Now that London is born - I have 2.5 year old and 5 month old! 😅 What You ACTUALLY NEED in Your Diaper Bag | Doctor Mom of 2 ua-cam.com/video/qY9eNSUwA_U/v-deo.html
I'm 38 weeks today and I've been putting it off. I hate packing and even on long vacations, I have always packed a day or 2 in advance. I know I shouldn't have that mentality for baby but old habits die hard!
I also hate packing! Unpacking is probably worse. The unfortunate thing is that I can’t really plan when baby is coming or else I probably would procrastinate too 😅
Having my first baby and found out I’m 5 weeks pregnant😭 I know it’s a little early to be watching a what to pack for the hospital but I wanna be ready for everything
I'm 35 weeks, u really dont need all the extra hygiene stuff Toothpaste/toothbrush Brush Deodorant Your soaps and face wash, lotion Hair ties Robe, slippers, any electronic stuff, a nightgown If you feel more comfortable sleeping in ur own clothes and an outfit for you and baby to go home in That's really all you need and of course post partum stuff at home hospital supplies everything else post partum u need
I'm currently 38 weeks with my second and honestly, the only things you really, truly NEED is some comfy jammies, hygiene bag, phone charger, and a going home outfit for you and baby. The hospital provides legit EVERYTHING for day to day care while you are there. But, I personally like to have makeup and a comfy but cute outfit as well as one or two cute outfits for baby because pictures will be taken and I don't want to look like a hot mess in the first pictures I'll have with my baby.
I always use olive oil on baby to help wipe away those first poops. It also works for cracked nipples when nursing! It has been a staple since baby #3, when my midwife told me about it! I have recommended it since!
For moms that want to nurse: If the hospital tells you that you need to supplement be sure to ask for a pump and pump every time baby eats. Breastmilk is supply and demand. The more you nurse the more milk you will make. Also keep in mind baby's tummy is very small (size of a single Cherry 1-1.4 teaspoons; at a week babies tummy is the size of a apricot 1-4 oz) at birth and the first few days. You will give colostrum until your milk comes in.
I'll be 30 weeks pregnant on Saturday with my first baby, my baby girl! And I'll probably pack my bag for labour here soon just so I'm prepared in case baby girl wants to come early. I'm so excited for my daughter to be here, congratulations to all the mommas out there!
it just seems full on ridiculous . some of these vids make me feel like they think its some sort of spa vacation lol like yeah im damn sure lashes are the most important thing during labor geeeeez.. let's just stay realistic shall we.. xD
@@mrs.hatfield1451 You are to register with your insurance, not the hospital, the one the hospital gives you is not free. I got mine sent to me after I called and registered, before we went to the hospital.
This was actually really helpful. I'm having my 5th kid and it seems like I have forgotten everything lol it never gets old watching what's in my hospital bag. LoL
35 weeks💗 with my first. The only thing I don't want to forget is my extension cord😹 People have told me that the plugs are in weird places. Thanks for the tips. I literally have everything except makeup.
I still have a bit to go before packing my bag but I LOVE watching these types of videos because I was getting anxious hoping I’d pack everything I’d need but didn’t want to over pack. Thank you! ☺️
You don't really need anything a lot will be given to you but bring a few things for your comfort like a rob big pads or adult dipars take home clothes for you an baby phone an charger. Those are the big things also flip flops for shower
It's a little late for you, but for anyone reading, please pre-wash any clothing you plan to put on your baby! Don't just put in on straight from the packaging.
3rd baby here hahaha it does get boring at the hospital especially if they wont let u leave your room shit bring board games or book too. Believe me it gets boring lol
American hospital provided so much. The Australian one don't provided anything at all. You even need to bring your own tissue. It sucks so much and doesn't matter if your public or private.
I'm Australian and a nurse. I don't know what hospital you're talking about but the ones that I have worked at (both public and private) supply all of what Jenny is getting in America.
Yes a country in the Caribbean name st.vincent and the Grenadines. The hospitals here dont provide anything either u have to walk with everything including Pampers and tissues.
Nice tips. I'm 18w3d today and already watching what to pack. Lol. I've already bought baby's stuff due to the coronavirus pandemic scare and we can't predict what the outcome will be like. I'm also a doctor and I'm super excited 'cos this is my first pregnancy. I'm a new subscriber. Will definitely continue watching your videos since you have the professional experience too.
I’m 35 weeks and 4 days and I have my bag packed for the most part. I packed my own hospital gown from Gownies and brought My Brest Friend pillow (comparable to the boppy pillow but much more sturdier to prop baby on for breastfeeding!) We basically packed the same exact same things. I have a last minute pack list that my husband will throw in his bag right before we leave our house!
I am so over packed compared to you 😂. I'm due July 30th and this will be my second baby. In my head I know I don't need everything I have in my bag, but I just can't seem to downsize enough. I know from experience no matter what my robe and my own pillow are a must bring!
I am 39 weeks pregnant and 3 days. I have my hospital bag but it's 90% packed. I don't want to forget my phone or my phone charger. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
Beautiful pregnant mom. 😍 I'm 31 weeks. We're having a boy. It's my third go round but you never get use to it. I can't wait to see his his face and kiss his little toes. 🤗
39 weeks Bag has been packed since I was 20 weeks along 😶baby three will be here any day now so wanted to be ready also I suggest bringing a reusable bag as well for any items you plan on bringing extra stuff home from your L&D room
I have my daughters packed (the baby I'm expecting ❤) but not mine. I'm procrastinating so hard. 37 weeks tomorrow. As I'm watching this, my daughter started moving up towards my phone as if she agrees lol
Question for you! I just got diagnosed with gestatational diabeties this is my 3rd pregnancy and first time failing the one hour and 3 hour. I know with both of your pregnancies u mentioned u had gd. Is there a way u can make a video on what u can and should not eat with gd ? Im 25 weeks and 3 days pregnant . i see specialist in 2 weeks for i believe is a doc consult to see dietician. :) hope ur pregnancy is going well!
By now you’re basically done but keep away from sugar, and excess carbs, like bread, tortilla, etc. incorporate a walk or some yoga or some type of exercise to help keep your sugars low and prevent you from gaining excessive amounts of weight which is very common in GD pregnancy.
I’ve had 3 children and I’ve never experienced my milk coming in while in the hospital. And if you do need to pump for some reason, they supply a pump as stated in the video. It’s not necessary to bring your own. You’re likely only going to have collustrum anyways. Which won’t be leaking like breast milk does.
I'm actually right where you were when you posted this video (almost 38 weeks), and I too have GD and have been making a list of what I want to eat as soon as this kid is born. Counting the days!!
currently 38 weeks and 5 days, already 2cm dilated, i didn’t know what to pack for me for the hospital and postpartum. my husband and i got everything ready for the baby but not for me. now i know what! thank you for the tips! :)
I actually love the face mask idea. Would have never thought of it. This is my 5th child sonim pretty familiar with what I need but am terrible at comfort and pleasures for myself so really, thank you for the tip. My last delivery I waited too long to pack my bag and when I went to my appointment, wasnt expecting the doctor to send me over right away for my c section so I was relying on my husband. Well, he didnt follow my list so I was in the hospital for 3 days in only a nursing tank top and undies. Super embarrassing when I had visitors and one time my doctor walked in. Hes very handsome and i was puffy all over like a marshmallow because of fluid distribution so he saw me walking around with the baby in nothing but my tank top and undies. Learn from me, be prepared. Husband gets overwhelmed too and loses his head. LOL!!!
I'm pretty much bringing most of what you mentioned. Didnt think about my own pillow so thanks for that. But I will also be including a birthing ball and mask to sleep.
We are having our 6th baby in 3 weeks....I've been to several different hospitals...and a midwifery...and there are sooooo many things here I wouldn't say "you really need" I love the video though...how long is the stay @ this hospital I wondee
Great video! I noticed, the baby clothes and yours weren't washed. I hope you washed before you bringing to hospital though:) 36 weeks preggy and packing my hospital bag! Hoping for a natural delivery 💜
I had my first three in different hospitals also and I don't recall receiving lotion, but they did provide a ton of other easentials. This time, they give you a super fluffy comfy looking robe for postnatal. Now that I am looking forward to.
I got the same robe and jammies and I was really excited about them. They’re so soft and I had used the same type of thing from target when I had my first child. However the top button fell off but the shirt the first time I wore it so I’m disappointed with that. I gotta sew it back on before I pack it and hope they stay on.
There are covers for your boppy pillow at Walmart. Pretty cheap. I bought one that was fuzzy and pink for my daughter. Then you can just take it off and throw it in the wash. Super convenient! Congratulations, and good luck. I hope you have a fast, and safe delivery! ❤
@@drjennale There are some that are cheaper. I bought one for $10. I liked that it was simple, and easy to keep clean. Those babies sure tend to throw up a lot. Lol But congratulations on baby London! Can wait to see pictures! 😊
I Enjoyed this video! I'm currently pregnant with our first child (due in June). I'm currently packing my hospital bag . I will add shower slippers Thank you for sharing !
My hospital actually doesn’t provide anything for baby... so I do have to bring all his clothes. So I think it’s best to say it depends on your hospital. Mine also doesn’t provide the water cup or mesh undies for mom 🤷🏼♀️
Woah..that's different. Is this your 1st? *If so, I think you need:* - 2 or 3x Mesh Undies - Squirt Bottle - Favourite Lotion - Comfortable Robe *Baby Needs:* - 3x Onesies/ Shirts - Baby Blanket - Diapers - Wipes - Baby Oil (of some kind) - Nursette Formula Bottles - Soothie/Pacifier Hospitals should have a NICU that has these sterile little bottles of prepared formula w/ one use rubber nipples. At least 1 post birth blanket too. In case they don't, the supermarket should have the big brands OR buy them online if you can. good luck ❤
Brooke Royster yea the nurse that did our tour told us they give you about 3 but that’s it. And since you usually don’t reuse them much, she said to bring extra
Really all you need is basics such as clothes that are comfy to wear home ,couple outfits for your baby ,robe, slippers, brush, makeup if u want , shampoo n conditner, comfy bras n underwear
This was very useful and it’s amazing the amount your hospital gives you but it’s worth it to note not all hospitals give you all this, I know in England they don’t
LOL I bought the same robe from target for my delivery. I thought it was cute with the little tassels. I'm going on 34 weeks this week. Preg with my daughter 2nd child. But I'm still scared 😊😆
Just an fyi for anyone whose formula feeding check with your hospital 1st to see if they provide formula during your stay the reason why I'm saying is bc not all hospitals will have it where I live my hospital only promotes breast feeding as stated by the nurse during our pregnancy classes she told us they only will provide donor breast milk if your having prob breast feeding @ hospital & breast pumps but dont have & dont support formula feeding so that's just some food for thought if you have a hospital like mine you might want to bring formula with you
Looool the lashes part got me hahahaah gotta stay cute 24/7. I agree with that face mask though better to have something to pamper yourself and relax before the pain hahaha. I'd rather be overly packed than underpacked and regret that I didn't bring something
Every hospital is different and wont provide the same things. My first born, was provided almost everything, I just needed chapstick, clothes and my charger even though I packed everything. 2nd born, I brought my clothes, home clothes for baby, shampoo, chapstick and charger.... but the hospital only provided 3 diapers. I couldnt believe it. Hubby had to go to the store -.-
@@pastelmask I know, I was shocked. I think they had a good rate for letting mom and new baby home after 24 hrs, maybe that's why they had the policy but I had to stay 3 days because I had a fever and the baby had an infection so... i feel like i should have been an exception to that rule.
You look so good! And super curious about how you do your lashes? I will be delivery in Feb and I am trying to figure out a solution for my short lashes!!
They never even mentioned a gown when I had my first- I didn't even think about it, I just gave birth in the dress I showed up in. It did go fast though, so maybe they just weren't expecting I needed it yet 🤷 With my second due next month, I'm bringing a robe, but wonder if it'll get used before hand this time either. They say the second comes faster..
38 weeks Monday! Already 2 cm so I'm hoping my baby comes soon! No contractions yet. 3rd child and it's like I forgot what to bring and this video definitely helped lol only have 2 bags so I think I'm good for now, never did like the boppy pillow but I might give it another try. Thanks again! 😀
I feel like this list is confusing as not all hospitals provide the same thing so there should be a disclosure of your location and hospital that the information relates to!
I'm 37 weeks, today is Friday and I'm being induced on Sunday & I still don't have my bag packed. I have everything & even bought my own hospital gown, I just haven't packed anything at all 😵 I guess I'm still in shock I'll be having a baby in a couple of days.
Yes. I do want ideas for my hospital bag. But mostly clicked because I have the exact same bag as my hospital bag lol. Not that it matter or that anyone cares. Or that its that amazing. But idk. Lol
Now that London is born - I have 2.5 year old and 5 month old! 😅

Great video! I noticed, the baby clothes and yours weren't washed. I hope you washed before you bringing to hospital though:) 36 weeks preggy and packing my hospital bag! Hoping for a natural delivery 💜
I'll also add long charger for phone. Thanks for reminder of shower shoes and headphones
I thought this was a great video!! Super helpful!! Everyone is going crazy about the lashes but I thought it was hilarious lol
Not all Hospitals give lotion. Ive gave birth at 3 different hospitals and ive never got lotion
I had my first three in different hospitals also and I don't recall receiving lotion, but they did provide a ton of other easentials. This time, they give you a super fluffy comfy looking robe for postnatal. Now that I am looking forward to.
But did u ask ?! They don’t just give it out, you gotta ask
Great video im 32 weeks and im not sure when to start packing. Maybe after the babyshower
Good idea!! You might get gifts from the baby shower that you would want to bring
That’s what I’m doing. After I know what I actually need to buy.
I got the same robe and jammies and I was really excited about them. They’re so soft and I had used the same type of thing from target when I had my first child. However the top button fell off but the shirt the first time I wore it so I’m disappointed with that. I gotta sew it back on before I pack it and hope they stay on.
36 weeks. Love this video. Thank you!
There are covers for your boppy pillow at Walmart. Pretty cheap. I bought one that was fuzzy and pink for my daughter. Then you can just take it off and throw it in the wash. Super convenient! Congratulations, and good luck. I hope you have a fast, and safe delivery! ❤
I think last time I checked (which is a long time ago) I think the covers are still $20-30
@@drjennale There are some that are cheaper. I bought one for $10. I liked that it was simple, and easy to keep clean. Those babies sure tend to throw up a lot. Lol But congratulations on baby London! Can wait to see pictures! 😊
I’m 35 weeks and so clueless what to pack lol thank you so much ❤️❤️
I'm 25week pregnant and have my hospital bag half ready , thank for the tips
Sadly the hospitals here dont give you anything. You have to bring everything that you will need down to your own water to drink. Great video yho
Margarbie Adams wow! Where do you live?
Best hospital bag video! Thank you!
Cold water can dry up your milk. My mom told me this. She is pretty old school so idk if its fact, but I trust her.
*If so, I think you need:*
- 2 or 3x Mesh Undies
- Squirt Bottle
- Favourite Lotion
- Comfortable Robe
*Baby Needs:*
- 3x Onesies/ Shirts
- Baby Blanket
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Baby Oil (of some kind)
- Nursette Formula Bottles
- Soothie/Pacifier
Hospitals should have a NICU that has these sterile little bottles of prepared formula w/ one use rubber nipples. At least 1 post birth blanket too. In case they don't, the supermarket should have the big brands OR buy them online if you can. good luck ❤
That's crazy! My hospital provides all of it.
No mesh undies!? That's downright blasphemous.
love livi yea mine apparently used to but don’t anymore lol
Brooke Royster yea the nurse that did our tour told us they give you about 3 but that’s it. And since you usually don’t reuse them much, she said to bring extra
Awwww thank you definitely needed this video!!
I packed a face mask too and my mom laughed at me! I kno I will need that mask after while I’m bored and baby is sleeping lol
Hey just curious if you’ll be washing all the any stuff first .. the clothes
Me and my hubby are currently trying good tips 👍
Really all you need is basics such as clothes that are comfy to wear home ,couple outfits for your baby ,robe, slippers, brush, makeup if u want , shampoo n conditner, comfy bras n underwear
By comfy bras, do you mean sports bras? Or are there special maternity bras?
Thank you so much for this update video AND your original video.
This was very useful and it’s amazing the amount your hospital gives you but it’s worth it to note not all hospitals give you all this, I know in England they don’t
I totally didn’t think of bringing a towel! Thank you!
The hospital I work (I’m a postpartum nurse) at does not have anything except Lansinoh that you can put on your lips. And we don’t provide pacifiers.
LOL I bought the same robe from target for my delivery. I thought it was cute with the little tassels. I'm going on 34 weeks this week. Preg with my daughter 2nd child. But I'm still scared 😊😆
Just an fyi for anyone whose formula feeding check with your hospital 1st to see if they provide formula during your stay the reason why I'm saying is bc not all hospitals will have it where I live my hospital only promotes breast feeding as stated by the nurse during our pregnancy classes she told us they only will provide donor breast milk if your having prob breast feeding @ hospital & breast pumps but dont have & dont support formula feeding so that's just some food for thought if you have a hospital like mine you might want to bring formula with you
Beautiful mom, I am 37 weeks and expecting my lil miss. I got my bag packed but dont have that pillow and I really need it.
Hospitals in your country are very advanced.. In my country we don't get so much.. Except the towels, pillows, robe and food
Hubby had to go to the store -.-
Only 3 diapers?! Talk about stingy! 😭
@@pastelmask I know, I was shocked. I think they had a good rate for letting mom and new baby home after 24 hrs, maybe that's why they had the policy but I had to stay 3 days because I had a fever and the baby had an infection so... i feel like i should have been an exception to that rule.
this was super informative!!! Thank you! Hope all is going well
Thank you Doctor Jenny,
I just did a similar video today on my channel.
Quite an inspiration from your channel
You look so good! And super curious about how you do your lashes? I will be delivery in Feb and I am trying to figure out a solution for my short lashes!!
They never even mentioned a gown when I had my first- I didn't even think about it, I just gave birth in the dress I showed up in. It did go fast though, so maybe they just weren't expecting I needed it yet 🤷
With my second due next month, I'm bringing a robe, but wonder if it'll get used before hand this time either.
But idk. Lol
Smart x100. Love your bag, just what you need
Due in June ♥️
This video was very helpful, I am gonna be endused this weekend and started making my bag now. I also have gestational dietbeties.
I also have gestational diabetes. So hay many weeks were you when induce?
I packed my hospital bag and the one thing i need in it ia just extra chargers for my husband and my phone the long ones
