Wow, what a great comment and compliment! I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 10 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 450 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. Ratatouille honey. Yum. I have those PVC gloves on my amazon list. lol Lots of honey. Better frame it up for them this time of year. Yeah, those tight spaces make you work muscles you didn't know you had. Queen clips are designed to be impossible to get out of your bee suit pocket. Nice job framing that all up. Great looking comb. Like the camera work and stop action shots. That was some tough looking wrangling. I would definitely need a visit to the chiropractor after working that area. Great job. Thanks and God bless.
The life of a bee wrangler is full of fun.....and pain, but I'm very happy to share my adventures. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Garry. Mr. Ed
Hi, Mr. Fuzzy and with non-watermelon hands I dare say it was hard times working off a ladder in a 3 foot space but you're the man can handle it. Rooster would have to jack the house up. Charlie did a fine job of camera juggling and queen cage wrangling. Glad you got all that honey. My sugar was 95 so it could stand to go up a little. Thanks, Buddy, Jesus weekend and HI 2 MOM!
The Rooster would have lifted the house with one of those watermelon hands and simply scooped the hive out with the other hand, set the house back down, pack up his gear, and call it a day.......after a bacon sanwhich. Only 95, let me send you some honey brother. God's peace Lewie. Mr. Ed

Happy Friday Mr. Ed! As always, good informative video. You and Charlie had to put in some work in a height challenging spot. But you did it! @ 6:07 *Thank you Jesus!!* Got that Queen!! Question: You said that rodents were nesting in the hive. Are rodents resistant to bee stings? If not, how are they able to come and go without being attacked by the bees? *Have a good weekend Mr. Ed! And stay safe and protected.*
More than likely the mice were there before the bees showed up. However, mice will move into a bee hive and the bees seem to tolerate there presence. Personally, I have never had mice in my boxes, but up north, it is a very common occurrence. Always a joy hearing from you LD. God's peace sister. Mr. Ed
Wow..what a hive!! I enjoyed watching that. Im glad you you gave that busted queen clip back to dirt rooster. 😆 Good time charlie is a pilot? He came to work dressed like a tractor salesman😆😆 Thanks again for sharing and im looking forward to the next one.

Hello Beate, it's great to hear from you! We did get a lot of honey from these bees, over 3 gallons plus the 50 pounds I gave to the bees. It was a very difficult removal due to the limited space we had to work in, but we managed once again. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Dear "bee-man" ;-) All time when you answer me my heart is touched and I am glad about it and that I found you - if not personally ;-) By the way, tomorrow I will sign an employment contract with our city administration here in Krefeld to work in the archive where I worked about one year as an additional jobber. Next step will be to buy new glasses - in that case with both diopter for near and far - not only for reading ;-) I am looking forward to Friday for your next video. Stay healthy.
Hi Mr. Ed. Another great video. That was a clean looking hive for sure. I was wondering if you ever make jars of honey with the comb? I have purchased it years ago but have not seen it in quite awhile. Underneath that house was very clean also. Whomever built it took their time and attention to finishing it off. Very nice.
The honey that we sell in the Abbey Gift Shop does not have comb in it, our operation is not set up to add comb to the honey. However, it makes a great presentation, and I like the way the comb looks sitting in a jar of honey. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Thank you for letting me know. I am sorry I am behind on my correspondence. I have not been feeling well. Nothing serious, just a bit under the weather. I will write again soon.
Your work is fascinating! This has probably been asked before. Why is it important to find the queen? Won't the bees "elect" a new queen (via royal jelly) if she goes missing?
If the queen goes missing, if the bees have eggs or very young larvae, then they can start another queen, but it uses up time and the new queen must fly and mate, and THEN she must settle in and start laying. All this wastes breeding time.
The bees can only produce a queen if there are eggs less than 3 days old in the hive already. It's always the safest bet to find and cage the queen, that way, you know the likelihood of the hive to survive is greatly enhanced. Happy to hear you enjoy the channel, thank you so much for watching. God's peace Gene. Mr. Ed
Hello Jeff. Question It does not appear that the bees were moving around the comb from 3:38 to 4:45. Were those some of your trained bees? Thanks keep on making and I will keep on watching
When bees get cold, they cluster for warmth. It's probable that the Queen in the middle was their objective--no matter what, she has to survive. That's also why Queen excluders are a bad idea when it gets cold. The bee-ball moves up, and any Queen left behind will not survive.
I'd love to bee able to answer your question, but due to contracts I have to sign with my bees that work with me, I'm unable to give you an answer. Thanks for watching. God's peace Charles. Mr. Ed
Thank you for another great video Mr. Ed! To keep them from running away, wouldn't it also work to put a queen excluder between the bottom board and the box, just until they get settled in? Pros/cons over just caging the queen?
Charlie says he's to old to start learning how to make and post videos, I've already asked him that very question. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

However, soon, I will be featuring some piano compositions from a subscriber who has written melodies specifically for my channel. Stay tuned for that. Thanks for watching. God's peace Eddie. Mr. Ed
😀👍 Great video Mr Ed! Have had this general question, if you don't mind. When you fed the bees pollen substitute in large open trays a few videos back, what did they do with it? Did they snack on the pollen substitute at the spot, or did they transport it properly as "pollen" pellets on their hind legs back to the hives for storing? Trying to feed my hives and not sure about the right way to do it: as honey-pollen patties or as dry powder? Thank you!
The bees bring the pollen substitute back to their hives where it is stored. Possibly, they may sample a bit themselves before returning however. As far as patties or dry, that would bee the bee keepers preference, but for me, the dry mix is by far easier and cheaper. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Thank you, Mr. Ed! Good to know that pollen substitute, at least some of the brands, are formulated to be preserved and long-term stored by the bees just like the pollen.

Hi Mr Ed, are the homes lifted because of style? Or is there a real risk of flooding annually? Man, its real rainy and cold here in UK, 45 degrees and dropping, wet most days, the frost will be here real soon..I'd swop for 50 degrees if thats were it was gonna stay thats for sure 👍 Much respect to you doing it the hard way, thats a whole lot of honey you got there. Ridiculously hard going on back and shoulders...Seems you called it with the Queen, but how interesting how it started on an old hive... Great video! God Bless, Christian
Many homes are elevated for style, but most are to avoid damage from rising water. This home was built on a sever grade which is why at one end it was 8 foot off the ground and at the other end only 3 feet. I'm no fan of the type of weather you have in the UK, but then again I'm no fan of hurricanes either and we do have them.....regularly. There was a lot of honey on this removal and I was able to get over 2 gallons for myself as well as give the bees more than 5 gallons back.Thank you for your blessings and for watching. Bring on the cold weather, I'm ready for it! Thank you for your blessing and for watching Juliana, God's peace to you as well.

Wow what a Hive! 😊🐝
Yes indeed, and what fantastic tasting honey came from it. Thanks for watching. God's peace Mary.

Happy Friday Mr. Ed lol I we were all wishing we could move as fast as that fast forward button made you book it. Lol have a great weekend sir and god bless.
If I had been able to work as fast as the fast bottom makes me I bet I would not have been hurting so bad after this removal. Thank you for your blessing and for watching Tammy. Until the next one, God's peace.

Superb, that comb to me looks amazing quality. That is one super queen, wonderful hive.
Beautiful comb and wonderful bees. These bees are going to make a wonderful addition to the abbey bee's. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Thank you for making these videos. Have a great day!
You are very welcome, and thank you for taking your time to watch them, that is greatly appreciated. Till the next one, God's peace.

Mr. Ed

you've got 'em, use 'em! You don't, you loose 'em! We know how he gets sometimes. You've got Charlie and Ralph when he's able and Rooster has muscle-bound Pete and he probably bought Pete a sammich so he wouldn't feel so bad when he laid the vanishing act to his. Thanks for the honey offer but with me being diabetic and Sweetums being hypoglycemic we've got both ends of the bad spectrum covered BUT it's a noble gesture! THanks for thinking of us! Yall have a JESUS weekend and Hi to the Wrestler! GBWYall!
What a great hive. This one will yield pounds of honey. God bless you Jeff and Charlie too.
Wonderfully tasting honey from these bees, a fruity taste to it. I gave the bees over 60 pounds back and the monks got the rest.....after I took 3 bottles for myself. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace JJ.

I’ve been obsessed with watching your videos after I stumbled across them a couple days ago! College can be stressful, but seeing these bees be rescued makes me happy!
I do appreciate the fact you have been binge watching my bee wrangling adventures, thank you for that! I'm delighted to hear my videos provide a bit of stress relief for you, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you again on more of them. Until the next one, God's peace.

Hey Mr Ed, how are you keeping? Great video, although probably not great for you - regarding the space you had to work in. Glad you found the queen. Hope Charlie is keeping well too. Can't wait for the next video. Best wishes from Co Dublin Ireland ☘️🙂💖

It was a good one! I wondered what happened with Charlie and the camera when Mr Ed saw the Queen!
He was trying to reach for the clip in my pocket and dropped the camera. I could not grab the clip myself because I had comb in one hand and the queen in the other. It was pretty funny. Thanks for watching. God's peace Don.

Great video filmed with a beautiful background. Lovin' the bees, goats, chickens and of course The Wrangler. Be blessed

Good time charlie is a pilot? He came to work dressed like a tractor salesman😆😆
Thanks again for sharing and im looking forward to the next one.
Charlie is a GREAT tractor salesman, he once sold a 50 hp tractor with all the attachments to a guy who lived on a sailboat. I kept the clip for my wall of shame, and that's the same place the Dirt Rooster's picture is hanging. Thanks for watching. God's peace Jeff.

C'mon, Mr. Ed, we know what REALLY happened when that camera took a tumble--that queen turned and put up a fight! Seriously though, those bees made those combs to just perfectly fit in those frames, eh? Couldn't ask for a nicer fit! I see you're getting ready for winter yourself, with the beard growing back. It's pretty chilly here this morning, only 50 degrees (it was 84 yesterday!), cloudy and windy--fall is upon us! God's blessings on you and Mr. Charlie, and say hi to all the brothers from us.
Actually, the queen whipped both me and Charlie, I just could not bring myself to admit she beat both of us. I'm no fan of cold weather, but I'll bee prepared for it with my beard in place. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace.

Wowza! Sure wish I could mush up what's left of all that honey comb you didn't frame up and harvest it. We don't eat a lot of sweets. Just that leftover would be enough honey for a year for us! So entertaining! The cones are beautiful. .Hey Mr. Ed you said; "Honey is dripping all over me" wondering how you get it off of u? How do you keep it out of your vehicle? That is a lot of work and commitment to those honey bees! You are a wonderful person Mr. Ed!!! Your looking very handsome with that beard you have too... I bet there is a special way to get that honey off!!
I found on the internet that > one < thing is the amount of pollen that controls rearing
the other is the season
but how does she know is it the temperature? Or does she feel when the other bees start to ball up and it starts to get cramped.
sorry for asking ....
Of all the ways to get honey off me after doing a removal, licking it is still my favorite way. Thank you for your kind words and for watching. God's peace Mona.

Hi! Wow - incredible. So much honey!!! I wish you and Charlie the best. It's a real adventure every time when you're working (wrangling) the bees.
Hello Beate, it's great to hear from you! We did get a lot of honey from these bees, over 3 gallons plus the 50 pounds I gave to the bees. It was a very difficult removal due to the limited space we had to work in, but we managed once again. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Hi Mr.

Mr. Ed
Your work is fascinating! This has probably been asked before. Why is it important to find the queen? Won't the bees "elect" a new queen (via royal jelly) if she goes missing?
The replacement queen has to be 24hrs and under old. So there’s a huge break in reproduction.
If the queen goes missing, if the bees have eggs or very young larvae, then they can start another queen, but it uses up time and the new queen must fly and mate, and THEN she must settle in and start laying. All this wastes breeding time.
Wouldn't a new queen have difficulty finding some drones this time of year? It is pretty late in the season.
@@quietone610 thanks .
Some bee keepers employ that method, caging the queen for a few days works very well for me. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed

Mr. Horchoff why is it that every time you find the queen you struggle to find the dern clip. Why not have it ready from jump? Another great video!

So when you vacuum, does that hurt the bees, just wondering?! You seem to care for bees
and you guys do everything sooo human only, which is good! I love honey bees, they are
magnificent little creatures!
The bee vac is specially designed NOT to harm bees due to it's low suction quality. It is wonderful to hear of your love for bees, so happy to hear of like minded people. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 9 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. However, soon, I will be featuring some piano compositions from a subscriber who has written melodies specifically for my channel. Stay tuned for that. Thanks for watching. God's peace Eddie.

So the healthy comb you keep and frame. And the brood comb you do what with?? Frame it and then? What happens with those combs, do they processed too?

Hi Mr Ed, are the homes lifted because of style? Or is there a real risk of flooding annually? Man, its real rainy and cold here in UK, 45 degrees and dropping, wet most days, the frost will be here real soon..I'd swop for 50 degrees if thats were it was gonna stay thats for sure 👍
Much respect to you doing it the hard way, thats a whole lot of honey you got there. Ridiculously hard going on back and shoulders...Seems you called it with the Queen, but how interesting how it started on an old hive...
Great video! God Bless,
Christian
Many homes are elevated for style, but most are to avoid damage from rising water. This home was built on a sever grade which is why at one end it was 8 foot off the ground and at the other end only 3 feet. I'm no fan of the type of weather you have in the UK, but then again I'm no fan of hurricanes either and we do have them.....regularly. There was a lot of honey on this removal and I was able to get over 2 gallons for myself as well as give the bees more than 5 gallons back.Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Christian.
