Hi guys! I had such high hopes for this one! But the iridescent just didnt show up. It's still lovely and varnish will definately bring it back to life. Hope you enjoy! Let me know what other pours you would like to see!

If you try this black and iridescent combo again, keep the gold and lime green because those look great on there but go with darker blues and reds. Like Air Force blue (Navy might be too dark) and a fuchsia or magenta. Something bold that’ll clash with the blue but offer a great contrast. Maybe they’d mix together to give a real trippy purple.

I use artist loft iredecent medium in the 4oz tube and use equal parts paint to iredecent and then 2 parts pouring medium with water as needed. It looks like colored crushed pearls! Hope that helps! 💕🏜

I've been watching you for over a year, but only realized last week that I hadn't subscribed. Now that I have, I'm getting all the old videos. I have to say ... you have learned and improved so much. It gives me hope for my own improvement. I love the way you let us travel with you as you enjoy and experiment and grow. I am 73 years old, and have never had so much fun making art 😊 Thank you!

Hi Molly. I use iridescent medium in every single color I have. I use Liquitex and artist loft brands. I found the Liquitex is not quite as thick as the artist loft. I don’t have a specific ratio either. I just add the medium until I’m happy with the shimmer in each color.
One thing I have noted, the medium doesn’t show up quite as well in light colors. To get a good shimmer with the light colors, you have add almost double what you’d add to darker colors.
Once you get the hang of how it works though, it really adds sparkle to your pieces! 😎

I’m going to purchase iridescent medium just to have it. I love the effect, but of course have never used it. So you use it as just a regular medium? Thanks!💕

This turned out better than I thought it would.
I think if you'd left more of the black base on it, the black would have eaten the paint. So this worked, I think.
The only thing I would have done after the blow out is to wreck it. I would have wrecked it by going from the black to the center of the line. Like Milky Way Art does.
But over all, it looks pretty cool.
You are amazing and I really get a lot of inspiration from you. Thank you!

I love this piece. Colors are gorgeous. I've used the irredecent medium and have found in order to get the look I want, I have to add a lot and sometimes that's still not enough lol. I just go for paint that already has the sparkle in it... metallics or irredecenses. I bet once you get the varnish on it'll really come to life with those colors popping out.

I am allowed to have an opinion of my own painting! I can say that I love a color, hate a color, like an effect, or don't. It's all last of the process. Dont think critical, think reflective. If you have seen any of my other videos i say the same thing each time. If you don't like it figure out why and learn from it. It is a process. No one is perfect.

I love your channel. Just some thoughts, I would have put in white, yellow, and gold along a continuous trail. Then added darker turquoise, blue and pink, but keep them in and odd number of isolated patches (3 or 5) that blend after blowing. Also I think it needed a bit more curving flow to it. Seems a bit too linear. I hope you try it again. I agree it needed the black that you blew off. I tend to calculate the surface area and how thick I want the base layer to be and then convert to an exact volume keeping about 10% in reserve for fixing things around the edges.

Hello Molly, I like everything you do or try out, thank you! One other iridescent medium, that works better imo, is the one from Reeves. It can also be mixed with any colour and gives good results without using a lot. But it has to be mixed with only the colour first, before you'll thin it with medium and/or water. Otherwise you might get lumps.

Having come back to old videos from new ones I can definitely see that the iridescent medium is nowhere near as pretty and shimmery as the pearl paints from Amsterdam and the Pebeo iridescent paints. Very glad I opted for those instead even though it was the more expensive route.

Molly I did a large canvas for a client that was five flip cups with iridescent medium added to prussian blue poured as negative space between the cups. I believe the ratio was 75% medium to paint and when dry it truly was gorgeous. I had done a test canvas where the iridescent Prussian was a part of the flip cup but the cells were much to grainy. Anyway I think perhaps 25% you mentioned may have not been enough.
Looking forward to meeting you on Saturday at Las Olas.

You ought to try putting the iridescent in the black, it might look better, and use the hot sharp colours I like the yellow, lime and hot pink. Never mind you do what you want I’m still going to watch.
