- Art journaling is a wonderful creative pursuit. It lets you explore new materials, develop techniques, work through ideas, ponder over problems and just get messy for the fun of getting messy. Whatever your reason for journalling, we are all sometimes faced with a blank page and no ideas, so in this film I share lots of mixed media techniques for creating a monochrome page... but I couldn't resist a few pops of colour along the way. We use collage, stencils, modelling past, stamping and more. I give alternatives too, as I think you should use what you already have before dashing off to get more supplies.
If you enjoy this, please like, comment and subscribe. Each like or comment boosts the film so that it is shown to more people. If you really, really liked this content and want to support you can donate at Kofi. If you like this content and want to support you can donate at Kofi. I have lots more journal films if you want to catch up too, such as this one of getting started: • Getting started in art...
My journal is a handmade one - if you want to see how I made it, please take a look here: • How to make a watercol...
Every week I share a tip, trick or technique I wish I had known when I started painting, so if you enjoyed this please like, comment and subscribe. Or if you have a watercolour problem, let me know and maybe I can help?

Oh Liz this one is my favorite of you art journaling collage layouts. I love 💕 the arts 🎭 🎶& science 🧬 🧪 along with the cute pops of colors you have added. Thanks for sharing this wonderful fun video tutorial! Hope you’re enjoying a wonderful Happy Easter 🐣🐇!!

Thank you!! 😊
Very nice Liz.
Thank you! 😊
Happy Easter, Liz! A Canadian fan
happy Easter too!
Dear Liz , a really interesting video thanks. I honestly can't believe someone could think that you would purposely destroy a book 🙄you are just giving it's well read, tired pages a new lease of life and creating something beautiful out of it and something that you can look at lovingly for ever and ever 😊 Happy Easter 🐣
thank you so much. a lovely way of looking at it…l
I cleared the "non-letter-parts" of my stamps (printing blocks) because like you I didn't like the shadow when I stamped a letter. I like the statement of your page 😊
Happy Easter 🥰
happy Easter. That’s a great idea
Happy Easter Liz! I love this video; I struggle a bit with bright colour ways so perhaps should try with tones of one colour and the odd pop of colour. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
Yes, a monochrome of different shades of the one colour might be the way to go
you are right about books. The amount of books from charity shops that get chucked into recycling is crazy. I rescued some cookery books from the eighteen hndreds from my local tip too. I find hand written recepies in cookery books, which i use in collage, shopping lists, and photos, and they live again with n collage. I didnt use the old cookery books but i do use ones from the sixties, alng with the old adverts. They would either sit on a shelf or be thrown out otherwise. In one i found a list on an old envelope with a 1925 post mark. It may as well be used, i think, and the history. As well as the person, who was a captain, lives on😊
100%! I like that people love on through our art
@@LizChadertonArt me too. I actually did a piece on an old photo today, finding the studio building and using bits which were around when it was open, like fashion and rations. It was great fun
I love black and white - with a few pops of color - sounds like my wardrobe😁! So I really like this spread!! Of course, I so enjoy hearing your thought process and I always manage to pick up a few tips that will work for my card making: Printing on tissue paper!! Using gouache instead of regular watercolor with the stencils!! (As you may remember, I ordered stencils after one of your other videos...and it's hard not to get leakage...good thing is...I already have some gouache to try it out!) Thanks for sharing, Liz!!
I love your comments and feedback! thank you 🤩

Hello dear Liz
If you don't mind, advise me, when you paint with a lot of water on dry paper, how do you prepare the paper? What should Scotch be like? Any paper tape or is there a special one for wet paper? thank you in advance
if I am painting on a separate sheet of paper, I use ordinary masking tape to keep it in place. Is that what you were asking?
