Loraine- use last years garlic to make garlic powder. Then yiu can eat the fresh and use last years for powder without losing any. Love all your family’s videos! Always get excited to see what y’all are doing.
It must be a very satisfying feeling to know that the food you grow is sufficient to sustain your family. We grow 36 to 40 bulbs of garlic every year, so your harvest blows me away. Until next time.
If you have excess garlic left from last year and it's still good, make a few pints of fermented garlic in honey. It's my go-to medicine for whatever ails you!😊
I grow hard neck garlic too. I really like the scapes. I made popcorn and added dehydrated garlic to the butter delicious. I also made pesto from the scapes.
So glad to see you using animal fats to cook - so healthy for you! Every nutrient you need is in beef. Nothing in plants that you can't get from beef. Beef heals.
with garlic the slower it cures the better, mine often cure for a month. I still have some from last year sitting in the basket ready to use, I'll dehydrate whats left for powder when mine is ready to harvest in about a month
With retirement I have been back in the garden and I have a question for anyone that may have a clue. This year my Zucchini is growing great but I have no flowers so no fruit. The plants are still young so I'm still holding out hope, anyone have similar problem? and any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated
It is a good idea but just because they are eating a lot of carbs doesn't mean a direct line to diabetes. They are pretty active which means they need more carbs. A lot of thier carbs are produce based and veggies; not too much for sugar compared to many.
I Love watching you guys your such a Beautiful family and your videos I Love 🩷I am receiving my first time any farm animal I ordered 7 egg layers , I have a backyard , limited But I was wondering any ideas of a great Organic no soy no corn feed that’s healthy
I am familiar with the book Hungry Planet. My son checked the book out from the library a number of years ago. Our family was quite interested in the book and sat around and read it together. A definite eye opener! Tie your garlic in bunches and hang them from the rafters. Recycle your bailing twine to do that with. I have great respect for your farming techniques and how you are building it all. SOW THE LAND HAS IT GOING ON!
😂 "228...yeah...that's about right"....😂 (said with extreme nonchalance...😂).... I'm super happy when I can get 12! 😂 I need to improve my gardening skills...!!😂 Love your channel!
Lorraine, I think you said you’re making your own cream cheese? Can you do a video showing how? I make my own yogurt and sour cream but I don’t know how to do cream cheese.
I'm still having problems growing cabbage, beets and broccoli. Of course growing in raised beds, not a high tunnel is different. Always interesting to see how homesteaders eat fresh, good food.
Where do "INE BERRIES" that you said you grind up and make bread, cookies, etc, come from? Do they come from grocery stores? And do you know how it grows, do you grow it?
Wonderful to have a big harvest of garlic....it lends such a nice flavor to food YUM❗ Agree with Lorraine on using broth instead of water for cooking rice. Thank you for sharing~~💚
Hello Jason, Lorraine, and Miss Penelope. I wanted to give Lorraine an idea for her garlic…if you already know or do this just ignore me. lol Just thought I’d share because I myself just started using it this way and it’s DELICIOUS. If you grate your garlic 🧄 with a micro plain it makes it soooo much more flavorful. It’s more pungent and spicy and it also extends your garlic because you don’t need as much. Anywho, I just thought I’d share so you can try it too if you haven’t. Take care and God bless you all. ~ Lisa
Hello you guys I have been following from your last homestead. And you are getting more and more self supported on your newer homestead. I’m learning g along with you guys. I don’t have a homestead myself but my daughter and her family were wanting to buy some land to have their own homestead. So I will have your videos to share with them. That is very interesting about that book you showed what you eat in a week is a good insight what you can harvest from you homesteading and didn’t have to buy from the stores or others. Bartering is what my grand parents used to do trail their eggs and chickens for the farmer that had cows for their milk cheese and beef. It’s a win win in my book. Thank for sharing your video hope you have a good rest of your day.
Awesome video.🥰 Thanks for sharing how much more food you grow now. Lorraine and Penelope are great at baking, meal planning and preserving food. Beautiful garlic harvest!! I enjoy your content and never miss a video. 🤗❣️🌿
Blessings from ( Tj) Baja have you had the Baja dill veggies sold in Maneadero it has coliflower, chiles hueritos (yellow peppers can be sustituded with jalapeños) pickels sorry for mi grammar im Mexican
You really surprised me that you cook your eggs in butter when you have bacon fat. I don't have tallow or lard and hate using oils much so nearly everything is butter or bacon drippings. If bacon flavor helps that decides it. But for baking it really is not helpful so butter or maybe a bit of olive oil. I do keep some olive oil with red chilies on hand for when spicy is wanted though. Found that in a specialty shop once and been making my own since then.
Love your dress, Loraine. You look so pretty. THANK GOD, YOU ARE BLESSED. VERY PROUD OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🔥 🥵 HOT TEMP. HIGH 90S TO 105 HEAT INDEX THIS WEEK. GRAND TO HAVE CLEAN FOODS.
While i realize my dairy consumption is higher than most (one of my sons and his wife drink 1/2 gallon of blue milk (nonfat🤮) every 2 weeks i thought they were the weird ones instead of me. I used to limit myself to a gallon per week for just me but was always feeling like i was rationing myself. Because of some health issues and research i made the decision to increase my consumption to what seems more compatible to me i am now consuming 3+ gallons per week plus increased my healthy fats. In the last year and a half i have dropped 4 dress sizes without dieting plus feeling much better. I think if i dropped down that low again i would be an unhappy camper. Thanks for sharing what your family eats in a week.
Keep thriving, your doing great. My new husband is learning alot. Poor guy reminds me of Jason's struggles. But as my husband says a little mexineering it works out. 😊 keep it real kids. 😊

Maybe it's mentioned lower in the comments, but I'm interested in the flower making process. Can we see your process and what you grind with? :)
So impressive!
228 heads of garlic! I grew 32 heads and figured I was doing pretty good. Haha
Have you ever tried to pickle garlic? I buy olives stuffed with garlic. It is so good so I thought pickling garlic would be a good snack.
Amazing!
I knew this would be good and I was right!
You should be having a lot of orders for Kune Kune!
Great video
Fast food means how fast can you run down cellar for a quart of this or that! 💙
Have you guys thought about doing like cold cut meat if so I would love to see the video.
On my way for taco night 🤣🤣 I’ll bring cannoli’s for dessert, chocolate, vanilla and Italian sweet cream cheese 😎👍
What kind of cabbage did you grow this year? I really like the way it looks Yum.
The Hollar’s will help you eat it!😂
Ground sheep, lol I spit my food.
Have you thought about growing wheat in the future
If you have a milk cow you could make your cheese and yogurt instead of buying it
Have you tried Garlic Confit?
Some pig babies went to new homes? Great video

Just get tested for pre diabetes this year!!!❤
It is a good idea but just because they are eating a lot of carbs doesn't mean a direct line to diabetes. They are pretty active which means they need more carbs. A lot of thier carbs are produce based and veggies; not too much for sugar compared to many.
Try chocolate zucchini brownies they are sooooo good.
Do you trade for somethings? Example you have extra zucchini and a friend doesn't but has extra carrots?
Thanks folks
No tomato sandwiches with all those tomatoes?
You’re not from the south?
I Love watching you guys your such a Beautiful family and your videos I Love 🩷I am receiving my first time any farm animal I ordered 7 egg layers , I have a backyard , limited But I was wondering any ideas of a great Organic no soy no corn feed that’s healthy

I roast my garlic, put in a jar, cover with olive oil, and store in the fridge. It lasts all year and I get garlic infused olive oil to boot. 👍
Do you roast it with the peels on? How long and at what temp? Just enough oil to cover the garlic?
Tallow, lard are the best for cooking.
avoid all seed oils.
Yep! Seed oils are linked with the big C, turning carcinogenic at relatively low temperatures. 😕
Sow that land folks .. amazing abundance right to the table.. Thanks folks 🙏 ❤

May i request a video from Lorraine on how to make kimchi?
Wow 228 bulbs. That’s a bulb every couple days. That’ll keep you healthy!🧄
Its good to support local farmers when you can so i would say keep buying that sheep milk
That is a table full of healthy abundance!
This is everything we eat in a week, also known as a Hollar Boys' afternoon snack assortment. LoL
Fun video, Thanks for posting.
Milk cows are the most labor intensive farm animal. Great if you can get your raw milk from a good source.
Tks for video.Tks for a show of pigs. Table FULL of good foods. WOW what a harvest of garlic. Much love to ya,
Those are hands down the cutest pigs ever!!!!
I just love the way y’all work together to make things come together! Lorraine needs to produce her very own cookbook!!❤❤😊
I haven't been able to go to Farmers Market yet this season because I need back surgery and walking is just too much.

It all looks wonderful-you’re so blessed with abundance-
We were milking our sheep. The best way I can explain sheep milk is like.... luxurious cows milk. It’s almost like pure cream. Very rich! So good!!!
Your harvested veggies are looking really good.

I also love those Hungry Planet photos. So insightful.
