    In the story The Wimpering Thing, the paralyzing feeling they say they feel could be infrasound. Large predators like tigers(other big animals to) have been known to use infrasound to sometimes disorient prey. But human Symptoms resulting from exposure to infrasound often include fatigue, headache, nausea, concentration difficul ties, disorientation, seasickness, digestive disorders, cough, vision problems and dizziness. So this could have been some creature with amped up infrasound 😳

      🇬🇧 Hello mr king
      Just wanted to say, i once got chased by a swan while minding my own business walking along the tow path of a canal
      It was around teatime 4.30pm ish
      & there i was in the very quaint olde Worlde town of Newbury in Berkshire ( pronounced bark-shire ) in southern UK.
      I suddendly heard this mighty fluttering of feathers flapping madly & this awful hissing noise behind me & thought i was being attacked by a demon from the infernal realm !
      As i turned around, i saw this white cloud of feather right up at me, i honestly couldnt tell what it was & only later did i think it must have been a giant angel!!!
      Anyway i felt this incredible pain in my hand & turned & fled along the path with this mad thing behind me when i ran straight into a copper ( policeman) he shouted & waved his arms around as he guided me up the bank onto the road ahead.
      He ferried me to the local hospital, i was still in a daze
      Later i was told my wrist was broken & i had gashes on my chest, neck & face & had my whole forearm & hand in a plaster cast! Very very painful too!
      The lovely policeman stated with me & explained ( after id told him id not pestered the swan or even knew there were swans there)
      He said normally swans were ok & never usually attacked people unless threatened but he had actually seen a female with tiny little ones just that morning & it was very probable she thought me some danger to her little ones
      - Sygnets
      He also said i was lucky as there were instances whereby people had, had their legs broken by attacking swans as their wings in motion are extremely strong &
      Hard plus they often swipe you with their head, beak & very long neck which can also break bones
      If i needed a guard for myself & my property id definately chose Geese & Swans
      My friend who lives in the country has a flock of geese to guard her house & they terrify the life outta me !
      Scary thing to see a dozen fully grown geese tearing towards you
      Even with my friend beside me they were slightly mollified but still attempted to snap at me!
      Ok well ive rambled enough!
      Btw, you can spend a long jail term for killing a swan as they are protected by our Monarch
      Queen Elizabeth ( an age old law from before King Henry 8th & only a Monarch can consume a swan, at the dinner table, )
      Anyone caught killing or eating a swan can be assured its jail for them, even today ! As the law still stands!
      Cheers
      🇬🇧👧

    Fun Fact: the first time a Wendigo was portrayed with antlers was during the movie with the same name. The guy who made the movie however had no idea what a Wendigo was supposed to be or look like, and only read up on the legends once the movie was done. Since then, the portrayal of Wendigos with antlers became really popular.
    So, when someone says they saw a Wendigo with antlers, it's most often either fake, or what they saw, or believe they saw, was not a Wendigo.

    • @Garry1905
      @Garry1905 4 роки тому +4

      So what I saw wasn't a wendigo?

    • @ceral1079
      @ceral1079 4 роки тому +23

      @@Garry1905 Probably not. I'm not doubting that something was there. There are plenty of other creatures and beings from folk tales that actually do have antlers, at least most of the time. But the whole antler thing on wendigos is modern has nothing to do with the wendigo from eastern algonquian indian stories and beliefs.
      If you don't mind me asking, are you the one who wrote the reddit post?

    Regardless of your race or religion.

    There is difference between a wendigo and skinwalker and a dogman and a werewolf and a vampire and a dweller.
    There is many different kind of creatures and entities.
    Respect them as you would a lion or a tiger.

    There's another encounter, from a different story, with a creature that looked into a young boys eyes and said LIKE ME. He said he told his grandmother and she knew exactly what it meant. Apparently she had to get some type of ritual done on him to keep him from "becoming just like it? Or being haunted in his mind by it?" I forget. But Darkness Prevails definitely read it. I'm surprised he's not putting these stories together already.

    What the hell, second story? You go from making eye contact with this thing through your mosquito net or whatever, to getting out and running to the truck? How? What's it do? If it was unzipping your tent, how'd you get out and past it? Did it stop and run away after you made eye contact with it? Seems like a rather important aspect of the anecdote to leave out. So sorry it seems i never get notifications on anything i have all the bells on. My husband and pets yes had to leave because when covid did the major hit. I was diagnosed with shingles. The dr. turned it in and someone from the military came think his name was John, or James army I think they all pretty much look the same. Much respect for them all. He stood outside and made them leave. All but my horse. She was to big. And to much of a hassle I guess. It was suppose to be 14 days right. Well it was 19 days a lot of hoopla and finally they got to come home. What a mess. I had a number to call when I needed anything. Yes someone even came and took care of my horse did all the things I normally did. I never saw them but I would check and shed be full and brushed. So what ever. Such a big ordeal. Sorry this being in the house they came home to be quarantined with me. So bored as hell.

    (Talking about: A sound in the dark part 2)
    That part about the missing poacher can be explained by the fact, predators don’t always leave behind a crime scene and after 10,000 years of vengeful humans you’d expect predatory animals like coyotes, lions, and bears to be clever enough that when killing a human to hide the body where humans won’t look, sure enough there are cases where people saw normal animals cause people to vanish without a trace, so simply put, animals are clever enough to hide the body, if anything coyotes got lucky and killed the poacher and dragged his body off into the woods and ate it in a hidden place and human bones decompose pretty easily so worms picked off whatever the coyotes and scavengers didn’t eat. Simple as that, it can happen and it is a very natural thing. Nonetheless it’s still fun to think that a monster or an angry person took it into their own hands, after all you can only theorize when someone just vanishes off the face of the earth.
    But as I was saying, humans hunt down and kill man eaters, so animals have to be clever when hunting humans, so they try to make no scene.
    Also that thing was likely a ghost deer or ghost elk, a beautiful yet terrifying beast.

      The lions of tsavo hid their victims in a cave, of 20 bodies were found in there and they hunted a camp of bridge builders for over a year. They'd go through birms of thorns and dragged men out easily. For sure predators learned how to avoid man

      @King Ammonite the story was suggesting that it wasn't a "common" Predator due to all of the spent shell casings _and_ the fact that he just mysteriously disappeared without a trace. Bears, wolves, coyotes etc normally leave behind some kind of evidence that would give at least a clue about what happened.

    • @silvertheelf
      @silvertheelf 3 роки тому +1

      @@generaleerelativity9524 not all the time, there are animals clever enough not even a drop of blood or a footprint is left, people underestimate the cleverness of animals that have trained more than needed to cover their tracks.
      A tiger can appear out of nowhere, strike, then vanish without a trace, clever ones at least.

    • @generaleerelativity9524
      @generaleerelativity9524 3 роки тому

      @@silvertheelf yeah I know that certain animals can be clever and stealthy however, we're not talking about an exotic wildcat in the middle of the jungle, we're talking about a deer hunter in a 14 ft tree stand who emptied an entire magazine at something big enough to carry his corpse away without a trace. Bears and coyotes tear their prey to shreds leaving body parts and clothing behind. Normally a high powered rifle is enough to scare them away or seriously maim, if not end them.
      We'll just say for the sake of the argument that an exotic species of big cat happened to escape from wherever and was roaming around and just so happened to survive an entire magazine of gunfire only to drag a 6' 4" - 250 lb poacher off to unfamiliar territory? I don't think so.
      First of all, a feline born and raised in captivity is not gonna put up such a fight when there's plenty of other weaker more docile prey scampering around the timber. Secondly, the term "unfamiliar" territory pertains to precisely just that, an animal with no ties to any family structure or territory it claims as its own.
      I realize that the thought of this frightens you into a state of denial but there are things that go bump in the night which are "absolutely terrifying" and you pretending that they don't exist is even scarier uu&

    For all you out there who feel uncomfortable going solo camping especially when the sun starts going over the horizon, I got 2 tips for you that may just put the fun back in to it for you. 1st and foremost... Always, and I mean always, never go camping without a good firearm! That alone may be all some of you need. 2nd... Take you a pint or a 5th of your best drinking whiskey. Not to get plastered, but just to have a couple shots just after its all dark or right at dusk. You'll be amazed at how it soothes your nerves and makes you feel like not man nor beast will ruin your little adventure. After you get used to it you may find you don't even need number two, but never go without your firearm, keep it loaded and always within reach. Just saying.

    A Sound in the Dark was very good story, maybe it was the forest guardian/spirit. I have heard stories before of a similar creature, this one had a human-like face and 12 antlers. I have never heard of it being aggressive or anything, but it would be a very strange sighting. Also heard some people would get a sense of calm from it. Also wonder if it could be kohoonta, the hunter could have been cursed to that form, although they usually mimic.
    2nd story may want to look into Tebwem, there is also a trickster spirit in Aboriginal lore that can shape shift. Can't remember the name though.
    Lol so wendigos are really just bucks in heat and/or humping a tree. That makes sense why it only looks like two legs, the others are on the tree or stump. New name for wendigos, Stump Humpers!
    Thanks for the narrations and stories, stay safe everyone.
