Just came across the how to building a vacuum table.I am a carpenter by trade 35 plus year.I will be making this type of vacuum table. And to make sure it has a sound vacuum without any air escaping.I'll use a clear sand and seal paint product to be sure no air can escape thru the wood box atter the box is completed.Even the MDF boards will be coated as well.Should make for a completely air tight box,Thanks for showing how to make one.Think I can find a creep vacuum and air tank at some pawn shops we have around everywhere.
@@wesmadebuilds681 That's how you learn.Iv made my fare share of mistakes as well.As long as you learn from them that's all that matters and it just makes you better.
that is a great project man.. And I have seen some of the other work you have done with fenders and the body you recently did.. Great work.. :) Just a thought:) I work in a machine shop, that has an adjacent carpentry shop. Which has a Gantry style Milling machine and it has a Vacuum table. For holding something as large as a Sheet of Plywood..for example. And Mdf is what is use as the top because it is that Porous, it holds parts right through the board. Something that surprised me, actually. That might be some of the problem. I did notice though you ran a silicone layer around the edge. That would defintely help..: Long winded sorry.. Love the build though and the ease of storage. Look forward to the future projects.. ;)
What say you regarding the vacuum pump versed a push-pull carpet vacuum cleaner?? I have a couple of fridge pumps that would probably work very well if I have a tank/reservoir like yours.
the vacuum tank is the best, doesnt really matter how you get the vacuum as long as you can store it up and deliver it quickly. My parts with a vacuum tank are light years ahead of what I could do with a vacuum cleaner.
The tank is what you are pulling a vacuum on. Its not like a vacuum cleaner where you constantly pull air in. You pull a vacuum on the tank and then quickly release it so the underside of the plastic has all the air sucked into the tank and forces the plastic down over the mold.
Thanks for sharing the table build and post video lessons learned.
You bet!

I'm glad I could be of help to you. You always learn when you do something, so it's nice to show my mistakes first.

When you get the bugs out of this it will give you so much better casting. And I will be looking forward to seeing it work.
thanks, me too
Nicely done. Could you share the Vacuum pump capacity and how is the pump performing so far ? do get get strong vacuum ?
Awsesome orange shirt, excellent machine shop education, challenging tool build, thank you Wesmade, enjoyed 😁👍
thanks
Excellent work..! I have to try to do something like that. Thanks for sharing.
You should!

Yes, I will go into this in a later video but I needed to seal the wood with resin

@Wesmade Builds vacuum cleaners are pretty strong these days but not so much for a vacuum chamber I'm thinking also.
I'm still confused what the purpose of the 11 gallon air tanks for? why is this needed for vaccume forming, your only sucking air, not spraying ?

When do we get to see in action?
In a few weeks
SCX24 bodies, maybe?👍
Maybe, I do have a project idea for the future
