Love these videos. I have ADHD and currently doing a dissipation on it, if you have any questions I’ll do my best to answer. It sounds like Ollie is doing extremely well with the results from the tests it’s like everybody that everyone has strengths and weakness, keep up the good work.
Glad its been good for Oli fingers crossed it lasts till the holidays not long to go, as you are further along the ehcp process than me, ive been told by the senco that unless more than 12 hours are needed school wont even consider an ehcp and they say luke is not upto that level, do you know if this is true? Even though Luke's school report says he needs constant supervision from teacher or the clas ta to get work done.
You can start the process yourself if you feel the need to and school then have to respond within a set window once the process has begun. 12 hours may be their policy but I was told by LIASE that even being on the pathway towards a diagnosis qualifies you for a basic EHCP (which would be unfounded) which is then a plan and statement of needs for your child until they are 25 years old. From there you’d raise and lower the needs throughout his childhood based on changes. They need to receive the evidence through from school and they’d decide whether to continue with it. With us they did, and sent a psychologist and a case worker in. But if they’d said no, we had the right to appeal which is where we were told the appeal would be successful based on the diagnosis process being underway. It may be different in each county which is outrageous if so. But where we are I’m at a bit of a loss to understand whether we can get the full requirement (which is what they told us they expect he’d get) because he’s not currently in 20 hours a week and apparently the maximum EHCP is given to children who need 20 hours or more of extra support.
@@SheepdogSays thats great thanks, seems strange they told me at least 12 hours before they would even consider it, given his report although they say he is capable but just wont do the work, but surely thats goes hand in hand with his adhd diagnosis needs attention and help to focus? I still dont understand why is so hard to get help in place. He refused to change for pe yesterday last week he didntgo to tennis afterschool and just left school without my or the schools permission lucky he walked home, got a frantic call from his teacher asking if he was at home as he wasn't at school, its all out of normal behaviour, his current teacher says he wont cope with all the changes in secondary school without alot of support (we have another year yet) i need to get the support in place for when he moves but school doesn't seem to want to help its crazy.
I imagine their concern is there won’t be extra funding given but an EHCP will take funding out of their day to day pot and give it to his needs meaning they’ll be taking a hit and the amount won’t be enough to change anything without them spending more. That shouldn’t be your concern though really. The LA and Gov need to pay schools more to run properly.
Is he in for full days? Whilst it’s not going well they might feel they can cope another year as is without exclusions etc. Our school wasn’t really coping at all because they’re not as geared up for it. They’ve started to adapt though which is helpful

@@SheepdogSays sounds about right, looks like i might spend another year just getting through it till secondary and see what happens there.
