There are no rules for infinity bottles, but I just decided to make mine something I could share with someone and tell them they are drinking all the VW, BTAC, OF, 4RLE, etc.
I am pretty certain that I am the reason that you came up with the idea for this because getting to sample your infinite bottle was fantastic for me and I told you that I thought that it was better than anything else I tasted that night. Thank you for giving me the chance to taste your collection!

This is such a good video and has given me so much hope in how I chose to curate my own infinity bottle. I started my infinity at the beginning of December and I plan to take a pour from and share for the start of the New Years. It is a collection of 2oz pours from 14 of my absolute favorites I accumulated in 2023. (38 bottles = $1801.23). It came all the way to the top so I immediately had to take it down the neck a bit to cork back up. I hope in the month it has enough time to really marry everything together for a fantastic pour. I know they are called infinite bottles and since this is my first this will forever continue but I love the idea of starting a new 'blend' or catalogue of the all time best bottles I experience in the year. The ones I always find myself reaching for and purchasing and those rare ones I get my hands on. I have one question though for the experienced: With my collection being so small is 2oz samples adequate or for a 750ml bottle should I be doing 1oz samples? I did 2oz because I wanted it to be a collection of the best I have. But I could be persuaded to do 1oz samples of the ones I love and are more available and 2oz on the rare ones that I love that I may only be able to afford and find once a year.
There are no hard and fast rules, but I think if you limit to your favorites you'll love your infinity. There have been times I haven't measured what I poured but others like to keep track of what they pour in case they ever want to recreate it. To each their own. Cheers!
My wife and I have an infinity blend that is "curated" to only things that both of us enjoy go in. It is part of our Anniversary tradition to take a sip on our anniversary!

I don't really drink from mine unless I am trying to make space for a new bottle. Of course if it gets hit hard I have so many open bottles it is easy for me to refill it, although I don't track or measure.
Infinity bottles are also a ton of fun 🎉 Sometimes they're fantastic, other times confusing, but always fun to keep and experience how they change over time.
We made an infinite bottle at our last Society bottle share. We put some of everyone's bottle and then everyone got a pour. It was amazing and, it will be a new tradition at our get togethers. Then, we raffle it off to add to whatever fundraiser we're doing.

Ive had the fortunate opportunity to try all those bottles and Ive always come away telling myself they’re not worth the secondary prices that people are willing to pay, except maybe WLW (lol, the one I tried was incredible).
For bottles I didn't love enough to put into my Infinity, I have blended and experimented with various finishing projects: port-soaked French oak cubes, toasted American oak spirals, even a teeny bit of amburana. Quite often I've made something surprisingly pleasant out of some otherwise "meh" bottles.
That's a great idea! People shouldn't be afraid to experiment! I've been doing something similar with leftover bottles from videos adding cube finished Unallocated to increase the proof and broaden the flavors. Cheers!
Very interesting blind today, thanks for sharing. Question. I've heard blenders talk about reaching a point where the blend just falls flat. Too many inputs pulling in too many directions such that the sum is less than the whole. Its been this logic that has turned me off from an infinity bottle - not to mention the infinity and solera bottles I've purchased that have been suspect. What are your thoughts? Where do you land on the topic? Of course I'd love to challenge my thinking with a pour from your blend! Thanks.
I've not personally heard a blender say that, and my personal experience with doing barrel picks (as we often blend all of the samples together at the end) is that the infinity pour is often better than the barrel we selected. The difference between industry blenders and an infinity bottle is that industry blenders are obligated to use every barrel for financial reasons. There are two types of blending, the first is to blend for the best profile, and in that instance, you have bad barrels that need to be used and the more you put in the further you get from your objective, but also the more financially beneficial it is. The second is blending for consistency and in that instance it becomes formulaic and you fix tasting variants by increasing volume. When making an infinity you're under no obligation to use any whiskey that you don't think is a good fit so it's much easier to blend an infinity than it is for industry blenders using barrels.
I've taken a stab at an ♾️ Bottle but I did what mentioned. Some decent stuff but also some stuff I wasn't fond of. Great Advice and Great Blind. Keep it up team!

I have thought about experimenting with blending and possibly starting an infinity bottle. I don't think I would just dump a little of everything into it since I have things that would likely clash with each other, and I have some spirits that are extremely strongly flavored and might dominate the blend (unless used very sparingly). My infinity bottle, if I ever start it up, might be quite strange since I'm a spirit enthusiast in general. Blending various types of rum, brandy, agave spirits, baijiu, and whisky could result in an interesting mix if the individual spirits are chosen carefully.
Awesome blind. I have what I call the "kitchen sink" infinity bottle. All unflavored whiskey goes in. Two ounces of each, except scotches (only one). I don't want overwhelm the mix. It actually does not taste too bad.
it is very possible. Ive done several infinity bottles now and several recipes and the amounts of each bourbon ive put in. love doing infinity bottles.. One thing i've never done though is mix scotches and/or irish whiskies with bourbon. I've done ryes, a few turned out good mixing bourbons and a few ryes.
This video has motivated me to work on my own infinity bottle. I think it needs more proof and rye. Maybe if I win I will just add Randy's pour to mine..........
Nice. When I first started I had too much low proof rye, so I drank it down and started over. It is obviously fine now. Don't be afraid to change directions.

Did a similar thing recently..5th pour in the blind was a mix of the other 4. Came in 2nd!
Infinity glass at the end of a single barrel selection is usually better than the barrel picked.

How do you get a good seal on your Infinity bottle? My decanter just has a glass top and I worry that it won't seal well enough.
I don't think it would affect it very much as long as your bottle stays full.

All infinity bottles are special, and they're super fun to make, but don't be afraid to start over if you don't like the direction yours is going. I've done it too!

Depends on what you put in them. I keep bourbon and rye’s separate and only use what I drink. So yes it matters what you put into your bottle.
