I will be trying out this product this weekend. Instructions seemed vague to me, so I truly appreciate you posting this video!

I am using this product in our mortared, swimmable pond. It looks like it is working after 48 hours, using one full bottle. It has been on recirculate the entire time. We have so many issues with tiny pinhole leaks in this pebble tech mortar, due to a probable pad/liner leak under the mortar. Since mortar is not waterproof our water was leaking through tiny pinhole leaks. We purchased a dye kit to determine where some of the larger leaks were coming from and we sealed those with either AB Epoxy putty, that you can apply underwater, as well as hydraulic cement in the emptied pool, down by the main drain. Our pool/pond is a natural stone, pebble-tek mortared pool which makes it very difficult to find pinhole leaks. It’s almost like finding a needle in a haystack so we finally gave up and decided to try this product. It has been 48 hours and we were shocked at how well the pool was holding water when we added a little more water after treatment. Prior to adding the water, after 48 hr recirculation, it looked like the water loss was about 1/4”, which could’ve been due to the very high temperatures we’re having in Texas right now, over 100°.. So we decided to go ahead and add another entire bottle since our situation is somewhat unique, for good measure. As far as we know, there is no downside to adding more product after 48 hrs. Keeping my fingers crossed. If fix a leak fails, the next step will be to apply a product called dec-o-shield which is a pool deck sealer. Our pool guy suggested we do this if all else fails. And if that doesn’t work, then we will have no choice but to dig up the bottom of the pool and repair the leaking liner.
Perhaps the reason this product did not hold up very long for the gentleman who posted this video, is because his leak was larger than what the product could support? We had already had a leak detection company come out and determine where the main leak had been coming from, which was around the main drain.. So that had to be repaired prior to adding fix a leak. We are very hopeful that fix a leak will work for us. Maybe I should do a video as well, if successful.

OK so I am going to try this with my spa, but the more I read and watch videos, the more confusing the directions are. I take out the filter, pour in the product, and let it recirculate 6-8 hours. Do I run the jets at all or no? Then when the leak is stopped, do I drain the spa then or let it cure for 48 hours, and then drain and refill the spa? Does it cure while empty or full? Do I leave the re-circulation pumps on while curing? While drained I guess I should wipe out the spa?

@@emilyzummer3799 I know this is 2 years old. I am writing this for later comers like me. I noticed in the directions www.askalanaquestion.com/pool_leak_problem.htm in the section labeled "General Directions for using Fix-A-Leak Sealant" it says "Draining of the pool or spa is not necessary." I am interpreting that as it will cure when it is full. If you skip to the section "Spa or Hot Tub Leaks" like I did the first time it is confusing because it is not repeated down there. The other questions are still a little unclear to me. I am not going to run the jets in any of the processes, just circulate the water. I would think the jets' running could be disruptive in allowing the composition to settle correctly in the leak. Again, that last part is my intuition, not verified by testing. All that to say with only 2 to 3-month results it sounds like the permanent solution is to do it the old fashion way and hunt down the leak and tighten or replace problem parts.

Removed your water filter, heat up your 8 oz fix a leak in hot water in 10 mins at least, switch on your jet pump, while jet pump running put fix a leak slowly to inlet. keep jet pump running 4-6 hours mark water line if leak stop then wait 48 hours check water line again. if no change you fix it. Then just put back your water filter running jet pump 3 hours let all remain glue stick on your filter. Remove your filter rinse off all remain fix a leak glue with warn water . put your filter back. Refill water to your normal water line. DONE. If your water leak more than inch per day you may have a large crack pipe. Then fix a leak may not work.

Why would you turn down heat so low. Instructions clearly state product works best with water temperature of 70 f or above.

Hey! Thanks for this video! I have a hot tub that I’m planning to use Fix A Leak in. You mentioned that you were going to post a step by step video but I don’t see it in your list of uploaded videos. Do you have that video or could you give me the steps here in the comments? What I’m confused by is why you drained the tub and filled it. Was that simply so the remaining Fix A Leak wouldn’t gum up the filter while it cured?

hi there. does it need to keep recirculating the water for 24-48hrs from the time we put that in, then once it stops the leak turn off the pump and let sit for 48hrs? Thank you so much I'll highly appreciate your help..

My old hot tub where I used this product continually circulated the water. I know that the newer ones don't do that. So yes I did continuously run the circulation.
