Hello my friend, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to comment. I can not believe the texture and depth on this painting! To me it feels like I'm peering down at tall cliffs looking over a river. The rocks and crevices look real!! I was quite surprised you held back on the gold! 😂 Because of you I am learning to pay more attention to everything to get inspiration! 😊 Thank you for sharing with us again. I hope you have a nice relaxing weekend! Love and hugs! ☺️💖🤗
Hi Lori ❤️🤗 thank you so much for continuing to be so supportive and kind 💕 I’m absolutely loving this little journey I’m on with adding texture to my WC paintings! It’s so hard to hold back on the gold 😂 It’s good for me to be practicing this kind of restraint, I think 🤔 I hope life is treating you well my friend! Big hugs and lots of love being sent your way 💕🤗
I loved watching you paint this, I think it’s one of my favorites that you have made. The textures are great and I’m in love with the color scheme. I cheered each time you added green, it was a wonderful compliment. I am inspired to try one of my own! Thank you, Gabrielle 💕
Hi Donna ❤️🤗 Thank you for bringing a smile to my face with your kind words! Adding the green spoke to my soul as well - it's my favorite color and yet for some reason, it's a color I struggle with using more in my artwork. I'm working on changing that ☺️ Happy creating my friend! 🎨
Love this painting….I just flew over the Grand Canyon several days ago and this painting reminds me of some of the pictures from the window of the plane my husband took that I was excited to try to paint. This technique of creating texture using watercolor ground should prove to be a wonderful option for me to explore! I love the way the layers of color added such depth to the textures, too. I need to try to remember how you take your time because I tend to get a bit impatient. I think my whole life has been an extended course in learning how to be more patient! Anyway - thank you for this gorgeous, textured, colorful and beautiful creation! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your kind words Sue ❤️🤗 Flying over the Grand Canyon would definitely provide lots of inspiration and I'm feeling excited for you to get painting 😆 Learning to be more patient has certainly been a journey for me too! Until a few years ago, I absolutely avoided painting with oil paints because of their slow drying time. I just couldn't bear the thought of going slower. Watercolors and fluid acrylics have taught me the power of patience and also letting go of expectations. Life is a wonderful teacher, isn't it! Thank you for sharing and thank you for being here with me 💕
I've just found you and I'm in ❤. This piece spoke to me. I see it as terrain. A mountain ridge/crest. The shadows make it look like that. Can't wait to see how you finish it! Lol😂. Still watching.
I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD LIKE THIS ONE, AND I WAS RIGHT, I DON'T LIKE IT, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S BEAUTIFUL, THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR TALENT WITH US
Thank you so much Gabrielle, I really really enjoyed watching you create this amazing and stunning piece. It felt as though I could grab hold of those textured pieces in the painting. Fabulous And Fantastic Too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Hi Mags ❤️🤗 Once again, I can't help but smile when I read your kind words! Thank you for being a bright light in this world ✨💕 Lots of love heading your way 🤗
Thank you so much! ❤️ As I read your comment I realized that I misspoke in my video - it's actually quinacridone burnt orange and not the deep gold. I'll double check my video description to make sure I got it right there. But, both these colors are beautiful and some of my favorites to use ☺️
I was fascinated as the figure of a runner winning a race emerged and was wondering if you even saw it. Towards the end of the video you turned the paper a quarter turn and didn't paint the impression of an upraised head so I don't think you did. It's beautiful.
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your perspective ❤️ I actually did see this as well 😉 It reminded me a bit of the painting I made in this video: ua-cam.com/video/xfLsS_6vqHA/v-deo.html. So, I wanted to switch things up a bit and explore the landscape angle. It’s fun what can emerge during the painting process 🥰
Hello Gabrielle, thank you for another inspiring painting. The texture is brilliant..and looks fun to do. I was amazed just how much the perspective changed when you turned the picture around… and then the inky shadows and white / gold highlights transformed it again. A reminder to me to keep my mind flexible with my own work. Really enjoyed this thank you so much! It has taken so long to type this as my keyboard is playing up and keeps putting in lots of random letters! Hope it is fixed by next week! ☹️ ⌨️🔨 B x 💫
Oh my goodness Bernice! Working with a malfunctioning keyboard is frustrating for sure! Thank you for working through that frustrating experience to share your kind words with me ❤️🤗 I'm having so much fun playing with the watercolor ground!! It makes the whole process intriguing from beginning to end for me 💕 Sending you great big hugs and wishes for a quick resolution to your keyboard issues 🤗✨
Such gorgeous color! I think picking a color palette is your superpower! I'm glad that the texture brought you so much joy, it's beautiful. I wonder if you could post a photo here or on instagram of your full studio palette. I'd like to duplicate it as close as I can with what I have, for when I try to paint along with you. Thanks for this and all of your videos. C 🌻
Thank you so much for your generous and kind words 🥰 I would love to do that for you!! Instagram might be the easiest place to do it, but maybe I could create a short video where I go over the colors in my palette. I list the ones I use for each video (in my video description), but I realize that a person would have to go through many of my descriptions to piece it all together. I'm going to give this some thought and see what the best solution would be. Stay tuned! And thanks for painting with me ❤️🤗
@@gabrielleannacormierart Thank you so very much! I really do love and admire your color choices, and it's one of the many things I need to work on. A lot of my paintings end up being the same few colors. 😂
Such beautiful art you do! I've had DSs watercolor ground in my art supplies for quite awhile, but didn't quite understand how to use it. Until I watched you use the dot stencil. That opened my mind and this video expanded my horizons considerably. Thank you so much for sharing your stunning works of art❤
I'm so glad my videos have been helpful to you! ☺️ And thank you so much for your kind words 💕 My watercolor ground was just sitting in my supplies for a while as well as the first time or two I used it (for it originally intended purpose), I wasn't all that impressed. It's so much fun to have a new purpose for this product and I'm happy to share it with you. Happy creating 🎨🤗
Hello Beautiful, I’m so happy it’s Wednesday ❤I really like the texture you added to the painting with the white paint. My mind is flying with ideas Inspiration is always a rush. Thank you. I had a fun thought you should draw creatures that are Colly and Wobblies😝😝I was so touched when you said you could look at the painting all day liking your own work is wonderful 🎉Is there anyway to send you a letter? Do you have a PO Box?Jeremiah31:3
Hello sweet friend ❤️🤗 I'm so glad Wednesday is a happy day for you! It is for me too ☺️ Thank you as always for sharing your kind words with me! 💕 I am having so much fun creating using my watercolors over textures! (As an FYI - I will talk a little bit more about my collywobbles in next weeks video 😉😉) My email address is gabrielleannacormierart@gmail.com - I'd love to hear from you! 🤗💕
Yes, there's always a chance! ☺️ I posted a few when I first started my YT channel, a couple of years ago - maybe it's time to create some new content with acrylics too - Thank you for the inquiry 🤗
Thanks ❤️ I have a few different spray fixatives I like to use. Generally I prefer to use a matte product over my watercolors. Both Krylon and Winsor and Newton make ones that also offer UV protection. ☺️
Hi ☺️ The inspiration for this painting is nature - mostly its colors and also some of the many textures you can find in the outdoors. Thank you for making the time to watch and connect!
Hi Audrey ☺️❤️ If you're referring to the watercolor ground (and I do mean ground not grout 😉), it would probably best be compared to a modeling paste. Watercolor ground is a medium used to make non porous surfaces act more like watercolor paper. It doesn't work exactly like watercolor paper, but I love to use it to create textures in my paintings.
Hi ☺️ No, I generally do not stretch my paper. I prefer to tape it to a rigid surface and since I let it dry fully before removing the tape, it’s usually good to prevent buckling. The paper I used for this painting is Strathmore cold pressed and not 100% cotton as far as I know. I hope this helps!
Is that called ( grout or ground ? ) im asuming its called grout yet you have it writen as ground and since i can not zoom onto the product for s orrect spelling im asking you. Im sure ot gonna buy that kit just for that ine thing. Thanks
The product is indeed called watercolor ground. You don't have to buy the little paint kit, you can get the ground separately: amzn.to/462aQwe. I hope this helps! Thank you for reaching out ☺️❤️
Sure! WC ground is basically a medium (or primer) that you can apply to a variety of different surfaces to make them more suitable for watercolors. For that use in particular, I can't say I have found it to work really well. Watercolor paper is definitely more porous and absorbant. But, when I use it in combination with watercolor paper, to create texture, I have so far found it to be pretty awesome. I love adding it to create the textures I want, but I do make sure not to cover the paper entirely because I want my watercolors to still be able to interact with the paper. I hope this helps! ☺️
