Watts begins with scholarship and intellect and proceeds with art and eloquence to the frontiers of the spirit. A fascinating entry into the deepest ways of knowing.” - Los Angeles Times

      That's not the message. Its get involved with greater things and then you will cultivate a great personality. For example, one can get involved in a sport and go through those processes that lead to success such as discipline persevered, industriousness, and so on and in the end he will become a successful person whom others look up to.

    Thank you for this just looking at this short brought me to a realization that the root to my anxiety is that I cling to me. But I also realize that trying to do something about that would result to more self destruction so I just watch it, accept it and remain aware and eventually my anxiety will no longer rule me.

    I believe we are allready all we can ever be. And the only real task we have in this life is getting out of our own way to let that 100% shine through without interference of our ego.

      @maltonic42 3 місяці тому +4

      Yes, it is just noticing what we already are, rather than becomming something (enlightened etc.).
      This is important to know, because most people think, they are seeking something special, that they have never experienced before, but they are already that many times at any day. Its just not recognized and then there comes all that mental noise again. Then it seems, to be not existent at all.

    • @Spiritual.Madness
      @Spiritual.Madness 3 місяці тому +1

      @@maltonic42 well put and so true. It actually reminds me of this thing I read the other day. About a woman who knows she's been true many traumatizing experiences. Yet she doesnt know why she doesnt feel anything about it. So she goes out looking. Looking obsessively for details about what happened to see if she can feel it. Than she has this insight that the fact she doenst feel it, IS the effect of the trauma. And then you realise the trauma has always been embued with yourself. And it becomes so tangible and essential in your experience. Just like the discovery of the true self.

    It fundamentally boils down to a simple concept. People are not interested in you for no reason, they are interested in you because of what you offer them, wether that's business, insight, financial assistance, sex, laughter.. whatever. If you're only interested in yourself then you don't really have anything to offer anyone

      Do you think that a personality is a particular expression of a general (archetypal) pattern of behavior? It is true that we cycle through identities as we move through the day and through our life, and woe to those who never change.

      Alan actually charged for most of his live lectures, all his books, and his audio/video recordings. He never identified as a guru, rather he claimed to be an entertainer.
      His son, Mark, travelled with him for many years, recording his talks, editing and packaging them for distribution. Together they set up the Electronic University, now the Alan Watts Org, and Mark continues Alan’s efforts to be a custodian to the integrity of his father’s voice, helping to spread Alan’s potent, yet lighthearted, message for the world to enjoy.
      However, all of this energy input by Mark continues to require resources… so we are still offering Alan’s work in fresh formats to the public - in exchange for their support.
      We hope you’ll find value, or at least understanding, in this response, and in the restored and remastered audio we’ve been working diligently to provide.
