What a remarkable woman. Her intimate knowledge of the human condition and psyche is amazing.

    I love the artwork.
I also love the way she creates and describes the spiritual aspect of what happens to Cromwell at the end. She was a special writer.

I wish I believed in an afterlife. It would give me great pleasure to think of Ms Mantel sitting down with Cromwell for a bit of a chat. If I am ever fortunate enough to ask Ms Mantell a question, I would ask her what would be the first question she would ask Master Comwell.

Amazing - she is allowed to think, talk, ramble.....questioning herself while she is answering, whistfull and deep. Sheds great light on the reading of the books. Outstanding!

I red 3 times "the Mirror and the Light" in French, and the 2 other novels too , because I love it and I am French, and now I am going to read if in English, because the style is not common and I want to see what it is in English !

Stunning, how she successfully sees the historical world in an empathetic and realistic manner. As an interviewed writer she wrangles with her perception and moves forward in her thinking and presentation, in this case orally. Most enjoyable, thanks for making this interview/talk available.

Listening to this after having read “The Mirror and the Light” my enormous respect for Dame Hilary has grown even more. “The Mirror and the Light” was the absolute perfect ending of her Wolf Hall trilogy.

I could listen to Hilary Mantel talk about anything - and what a great interview. I don't understand how Hilary's mind works but - wow - do we enjoy the benefit of how she thinks! She is truely brilliant.

I could and WOULD, if possible, listen to her reading the football scores or the Yellow Pages.

I once heard her in a radio interview and was put off reading her books by how silly it all seemed. But am so glad I gave this a go. I now wonder how much difference the interviewer makes as well as the sound engineer as her voice was high and childlike. Mind you she is a slow speaker.

Ms. Mantel is the most brilliant novelist in ages, and the best historical novelist, by far, ever. Reading this series is totally immersion in Cromwell’s world. I’ve always loved historical fiction for its ability to transport us to another time and place. Reading is my relaxation, I’m just not very interested in reading novels about modern problems, they surround us every day.

A truly captivating person in addition to all the deserved literary and analytical accolades. I must call attention to what few, if any, have on the graphic---yes, more gradually comes into focus and you aren't imagining.

Her greatness, as in all great writers, is the ability to read her own work objectively, or from the reader’s point of view. Everyone understands what they mean when they write, the trick is to understand how others will see it.

I've heard that Howard Duke of Norfolk had gotton the executioner drunk the night before and payed him to be sloppy. Cromwell did not have an easy death. It took 3 stroks of the ax to take his head. Henry VIII was heard to have said after his death, "There was never a better servant then Cromwell" and missed him.
