- Some TikToks to get you through self isolation. Luckily my school only closed next week so i have rehearsal this week, but then imma be home for 6 weeks :I
But it’s all for the best, so stay healthy and wash yo hands! My heart goes out to anyone who’s had shows cancelled because of the virus, I can’t imagine putting in all the work for it to get taken away💕
The ensemble is underrated. Here’s why:
1. They make the show
2. They make sure a lot of kids can participate in theatre
3. They give kids who aren’t really good a chance to enjoy being in a theatre cult
4. They fill the stage so it doesn’t look empty
5. It isn’t necessary to be a great singer because you sing with a lot of people
6. They fill the voids in the dressing rooms

Ye but the people in charge of the show don't care about u like half as much because it doesn't matter if 1 or 2 of u aren't there. They won't hear anything from you or give you much time with them.
@@mayacooke7843 depends on who your working with...I had the opportunity to be in both the ensemble and as the female swing role, so I definitely noticed how he spoke differently towards ensemble than the actually main leads, but he always made an effort to lesson to us and include our ideas as best he could. He often let us experiment with them, and then he'd decide whether or not he liked it or how it could improve. My new project just got postponed, but Ive notice they spent a lot more time with the ensemble, So, I think it all just depends on who you work with really????
I agree! Also, you can have the BEST leads but if your ensemble sucks, your show sucks. I'm in love with directors who put loads of people in the ensemble and actually. direct. them. The directors I've worked with actually work with the ensemble quite a bit. Not as much as leads, but definitely more than most.
@@kylieyeast15 my last show, the director just kinda let the ensemble do what they want, but with my most recent show, they spend A LOT of time with them! They don't get one on ones like leads, but they work just as hard as the leads ! Shows really wouldn't be much if it wasn't for the ensemble cast ! I don't know why people don't like being in the ensemble tbh? It's just as good as a lead !
Yeah but if you worked really hard for an audition, get a callback, kinda nail the callback, then the same girl who got the lead last year gets one of the leads instead of you, it gets so annoying and boring.

I think because it’s overplayed and it may be the issue with the story for some people if the story doesn’t interest them it isn’t good just because the music is good doesn’t mean it’s a good musical for most people

I was watching another video and the person straight up called it sh*t! kay so bmc was my 2nd musical i ever listened to (it was like 2016,) and i was IN LOVE with it. I was there for basically everything (exit 82-bway closing.) but then i read the novel and was like "WOW this is way better."
I kinda liked it for a bit but my taste in music changed and I just kinda grew out of it I guess. It feels almost childish when I listen to it now

Respect BMC! Just because the Broadway version was a fucking disgrace doesnt mean the great songs carried over need hate. Michael in the Bathroom is a great song, that was sung, VERY well. And honestly, the musical beat the book at it's own game.
I personally don’t get why some people will hate, or discriminate against musical theater fans because all the musicals they like are popular. (You know which ones I’m talking about) liking something that is popular does NOT make you less of a theater fan, and you are not a better theater fan because you’ve listened to more musicals, or your favorite musical isn’t super well known.
Everybody started somewhere. Don’t tell people they are not a real theater fan because they prefer Hamilton over something else. They might have listened to a bunch of musicals, but still prefer the more popular ones.
The popular ones generally have a bigger fan base, there for they can be more enjoyable. If you can’t find fan art, fanfic, memes, or animatics of a musical, there is less to do in the fandom, and you might not have as many people to talk to about your favorite musicals.
Sorry about my little rant, but I hope you guys understand what I mean ^^

Ensemble doesn’t mean that they are not talented just because they didn’t get the lead. To be in a broadway or Westend show is just an amazing thing. Why do people suddenly start to judge because they didn’t get the lead role. Being ensemble in Matilda is amazing!!! The dancing is so much fun especially in the chocolate cake scene. The ensemble got into a professional show!!! That is an amazing thing!!! But just because they didn’t get the lead people think less of them like they don’t have any confidence. Well sometimes they are more talented then the lead. Sorry about this but I just wanted to say it as I’ve been in the West end and I just wanted you to know. 😁
The dancing in Matilda is amazing as hell! I was in Matilda a bunch of times and when I saw it at the Paper Mill my mind was blown. It's that awesome.

A Forever122 yes, it is? compared to other shows the lyrics aren’t that impressive, the score doesn’t stand out much, dont even get me started on how awful they rewrote the characters, and honestly it is a bit overrated considering all the credit it gets. the story is great- i’m a huge fan of the movie, but the musical is just average. i used to be a huge fan of the show, and i still enjoy the track from time to time, but your love for a show shouldn’t intervene with looking at it from a professional perspective.

I'm kinda really sad. I was a week away form being in my first show where I was a main character with actual lines. I was going to be Amy from Little Women, and I was so excited. But then my school shut down, and originally they had postponed the play (we were going to film it with only the cast members, and then keep the recording at least) but then they completely cancelled our show. I feel bad for the other cast members, especially the seniors in school, because this would have been their last musical before they graduate. Today would have been my last show of Little Women if it hadn't been cancelled. 🙁

I wish my school had musical theater, but we just have a single drama class. No music class. There is a music extracurricular that meets for 20 minutes a week, and puts on two concerts a year. Some schools have a low budget for art, our art class is taught by an english teacher that can't even draw a straight line. There is no art budget at my school. It sucks.
