I’m sure you’ve been asked this question many, many times already, but I’m new to this channel, and I’m curious-how on earth can you identify individual monkeys? Especially the adult females that aren’t with babies?
Hello MrAM, I really enjoyed another video. It is sad to see the decline of some of the troops. Our Gang has grown so much with offspring from when you first filming. Batty and his big ears, Dopey. Now there are times I never know who belongs to who. I will admit I miss seeing the matriarch Bossy and her wild gang if kids. Barry is still the alpha but it seems only by default. I think when Grandy, probably forced out by Barry, left that Bossy doesn't want to be bothered with choosing a new alpha or is a cared of Barry. Again AM, thanks for the update on so many troops and great job!!
The authority should be more selective in sterilization process old the sick or unstable is who they should choose. Also Bo should be euthanized she's killed 4 babies. If Nora continues to let her newborns die then she needs sterilization. It was sad to see females who never had babies sterilized. I hope they take a break and allow the young females grow up and have their own
NO MATRIARCH SHOULD EVER BE STERILIZED. There is no if, but, or maybe. Sterilizing a matriarch is scientifically unsound. Macaques are not here to entertain humans. I'm sorry to say your idea is not feasible. More importantly it is not cost effective. No country has the resources to select certain macaques for sterilization out of the thousands. Think about it, sterilization of the old, sick or unstable DOESN'T AFFECT THE BIRTH RATE AT ALL BECAUSE THESE FEMALES ARE NOT CONCEIVING AND/OR THEIR OFFSPRING ARE DYING. The population of macaques has to be controlled or culling (killing) will begin. Rhesus macaques are not native to Hong Kong thus their main predator seems to be cars and angry humans. I also have found myself strangely bonded to each and every troop member. The sterilization of any female especially the young make me very sad. IT HAS TO BE DONE TO SAVE THE REST. I SO WORRY THAT CULLING WILL HAPPEN IF THE STERILIZATION PROGRAM IS INAFFECTIVE. The killing of some if not all of the members we have come to love would be absolutely devastating. The sterilization program may in fact save them all. The real problem is there are just too many people on this planet, habitat is being destroyed and wildlife is dying out. If you want to make a difference. Live simply, so life can simply live and stop reproducing.
But AM what is the alternative? The troops would get bigger and bigger and likely there would be more injuries and deaths from troop fighting, car accidents etc. Any better solutions than sterilization?
Its been such a long time since I've seen Ridgy and her girls..and lil Gigy..Dolly and Pucky too..I hope they are all ok..my hasn't Stanley grown..and he has a big head of hair too..he is going to be an intimidating lad as he gets older 🇬🇧💞🙏✝️👏🙈🙉🙊
Why do they sterilize the poorer mothers with boys, or less than 2 babies. Why don't they sterilize 5he ones with a huge family instead!? So not fair!!😠😡🤬👹
Probably like neutering a cat or dog. They still fight and act bad. But they're less likely to pee on the couch. Lol seriously tho, Sandra is probably right. Doesn't seem to bother them one iota. I have seen it mess up pets as well, but always the females. Males just seem to mellow a little.
Well, to decimate a troop would be far better, as that would mean to target/remove/whatever only 10%. I think they should just leave them alone, but that's not practical anymore. Their population is out of control, which is a human created problem to begin with. They would not boom like that if o people weren't constantly feeding them. Their population would find a number that the land could support, and that would be that. But humans have increased their food supply exponentially, so thru will grow to fill that vacuum. They are more healthy, the babies more likely to survive, they are less likely to be in competition for resources, and they live and breed for way longer than they would naturally. People have created a situation that nature cannot support, nor are people willing to deal with the consequences, so they are doing what we do best and destroying the balance of nature to right our wrong. At least they do not cull them.
I hope monkey hill will be protected to because if not for monkey hill the tourist would not come it keeps the city alive and the monkeys are a Gift from God almighty it's man's responsibility to take care of God's creation since the day He created Adam and gave him the order we will other wise be held accountable and God says he will Destroy man that is destroying his earth .
That would not solve anything. The problem is the abundance of food they receive from people. The monkey population would level out wherever nature could support it. But people are feeding them and have been. So now they are healthier, they have more energy, they do not have to compete for food, they live much longer and are able to breed longer. Out wouldn't matter which troops they went after. The population will always grow to take advantage of the available resources. There's always going to be a balance, and we have upset it by interfering with nature and feeding them constantly, and now folks are upset that there are too many of them. It's a real mess, and it's sad.
@@philbert006 In theory I understand your point. Food availability does keep populations in balance. The old, young, sickly and low-borns will die out due to starvation. Moreover, many macaques might not conceive yearly, and the miscarriage rate will increase. Limiting food availability doesn't work in this situation. Hong Kong has its own issues. 1. Rhesus macaques are not native, thus there is no real predators other than cars. 2. Homeowners do not want Rhesus Macaques invading their home in an effort to obtain food either looking through their trash, gardens or fruit trees. Sometimes macaques can enter homes and/or apartments and cause destruction and downright havoc. 3. Rhesus Macaques migration to the city will cause an increase in car accidents. Humans don't want their commute delayed, their car or tires damaged nor any bodily harm to them caused by a car accident. Moreover, some people just don't want to accidently kill a monkey. By removing food availability, this will encourage macaque migration into the neighborhoods and city. Car accidents will increase. Home and/or apartments broken into, increase in property damage, trash, garden and fruit trees invaded. Anger and hostility will increase towards the macaque. Human injury by macaques will occur because macaques will defend their troop. AN INCREASE IN MACAQUE ANIMAL ABUSE AND KILLINGS WILL DEFINITELY OCCUR. The ONLY ANSWER IS STERILIZATION AND CONTINUED FOOD SUPPLEMENTATION. The sterilization program will help to decrease the macaque population to a manageable number. The continued food supplementation will encourage troops to remain on Monkey Hill. The troops near the roads were sterilized at a higher number, which makes total since. A viewer mentioned that car crashes are high in the area due to macaques trying to cross the busy road. Decreasing these troops number might decrease the car accidents in the area. This will hopefully decrease the anger many people might have towards our favorite primates. Unfortunately, if the sterilization program is not affective in decreasing the macaque population to a manageable number, Hong Kong may cull like many other countries do. I hate to see any female sterilized but culling would be absolutely horrific.
I think it would be healthier for the monkies if they only nipped the males and left the females alone. Might not keep the population in check as much but it'd be better all around.
Nora’s troop is small to begin with. They needn’t focus on her Troop. Skull Head’s troop (or whoever is Alpha there) is the troop they should focus on. And sterilize some males. I understand the need for population control but they have no idea how damaging it is to take away their reproduction abilities forever! Nor do they care. They should go back to the 3 year version in my opinion. And it’s so tricky to lure them into the cage. Monkeys are food driven and they know they’ll a fair amount in that cage. I hate it for them.
The car accidents caused by macaques is very high per some viewers comments. Thus, targeting the troops that hang around the road makes since. Car accidents increase human macaque conflicts. NOT A GOOD THING FOR THE FUTURE OF THE MACAQUES. Decreasing car accidents may decrease human macaque conflicts.

Not so bittersweet when these mothers are used up from having and raising 10 babies or more. Not bittersweet to have them acting a fool and showing out bc she won't let them suck until the next baby arrives. It would be nice if she could have 2 or 3 then spay. I don't consider this mess bittersweet

I’m sure you’ve been asked this question many, many times already, but I’m new to this channel, and I’m curious-how on earth can you identify individual monkeys? Especially the adult females that aren’t with babies?
This is so sad for us as stewards of the Earth.
Thumbs up everyone for AM!
And Krissy! Is she still around?

Krissy is still around.

Yeah Stanley is a bigger boy now. Was going to write a big boy but that's quite not right. He's still young.

That is so sad for those girls. Being a Mum is their calling. Hopefully they will be allowed to baby sit sometime.

So AM I'm curious where you stand on the ( tattoos) are you for control or just let them breed ❓ pertaining to monkey hill's situation..thks
Hello AM, another great video. Quick question though, how is Gingy doing these days?
Why do they sterilize the poorer mothers with boys, or less than 2 babies. Why don't they sterilize 5he ones with a huge family instead!? So not fair!!😠😡🤬👹
Hello my monkey Hill family!!!
Hi😊
@@yvonneconte3040hi Yvonne!😊
My dear brother, how are you?
Hello Charles.
We know how difficult it is for the sterilized females, even causing a few to be erratic. But does it affect the males negatively as well?
Sterilized males can still perform the sex act. They just shoot blanks.
Doubt males feel it. They don't yearn for babies
Doubt it. They don't know the difference. Still able to do their monkey business😊 🐒

So sad they're sterilizing the monkeys. What are the health repercussions for the sterilized monkeys? 😢
Just saw on news of typhoon warning for Hong kong..
Where have
Demi and Naomi's babies gone in Lowina's troupe? This is the right troupe? The daughters of Donna?
I'm sorry but sterilization just does not seem to be the right solution it's cruel 😞
I totally agree, I can understand the worry of over population but when you all but decimate a troop!
I haven't seen Granny in sometime. Has anyone seen her?
I wish they could take Bo out. Lowinas troop ia suffering from an unhinged individual. Babies are rhe lifeblood of the troop.
So they sterilize the ones who have tattoos. How do they decide who
😢 So sad for this mother... and so wrong. I wish they would stop 🛑 doing this to these beautiful creatures...Della
If they can't stabilize the population, culling may happen. Culling is used frequently around the world. FYI culling is killing.

@@debvit2353 not bad. It's been storming so my head has been sore. How are you luv?
I wonder if the mothers knew they wouldn't be having anymore babies, if they would let their babies suckle longer.
I say the same thing. If they only knew, they would keep that last one close and let them suckle as long as they wanted.
I understand why they are sterilizing them but it’s still sad. They should only go after the really big troops
@sonyabilledo4303 I always enjoy reading your knowledgeable inputs. Thank you. I learn from your comments
Why do they sterilize the monkeys?
Did Spanky lose her first daughter's?
No, Spanky's first daughter Sparky is still alive. AM films her often. Spanky's family so far: Sparky (2019), skipped a year, Spiffy (2021), Spritely (2022).
The only blessing I can see from the sterilization program is, the monkeys are not culled. That's the only good thing out of this.
The world is no longer recognizable. 😢
Humans need to mind their own business. Let nature take its course.
Skulhead troop should have been targeted instead of Nora's troop
I don't know that they target any troop. And watching monkeys Inc lately, there are quite a few fresh tattoos in skull heads troop as well. A whole lot more than Noras. There's just so many of them, tho, it may not seem like it. I think they just bait the cages and get whoever goes in.
There is no place like Monkey Hill they take care of there Monkeys , I saw another video About some Monkey in Asian and the monkey look like the starving, they was skinny and hardly have any hair ,there coat was not shiney and the adult Monkeys was terrorising the baby's monkey throwing and dragging up against . The poor babies are scared all they do is crouch down and scream it was horrible watching that video. The monkey are locked up in a zoo somewhere it is not happy environment like Monkey Hill. The monkey are living in horrible conditions. PRAY THEM POOR MONKEYS THAT SOMEONE CAN SAVED THEM . ALL ANIMALS SHOULD BE FREE NOT CAGED IN .😊😊😊
Why do they do this these monkeys are endangered
Rhesus macaques are not endangered! They are the most successful primates after humans. One of the reasons are that they are experts in adapting to new environments and situations.

Not so bittersweet when these mothers are used up from having and raising 10 babies or more. Not bittersweet to have them acting a fool and showing out bc she won't let them suck until the next baby arrives. It would be nice if she could have 2 or 3 then spay. I don't consider this mess bittersweet
