Inflight meals expenditure dropped in FY23 versus FY15, maybe that explain why the selection and quality of food in the lounge (e.g. laksa portion has reduced!!!) has dropped, etc. I do not think it's because of lower food costs, but rather an outcome of aggressive costs cutting by the management. And yet they're paying themselves 8 months bonus this year, and 6 months bonus last year. This is not an organic growth strategy.
I think SIA still have potential. Due to the Red Sea crises, cargo yield and load is trending up in the last few months. This could be reflected in the coming quarters. They are reducing cost. I just come back via SQ flight, no more free newspaper, the KrisWorld catalogue is much smaller than pre-covid….
The question is how long will you hold it for. I have no problem holding SIA and reinvesting dividends. In 25 years it’ll be worth more. If you won’t hold a stock for 10 years don’t invest! Maybe deal in narcotics or don’t buy shares
The airlines industry is probably the most competitive business to be invested in for the long term. High capex, low margins, volatile oil prices, cyclical markets, unforeseen incidents/accidents, low margins amongst others. You get my drift🤔
i will never buy airlines businesses. No economic moat business i might prefer Reits over airlines tho their high payout ratio which could have been reinvested is annoying
When SIA made money, their staffs take tonnes of the profit money, much more than their shareholders... When SIA shares & profits crashed into huge loss, their shareholders lost tonnes of value and will be hitted by Rights issue diluting shareholders value. Therefore, if profitable = staffs take more ; If SIA lost tonnes of money = shareholders loss alot plus pay out more money to shore up SIA via Rights issue .... Both ways and SIA shareholders always get Shorter End of the sticks.... SIA is not a long-term investment stock.... It is only attractive when their price crashed to the floor and we, as new investors, we scoop up all the blood bled by older shareholders .... ... We bought SIA around $3.60 during Covid, prior to that we didn't touch SIA for almost 20 yrs, sold all around $16 back in around year 2000s
You are missing the point. Staffs only took a pay cut, but shareholders loss alot of value and won't receive any dividend pay out for couple of years + shareholders have to folk out extra money to take up it's Rights to avoid dilutions ... Thus, in all measures, shareholders of SIA got more to lose during difficult times. However, during good times, SIA shareholders don't get as much as what the staffs are getting
Why need to QC the entire fleet? It’s turbulence, rather common in air travels, must b a really bad severe one to cause injuries n a death, was he buckled up? Condolences to the family.
For past 25 years, the average low point of STI and average high point had a spread of around 100% or so HK & TW stock market had a spread of around 300% during same period S&P 500 has around 1900% spread during similar period I wonder how you conclude Sg stocks can perform moving forward By the way, even our own companies ( eg SEA, Grab, Shein, etc) won't even consider to list in our SGX, worst, not even dual - listing. Our stock market is sick
I looking for CNA news video but only the live CNA is covering this as far as I can find. But ironically, many countries have released videos covering the death in the great SIA airlines

In summary what he's trying to say is don't buy SQ shares @this price.
All of the months of bonus is based on their basic salary. Not their full monthly salary. Actually not much....

Wow the cost cutting. POV noted
Josh, Bonus is based on pilots basic pay only ..which is low like 2k.. pilot gets allowance each time they fly..
Nonsense..Captain's basic pay is from around 13k. First officer about 7-8k basic pay. Only cabin crew basic pay is notmuch... Starting around 1.4k.
@@Fiat-kl6ltthat’s captain not junior pilots😂

Accident due to weather is not an airline issue. Any airline can suay suay one.
when it crash tmr - buy some and keep
Agreed with you, put our money to worked harder for us, ie other areas which can generate higher income without being lucky.
It take ao many years to build the good records of the flight but one mistake to bring it down. Let's see how SIA perform tomorrow.
This tutorial is beyond this incident and projecting profitability for the next 4 quarters ahead
It's just one incident...not much impact on it's shares value ..long term prospects 😊
This tutorial is beyond this incident and projecting profitability for the next 4 quarters ahead
hope for competitive fares😁
it might crash tmr since a plane full of injured passengers and 1 dead landed in BKK earlier
Solly Uncle Josh, this one die-die must invest, because, I am patriotic, I love Singapore, Majulah Singapura
And I spend way too much money flying
lol okok 👍
Buy buy buy!! Buy 100 lots
Did sia got handouts from taxpayers during COVID? Got return handouts ?
Not directly from taxpayer. From temasek which will sweep up the excess rights and MCB so technical gov owns more of SIA now?
SIA : suffering in agony ?
i will never buy airlines businesses. No economic moat business

After they announced the 8mths bonus, now that the accident happened. They will need to qc the entire fleet
