite possibly make her blame herself. Either way, Octavia would still be miserable if she did find out at some point while they’re still married. Stolas doesn’t want her to think that it is because he was putting up with abuse for 25 years because of her. That’s one of the reasons why he couldn’t explain himself in the Loo Loo Land episode. How can you tell your own child that their only together to birth a precautionary heir and he only stayed in a bad place because of her. Despite everything, he’s still looking after her. I know on a personal level that divorce from your parents can be devastating but it’s also what’s for the best for everyone. You have to take care of yourself and love yourself so that you can do the same to others.

Except I'm not? All I said was Stolas cheating wasn't the solution and was still a bad thing to do. Obviously Stella being abusive and murderous is horrible and I'm not trying to defend her actions (aside from her anger specifically with Stolas cheating and embarrassing her [NOT her hiring a hitman] but even then, that's an emotion, any throwing or hitting is not okay here either) she's a worse person than Stolas for that but Stolas still cheated on her despite admitting to trying to keep the family together for Octavia's sake. Stella was a dick but Stolas cheating only made his situation worse and now he has both Striker on his ass and a good portion of the Lust Ring in on his affair. Stolas is literally my favorite character in the show; I love almost everything about him. The thing I don't, is that he cheated on his wife (meanwhile I love Stella as a villain. I hate everything she does, as one should, but she's still an interesting character). It would be one thing for Stolas to say and do what he said and did in this episode because that's actually a step forward but cheating was basically a step back. He made Stella angrier with him and confused and upset Octavia (and then still continued his affair despite trying to console and listen to Octavia in S1E2).
And also, I'm trying *not* to view this as a black and white issue. So many people instantly decided that Stella was a purely evil demon and that Stolas was a completely innocent saint, aka, they made the situation black and white. Stella's the only bad guy, Stolas is the only good guy. They never cross over. We don't even have the full story. Before this episode, a lot of people sympathized with Stella and they wouldn't be wrong for that because it seemed her anger stemmed from Stolas cheating. Now, we know Stella's always hated Stolas. But this was mainly Stolas' backstory, we haven't even met Stella's family yet. I'm not saying this would excuse her actions, but it would continue giving us the full picture of the story, just like this episode did. It would provide us more information. Like, that photo in the kitchen from S1E2 sti exists. Stella at least tolerated Stolas then, when Octavia was a child (recall that she implies that there was a time where Stella and Stolas actually got along, at least a little). So what happened to make Stella double down on the bullshit? It couldn't have been the cheating because Octavia was already at least a young teen in that flashback and it wouldn't make sense for that party or even a few months before to be when Stella starts gossiping about Stolas and whatnot. Something happened between Octavia being born (or potentially when Stella and Stolas were first married) and the time when Stella started belittling Stolas. We just don't know what. And that makes sense. This is the premiere episode of the season! That's like being upset Arcane doesn't answer the question of who everyone in the intro is in the first episode.
And how am I invalidating Stolas' problems or feelings? I feel *_really_* bad for him! I know what it's like to live with someone who does nothing but belittle and berate you. But further pissing them off doesn't make the situation better, especially if you _want_ to stay around them to keep someone else happy. And if it turns out the Stella did actually start hitting Stolas at the point, it means he was actively choosing to piss off someone who could really harm him. I don't blame him for the initial ONS, Blitzø mainly initiated that and stuck around to actually do the deed. But continuing/trying to continue the affair even after Stella grew angrier, even after Octavia expressed genuine fear of him abandoning her, even after the fuckin prince of lust himself called him out in front of a packed club, feels, for lack of a better word, shortsighted of Stolas. He said he wanted to hold the family together for Octavia's sake (which I don't think was a good idea in the first place, I think Octavia would have been much happier with separated parents instead of her parents being miserable right in front of her every single day) but stuff he does after Loo Loo Land seems to contradict that (but that is one thing we agree on, Stolas should stop putting others so far before himself). His motivations have changed and with where he was before this episode, it wasn't going to benefit him. And it's not his fault that he's in this marriage and that Stella is a dick but the best way to protect himself if he felt he absolutely needed to keep the marriage together was to stay off of Stella's bad side, not piss her off. Being selfish doesn't equate to being dumb. Cheating isn't the same as fighting back (it would be different if Stella was also cheating but so far we have no proof that she was). The way he handled Stella at the end of this episode was far better than how he handled it after the initial ONS.
And yeah, it's terrible that Octavia doesn't understand what's going on but if she still views the situation as Stolas' fault ("But home doesn't even feel like home anymore. You ruined it."), it's not going to be as simple as, "Stella's a dick, that's why I cheated and hurt your feelings." Octavia lives with Stella, too, she knows she's a dick. Stolas needs to take the time to explain stuff to Octavia but also not just dump it all on her to the point where she becomes super emotional like in S1E2.
And a note, Stella's a dick but until Stolas cheated she was just shit talking him. I doubt she actually wanted him dead until she felt he tarnished her image. Doesn't make it any better but that should be cleared up. Cheating didn't make the situation better. But one good thing did come out of it, surprisingly: Stolas is forced to reflect on *_everything._* His marriage, his childhood, his child, his relationship with Blitzø, his family, his responsibilities. He has to think about all of that now and figure out what _he_ wants to do and how he's gonna look after himself now. I still can't condone cheating, just like I can't condone Stella's shitty behavior, but it's good the owl prince is free from the Goetias' shackles. For now, I guess. The story's still being told after all.
The implications of this divorce might be worse since this is hell and it's an entire noble family that's gonna be out for Stolas's blood (if the description of her brother from the twitter post is any indication) Stella may even spin a sob story about how SHE was the victim making things worse. Poor Octavia is definitely gonna torn by this thinking it's all her dad's fault since she's been kept in the dark about the truth (and yes I did see the leaked animatic so my point stands)

This episode really cleared up a whole lot about Stolas's marriage and his relationship with Blitzo.
I mean, it was definitely hinted at so much even more back in the Loo-Loo Land episode. Back then, we probably thought Stella was just pissed about him cheating on her. But taking a closer look at the dialogue and the body language of the characters, it definitely seemed more like Stolas was beyond unhappy with his unholy union and that he just wanted to have more Blitzo in his life (Did he really even needed bodyguards at all to begin with if he could have easily protected himself and Octavia?). Now having this out, this further cemented what I thought, and I love the whole Helluva Boss team for their impeccable story telling and eye for detail!
Fuck now I want to see blitzo and stolas swap bodies in this show.
I doubt Stolas's dad got involved. From what it looks like Stolas lived in that palace by himself and rarely saw Stolas as he didn't even know his name. I think Stolas had his own place since he was a child and his dad probably did not get invovled.

To be fair, I don't think Paimon would be that worried about his stolen property, except for the realization of being robbed by imps. If the domain of Hell truly is in the center of Earth then the denizen would have full occupation over the precious mineral resources deep within our world especially if the Ring of Greed is any indicator. Resources like Gold, Platinum, Diamonds and others are easily replaceable for Hell's nobility, of course I imagine they would hoard everything single one of it for themselves rather then share with the lesser demons of hell!

She was never nice to him, probably to anyone, and probably even neglectful to Octavia, though I hope not. Our personal circumstances never excuse our actions in such a situation. Like, maybe her parents are even worse and pressurized her all her life for things, but she took that pressure to perform her duties, to look all rich and royal and perfect to outsiders out on Stolas?? No, not excusable OR acceptable.

It doesn’t matter if the couple actually love each other or even like being around each other, it’s all about continuing the bloodline and keeping it pure. Freaking psycho that she is, Stella was a child at the time of the arranged marriage and probably had just as much say in it as Stolas did. She wants the title of the Goetia family because a, she was promised it, b, she feels she deserves it, and c, probably thinks she's earned it by putting up with Stolas for so long. Obviously she's wrong on b, and c, but it's understandable that she thinks that way. She's a cruel and selfish person and the power and title were probably the only things that interested her into the marriage. Well that and someone who was legally forced to put up with her obnoxious personality. Small wonder why they had to arrange a marriage for her.

I don't know why, but watching this episode reminds me of that Family Guy episode where Brian's gay cousin, Jasper, comes to town to get married. Then Mayor Adam West blows the tax payers money on a solid gold statue of a cereal mascot, and then bans gay marriage to distract everyone from it. Brian goes around collecting signatures to reverse the ban, and we all learn that Lois doesn't believe in gay marriage. Her parents basically brainwashed her into thinking that love has no place in a marriage and that two people who hate each other have more of a right to be together than two people who love each other. That just popped into my head when I learned the full story behind how Stolas and Blitzo first met and his sham of a marriage.
