I've had mine for almost 2 years now, the strapping is quality and thick, not the cheap stuff you get at Michaels and it holds tight all day. Mine still looks new. My only problem is right now I'm a little bigger than I'd like and the size of the buckle digs a bit into the belly when sitting. To be fair though I've had that with a lot of other belts as well. I think it's worth the investment and I've worn it formally with no issues, though I would say it's ingrained in my brain nice leather belt is better for formal, so maybe at some point I'll get one just for those events.

Came across your channel several months ago. Good treadmill entertainment, even when I'm not particularly interested in the specific product! Anyway, based on your review of ratchet belts I decided to give them a try. I bought a Bostanten belt from Amazon for $20. After a lifetime of regular belts, I really am liking the ratchet belt. I've been wearing it now daily for about a month, and can't see going back to an old fashion buckle style belt. Thanks for pointing me in that direction!

  • @SystemZ3RO

I got a version of the Grip6 a few years back. The downside is the belt strap tends to "fold" where it loops through the belt buckle after awhile. And if you have a belly that protrudes out more, the buckle will still dig into your gut when sitting down. Also after awhile, the friction that keeps the belt in place tends to wear off from the folding so there will be times where your belt will randomly 'unbuckle' itself, usually from sitting down.

  • @pitgroove.37_66

I absolutely agree with this list and the order you put these alternative belts in.
The only alternative belt I've ever tried is the grip six, and I have to say that I'm not switching to another belt anytime soon, because it is the absolute best belt I've ever used in my life.
The first time I purchased a grip six belt, I absolutely loved it to the point where I had to buy more of them. It is also very fun to buy a few belts and mix them around since the strap and buckle come apart very easily, allowing you to customize your belts with different color buckles and different color straps. Plus they have a belt for all kinds of occasions, whether it's just recreational activities where you're just out and about, a situation where you need to look fancy, or if you're actually doing hard work.
So I absolutely recommend the grip six belt for everybody. Yes, some grip 6 belts will go for as expensive as $100, but it's beyond worth it in the end. Awesome job, GRIP6!!!

"Belt digs into stomach" I hate it. It's the reason I use those braided stretch belts with a small buckle. It's also the reason that I prefer Wrangler brand shorts and pants. They have 7 belt loops, instead of 4 or 5. The smaller distance between loops keeps the belt from digging into to you as much. There is also the trick that mechanics use to keep their belt buckle from scratching cars. Rotate the belt so the buckle is to the side a couple loops. This also makes it so the buckle isn't right in front where you bend.

I have the narrow 1.1" version of the Grip6, standard version is 1.5". It's become my go-to-belt. Light weight, low profile, and nylon belt slides out quickly out of the belt loops when you're done with it. There are tons of color options for both the buckle and the belt, so you can make it as ugly or as minimalist as you want. And there are always coupon codes floating around the web to save a few bucks.

I have had a Grip6 for a few months now and I absolutely love it! A little tip for tightening, use your right hand to pull up on the buckle and your left to pull the belt strap tight. To loosen it, lift with your left thumb and pull strap with right hand. I carry a LOT of stuff in my pockets and not once yet has my belt unintentionally come loose. It's amazing how stupidly simple the design is, yet it's so effective. Why has nobody thought of it before?
One of the best parts of the Grip6 in my opinion is it's made in the USA by a great company.

I use the Grip6 as my normal belts. There was a little bit of a learning curve, but only a few days. Now it is as quick or quicker than a rachet belt for me. I used rachet belts before this as my weight fluctuates. Unfortunately my weight goes from heavy to very heavy, so the rachet belts always dug into my stomach when I sat. This is why I like the Grip6. Even though it has the buckle in front, it is so thin that it doesn't dig into my stomach. Very comfortable.

I have an odd recommendation for a belt to test. The Galco Cobra Tactical belt. I originally bought it to use as a slimline duty belt, but after changing careers I still use it to this day as a carpenter. It uses a specific type of buckle that is similar to a seat belt, which is great for quickly unbuckling. It is also much more ridgid than most belts due to being marketed for concealed carry use.

I'm sewing my own versions of these with strapping, snaps, and Velcro. If I use them on the 2 back loops it'll stop gaps and oy place stress on those two loops so if they get weird ill be able to switch to 2 other loops.

Own both Grip 6 and Beltbro Titan. Grip 6 for those times I carry extra belt gear. Beltbro for occassions that a tucked shirt isn't required.
Beltbro isn't for light fabric pants(ie dress/golf styles). Already tore off two loops.

I use to use those elastic straps with clamps like some suspenders but made small for the fitted sheet,I’d use two on each side to my belt lopes. My main thing and you didn’t mention it,but using manny similar methods to howl pants up; If you have Sewn on button and not riveted, the button button with pop off at any moment! Thank you for this review. PS. A cheaper option also,is a baseball players belt. $8-$10 dollars. It’s all wide elastic, with two ends that you wear like a normal belt. Adjustable and comes in many colors. Someone you waist size can probably use the kids or juniors size. Try it. They’re great.

Hi James! I agree with your comments about belt-loop pressure-they aren't made for lateral stress like these belts can involve. I would probably use the first belt, but using the ring which IMHO, you should have tried yourself.
THANKS AGAIN for another great review. Please give Bailey a scratch for me.

never tried any of these, i have a click belt and love it. so easy to adjust and not have to poke holes to shorten or lengthen it if needed. i also have a stretch belt that just pokes through stretchable webbing with no preset holes either

I've always liked the look of the grip 6 belt. But my personal favorite is my Amish hand made leather belt, it's not for everyone but for me after 10 years of extremely rough service it still works just as good as the day I bought it.

I have a whippie-like belt, I like it because on most belt “buckles” will touch my stomach and cause a skin reaction. My skin is pretty sensitive to most metals. The whippie belt doesn’t touch my stomach, only issues is sometimes the adjustment section will jab me in the back and feel a little weird at times.

I bought the Grip almost 2 years ago and it's the best buy I've ever made, for real, and I don't even remember how I got into the publicity for that belt but it is for sure the one belt I will die wearing. It never gets loose, it actually looks really cool not having holes so it looks symmetric (that is cool for me, hehe). The best deal about it is that you can get different belt and buckle colors so you can interchange them to end up having a belt for every occasion and combination, and it is really light and easy to put on and take off.

Should have tried a Patagonia friction belt too as it would be a great alternative to the Grip6. It width of the belt is smaller along with having a very small belt buckle. It's one of my favorites as the belt buckle is small enough that it never really digs into your stomache.

So, one of the belts that I have found that works well is a product called Jelt. I have 2 of them and it doesn't feel like a standard belt. I'd love to see a review of them if you ever revisit this catagory of as seen on tv.

Then hang my keys from the ring.
    Nice comfortable buckles strap.

I definitely endorse the Grip6, as I received a set of three of them and I love them… Granted, they’re a bit pricey at $100 for three
(Which also included a custom designed belt hanger for six of their belts); however, the belts and buckles can be interchanged for a total of nine unique combinations. Apart from possibly experiencing some catastrophe, the buckle and belt material are basically indestructible. I don’t know if they currently offer any leather or leather-type belt material - when I got mine the only material was the high tension strength webbed style in several colors and patterns.
I will say this for the company though, they stand behind their product… One of the 3 (machined aluminum) buckles experienced a scratch which removed the black anodized finish, and after writing to them and explaining the problem, they sent me a free replacement with no questions asked. (I got to keep the damaged unit, which is still 100% functional, with just some cosmetic damage).
Another aspect with this style of belt (which was not covered in the video) is the fact that men’s belts are a fashion accessory in addition to a functional accessory, and the Grip 6 belt is the only one that has a favorable fashion aspect to it, IMO. And, as they are made in the USA, I will be happy to purchase more in the future as the need arises…🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
    Overall, a good review!

I just got my groove belt a few days ago, it's a stretchy belt with out a buckle in a traditional sense. It just has a plate on each end that hook and lock into each other under the tension of the belt, with neodymium magnets to help guide it together. You just push the ends together and it pops right open

Great thing about that type of material is it won't stretch at all. I stated looking for belts to hang a camera off after my leather ones stretched. All the other ones with the seatbelt type material were all way too tactical for me.

I'd have to look at the mechanism, but it reminds me of a military belt buckle design. It seems more simplified as the military buckle uses metal teeth that bite into the belt. I'll watch the video again, I might have missed something.

When my brothers were small and skinny they somehow managed.to lose their belts within the first week of school.Thereafter they went to school with their pants held up by shoelaces tied around the side loops just like Belt Bro. Grandma had mercy and bought them new belts at Christmas, which they still lost by the first week after school started again. Maybe the skinny kid belt losing demographic has finally found a replacement for shoe laces...

2 things. #1: I have a simple cloth belt from Walmart than actually came with a pair of cargo shorts that have since been thrown out, but the belt is still working just fine. I can't stand the stiff leather belts. #2 A lesson learned from Les Stroud on that camera shot when you got in the car in Boulder City, it's a great shot, but you had to get out again and get the camera, then get back in your car haha

I think that these options would really shine in specialty niches. The last one is interesting and would really help with my Celiac’s Disease. Weight can fluctuate in hours, especially with accidental gluten ingestion. As long as I can get the belt off quickly enough for bathroom emergencies. The first two show great promise, but I wouldn’t want the pull to be so..obvious? Not sure how to explain that. It may pull the pants out of shape. Denim material may hold up better, the other option would be to visit a tailor to either reinforce the loops/make the loops wider and less likely to break. If the belts are really more comfortable and solve your need, the tailor is a excellent choice. I am always surprised by our local tailor. Never as costly as you think and more than will to assist you to achieve a great look.
