    Laptop Disassembly Guide:
Disassembling your laptop may seem daunting, but I'll break it down into easy-to-follow steps. You'll learn how to remove the laptop's casing, locate and clean the heatsink and fans, and access to CPU for thermal paste replacement. By following this guide, you'll gain a deeper understanding of your laptop's internals and how to keep it running smoothly.
    Fan Cleaning Techniques:
Dust and debris can accumulate in your laptop's fans and heatsink over time, leading to reduced airflow and increased temperatures. I'll show you effective methods to clean your laptop using an antistatic brush and proper handling techniques. By keeping your cooling system clean, you'll prevent overheating and extend the lifespan of your laptop.
    Thermal Paste Replacement:
Thermal paste plays a crucial role in transferring heat from the laptop's CPU and GPU to the heatsink. However, over time, a thermal paste can dry out and lose its effectiveness. I'll guide you through the process of removing the old thermal paste and applying a fresh, high-quality one. This step is vital for optimal heat dissipation and temperature management. Don't let an overheating laptop slow you down! Watch this comprehensive guide and take control of your laptop's temperature. By performing regular fan cleaning and thermal paste replacement, you'll ensure smooth operation, prevent hardware damage, and extend the life of your laptop. This is the best tutorial I have found on the WEB. Very concise and right to the point. Since it was a first attempt of this kind it did take some time to accomplish and inevitably, I have missed few steps on final assembly of the parts. Watch out for the flat ribbon cables, t may look as they are connected, yet they simply lay on the top of the connector. Happened to the switch and touch pad connectors. I do have to admit: I did end up with 3 extra screws, no idea where they were supposed to go. However laptop is working perfectly so I do not worry about it.
    Thanks again.

What I did was detach the fan blades from its housing and place a drop of sewing machine oil on the spindle/axle part before reassembling.

Hey Man, thank you for the tutorial, I tried to repeat the process on my Aspire to clean the cooling fan, and it seems to be working. It ws my first attempt at something like this and it was really helpful for a beginner like me. Thanks again, keep it up!

I used black electrical tape on mine, although I have to admit, the factory tape seemed more super sticky

Don't know if you'll see this 8 years later, but if you don't own the special fan tape you could also use electrical tape.

I believe that the 5742 screws are all Philips, though a lot of disassembly is required to get to the fan and heatsink, so not for the faint of hearted!
