Saw this last Friday night! The production is magnificent and harkens back to the great days when the Met was the Met!!! I have seen and heard few things in my life to rival this sensational production. Everything was as fine as could be. I could hear every singer, the orchestra was fantastic and, again, the production is simply, out of this world, sensational! Mr. Gelb! This is what opera is... and should be!!! Bravi!
MIstakes in music and life happen, and we as humans must find ways to collectively and individually get over it. I say this as a musician myself. What is important is that they got back on the horse and continued with professionalism. What is a grave mistake is that this is not being shown in HD and preserved for future enjoyment and reference while other productions which have already had multiple HDs must be given an nth repeat. I have no problem with Ms. Lindstrom's performance in the least. I have enjoyed Ms. Goerke's, Ms. Ludwig's, and Ms. Behrens in the past. Each person is different. It is possible that another person's first choice was not available for this run or has taken it out of their performing repertoire. You hire who is available.
Why does the Met’s social media team not check these uploads with the music staff. Around 0:50 she enters half a bar early, and both she and Nina look at the conductor/prompter in confusion. It’s a 3 hour opera and you pick 2 minutes where a major error happens?
That is not a major error and this is live theatre and sometimes the audience wants to be let into the mistakes as well as everything else. It makes the experience more human.
I looked at the video and did not notice anyone looking at the conductor in any intentional way. She is so committed to communicating the text and the music that I could not allow myself to focus on a musical mistake. Your brain must be wired differently. Maybe you should just listen to studio recordings where they are able to smooth out mistakes through multiple takes.
@@operas6 I’m sure the soprano would disagree, I’m sure she would’ve rather any other clip from this 3 hour clip be uploaded. The orchestra is doubling her and the mistake is very obvious - it just shows the lack of care that the Met’s marketing team has by not consulting the music staff before selecting clips to post.
@@ArgerichStan Unless you work at the Met you have no knowledge of the relationship between the music staff and the publicity department. Assumption on the part of someone on the outside are merely assumptions. And you couldn't possibly be sure what the soprano thought about this post because you do not reside inside her head...unless. you know her personally and she confided in you.
@@draganvidic2039 difficult opera, difficult parts.....You need 5 excellent singers and be able to speak German ( and in this production we habe singers well- known for the German repertory) and not only to speak but also to pronoun it clearly ( sometimes a big problem even for those artists familiar with German )

Orchestra playing is god level.
Thank you!

@ I work in the industry and I know :)
no bottom to the voice.
Wie üblich , kein Wort zu verstehen.....typisch gerade bei dieser Oper
Sorry, but this sounds like wobbly screeching to me, but the orchestra is fine!
Thank you for sharing. That was very helpful. I hope you get a job at the Met coaching and casting singers.
She just doesn't sound like a dramatic soprano to me. The color is just not there.
It’s not dark but still got lots of metal. Maybe more of a Salome or Kaiserin.
