Shoulda kept the JPJ to the Chargers at 23! Its a Slam dunk to find a monster center like him to pair with Herbert for 10 years! Offense struggled greatly with inside stunts and pressure once Linsley went out.
Going from 12 to 3 is vastly different than going from 11 to 5 in the draft especially when the two first rounders are in the same draft. San Fran paid a heavier cost because they were moving up further and those 1st rounders were spread out over three years.

Absolutely no way Vikings trade that much. I’d let the Broncos or Raiders offer to trade up for McCarthy. When the Chargers see what they can offer, they’ll take the Vikings’ offer of #11 and #23.
I agree that the Vikings shouldn't trade that much... but there's zero chance that the Chargers trade with an in-division team to let them come up for a QB, so the Vikings would be the only callers.
Green Bay gave up a 4th rounder to go up 5 spots in 2020 draft to get Jordan Love, there is no possible scenario where they give up a 3rd rounder and move back 12 spots early in the second round for A GUARD, wich they ussually find in late rounds. Don't get me wrong, I love Barton and I think he is day one starter, but that is waaaay to rich.
I agree especially with JPJ and DeJean still on the board. Can’t believe I keep seeing so many mocks with the Packers taking an offensive lineman in the first when we haven’t drafted one that high since 2011 (Bulaga + Ted Thompson was the GM).

@@mfg1817Sometimes the draft dictates when you choose a person based on how deep and a need by other teams for that position. Most quarterbacks should not be drafted as high as they are but the need to have one drives up their value.
@@henrywallacesghost5883 Ig i’m just looking at the situation too much based on Guteys history. Only drafted an offensive player in the first once to get Jordan and has proven he can evaluate the day 2-3 prospects very well. With that being said I expect defense R1 with the new DC and still many holes to fix with IDL, S, and LB.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe if one of the top linemen were there, like Fautanu, Latham or even Mims, or we could go up to get DeJean but trading up for Graham Barton is a waste of capital

I'm with you on Denver trading down. They don't have a 2nd Round pick. Dallas doesn't have a 4th, though. Green Bay has two 2nd's and two 3rd's. I like them as a move-up team to 12 for an OT.

In this draft, it seems incredibly likely williams, maye, mccarthy, and possibly daniels will be nfl-caliber passers, with nix and penix being complete wildcards. Don’t let history ruin your perception of these prospects.
@minkeymouce it's not history. It's statistics. Learn from history so you don't repeat past mistakes. Learn from statistics what the future holds. As far as this year's class -- Daniels actually has the lowest floor because of his legs (like Vick, Fields, Lamar before him). Williams could just be another one of those "has everything you could ask for but just can't figure it out" guys. Personally , Ithink* he will succeed, but I would give the Bears franchise Joe Biden's chances to screw it up. Count me among those who doubt Maye, Nix, and McCarthy make it. Each of them could if they go to the perfect circumstance. That leaves Penix. I really, really like his film. But he spent 6 years in college for reasons beyond the injuries. He makes quick decisions reading half of the field. Can he train himself to see the entire field without making bad decisions?
@@minkeymouce People say that about every "generational class" of "can't miss" prospects. Just look at a few years ago - Lawrence is good but has some flaws, Wilson and Lance are total busts, and Fields is close to joining them... and these were all rated as good or better than the ones this year.
This year will probably be much the same - ONE you can be fairly sure of, and a crap shoot after that - Williams maybe has a 50-60% chance of being good or better... the rest of them, I wouldn't go more than 25-40%.
The Cowboys haven't plugged any holes in the roster and need all the draft picks they can get. Hate the trade up. Tyler Smith needs to kick out to LT, TJ Bass can play LG and we can draft a center.
Colts fan here. That's the 2nd mock in a row where Josh and Hayden gave Quinyon Mitchell to Indy. I like it. CB depth is a big need for the Colts and Ballard LOVES freaky athletes.
Colts should just make Sneed the highest paid cb already. Ran a 4.38 and is easily the most physical corner in the league. 0 TDs allowed in the regular season all while shadowing number 1s
AD Mitchell is a fine pick for the Lions. Good Job.

The same trade down argument use for other teams could also apply to the Raiders - if they have Fuaga, Latham and Mims all ranked similarly then moving down a few spots with a team that wants Fashanu, an Edge or CB1 would be good value.
I agree with all the comments that 11+23 would be fine to move up to 5, I'd be shocked if it cost more than that. The "QB premium" comes from competition, not just going for a QB (and QB4 at that!), and in this case, the two other main suiters are in same division as the Chargers, so they're not even options. The Vikings can basically sit there and say "We're your only offer, plus we're giving you the chance to stop Denver and Vegas from getting JJ McCarthy".
Plus, the point difference from 12 to 3 is 1000 points, the point difference from 11 to 5 is only 450. A move into the top 3 is a totally different animal - going from 4 to 3, 3 to 2, or 2 to 1 is 400 points... going from 5 to 4 is 100 points - there's a chasm of value after the top 3.

That seems like crazy trade value to me to go from 5th to 11th. But maybe you're right based on looking at some trades of the past

For KC, Jordan Morgan does not have the arm length for a Chiefs tackle...by a long shot. He would not be a pick to fix LT for the Chiefs.
Kingsley Suamataia would have been a better pick for that in that position if you did wanna "reach" on an OT. I also think they might be fine doing the strategy they did last year and fill LT with a vet after the draft and have that vet compete with Wanya Morris.
Great point. Andy is a stickler for arm length for tackles. It seems spags style of DE has changed a bit though. Thank god we don’t have to say “is he not fat and slow? Then he’s not a spags style de” Felix and Thompson were both outliers from his past style

I learned two things from the comments. Steelers fan would hate a WR round 1 and for some reason Vikings fans think Atlanta will lose pick #8 due to tampering.
The Seahawks are looking to set a record for the smallest portion of cap spent on o line. Seahawks fans were hoping it was Pete that didn’t think o line matters. But it’s been Schneider all along. He just doesn’t think o line is important. Geno gonna be running for his life.
I was looking at the rankings for this upcoming season because I'm anxious and can't wait for football to be back but it's wild how much things are going to change after the draft. I'm actually not sure if I'll go after any rookies this year. My only rookie I drafted last season was Bijan and the RB class isn't great this year. The waiver wire is going to be lit as we find out who is making plays and is worth anything.

As a Chiefs fan, I only have one issue with the Jordan Morgan pick, and that is his arm length…… Chiefs fans know that Reid, Veach, and company have a MINIMUM ARM LENGTH REQUIREMENT AT 33in. Morgan does not meet those arm length requirements therefore I personally think the Chiefs would have gone with someone like a Ladd Mcconkey who in my book would be an instant plug and play guy in this Andy Reid offense or I could even see the chiefs trading back

I’m guessing there’s a 3 way trade that moves the Vikings into #4, Cardinals to #5 and Chargers get the first rounders to move back to #11. It doesn’t appear the Pats are moving down.
@@-Thunder I think it’s a smokescreen. Vikings want JJ. They just don’t know where they have to be to take him. I think they move up to 5-6 and get him. The 11 and 23 will get you to 5-6-7 all day no problem with nothing else.

Maye and Howell have stated that it wouldn't be ideal if they were competing for the same job. Also, for those trying to connect the dots with Mariotta, it could just be that they signed a vet who was familiar with Brian Johnson who they hired as their Pass Game Coordinator; not necessarily that it signals their preference for a running QB.
Who cares what Sam Howell wants? He just signed the contract knowing the Seahawks might draft a (better) QB
@@jackiemoon5906 Did you watch the entire vid? This was in response to them postulating that signing Mariotta might signal their preference for Daniels. I'm saying there's other possibilities as well; some part of moving Howell might be their preference for Maye.
Also, Howell didn't sign anything - he's still on his rookie deal and was traded.

@@jackiemoon5906 oh yeah, I totally get that Howell, or any QB for that matter, wouldn't want a situation where the team was actively looking for his replacement. In this particular instance though, they said it because of the personal relationship Maye and Howell have. They're BFFs from their time together at UNC, golf and fish together during summer, etc. So I think it was more they didn't ideally want to compete vs each other for the same job. Understandable, but ultimately business is business in the NFL...

I think there are some dots to connect related to the Vikings movements. Josh McCown is the new Vikings QB coach and was an assistant coach at the high school of....Drake Maye. I'm thinking that's why they've been maneuvering around to get up to #3 or 4 to draft Maye. They must be thinking the Commanders are set on Daniels and the Patriots are either liking McCarthy or a trade out.
As a charger fan this draft if this draft happened like this I'd be surprised. To trade down. Then up again and get nabers 🤯 that would be insane! I wish it happens
Chargers dream scenario if this happens. Nabers probably won't be there if they draft down, but the other LSU WR is really good too.
people keep saying the vikes trade up will cost alot because other teams are competing to trade up too but i never see people making a trade with those other teams

I don't think Mariota is any sort of indication of Daniels over Maye... Maye is more mobile than Mariota at this point, and Daniels is far more mobile than Mariota ever was.

I just feel like the Vikes have some sort of promise from New England or Arizona to move into the top 4. I don't think they make the move they did without some sort of assurance that they could guarantee themselves access to one of the top 4 QB's. Say they had an agreement with the Chargers. There is no way that they can know that Arizona wouldn't move down. We just saw it last year. In theory, the Giants could come up to 4 and Arizona would still be guaranteed one of Harrison/Nabers. I am buying what Daniel Jeremiah is selling here.

Every mock draft show I watch has Cooper DeJean rated as the #1 corner but then he gets drafted behind Mitchell and Arnold. I don't get it.
To give up 88 to move up 3 spots at the back end of the first round is fucking criminal all just to get a guy that will be there at 25 is beyond indefensible
those types of moves have typically cost a 4th and a 6th, so I will use that compensation in the future
From what little I understand in trade math, is that each year ahead a pick is effectively drops it by one round; so apples to apples would be a first, a second, a third and a fourth if they had been all in the current draft year (talking about the Trey Lance trade) so, what would pick 23 be against a second, third and fourth in this years draft? If you figure middle rounders, it comes out almost exactly even... and that's also not taking into account that going 11 to 5 isn't exactly the same as 12 to 3.
tl;dr - 11 and 23 for 5 should be almost dead on, even when accounting for 'QB premium'
49ers have all the weapons we need except on the O-line. That's where they need to focus. Our defense is fine especially with Hufanga coming back (Armstead leaving isn't the best but I don't think it hurts us). Chase Young leaving doesn't hurt either although kudos to him for finally stepping up in the SB (had he trained with Bosa and the other guys instead of leaving for CO during the week I think the 49ers would be trying to keep him). Then our offense is stacked...we just need to protect Purdy better. Chiefs were able to pressure him way too much with simply missed blocks that shouldn't have happened.
On the micd up when they showed kittle talking to chase young I felt all the talk about young not giving 100% every rep was true. Kittle was like look dude we need you every snap
I agree with a lot of these pics. No way Arthur smith passes on a lineman for Brian Thomas jr. He wants to pound the ground game. He had London and Pitts and couldn’t use them.
Arthur Smith is an offensive coordinator. Why do you act like he has say in who they draft. His opinion is probably not even top 5 when discussing draft picks
Could have had Wiggins go to the Eagles. He would have a year to put on some weight with the depth they have at the position.

The Broncos didn't strike out on quarterbacks. They didn't want them. They already have a backup-caliber player in Stidham. We don't need another one.

Why have the cowboys trade up so far when the tackle class is so loaded we can easily stick and pick or at least trade up with the dolphins to make sure we get Mims rather than the eagles taking him lol
Lance went 3rd and was QB 3 not 4 drafted along with the 3 firsts in the lance trade being spread out making them less valuable.
you are forgetting about prospects tiers --- if they view JJ McCarthy as in a tier of his own or in a tier with the top 3 than it is viewed as a big dropoff to select Penix or Nix at 11. If waiting it out to the second round which is more on par with the projections of Penix and Nix than they are risking missing out entirely and will have to roll out Darnold
its not about what we armchair GMs think its about what the real GM and coaching staff thinks
If the New York Giants are in on quarterback and they want to trade with the chargers at 5, that would definitely justify Minnesota selling the farm. If there is any market at all for that fifth pick, Minnesota has to get in front of Denver, Las Vegas and New York
Dejean would be awesome in GB but the just signed Nixon to a 3 year deal who is a similar mold. Packers will be going OL

Atlanta may not even have a pick at #8, due to tampering for Cousins and Mooney. The Bears will only have 3 picks left at #9. Unless Nabers, Alt or Odunze are available at #9, they trade back, largely to get back in the 2nd round. However, there's not a lot of trade partner options available at that point. Da

Jordan Morgan does not fit the chiefs threshold for arm length for a tackle. And it’s a threshold they don’t move from. I like him as a player though.
Chargers will trade back and select combo of Bowers/OL or two OL players. People are OVER valuing WRs in Jim's system! He will get a WR in the 2nd round. I think it should be JPJ and Guyton with 11 and 23 picks. Have to protect Herbert and run the ball, which JPJ and Guyton will do.
The Vikings will have 2 3rd round comp picks next year, so I don’t see them hyper focused about receiving that 2nd from the Chargers.

Y'all really talked up Drake Maye a lot to the point of putting him ahead of Daniels which is just odd to me. Chris Simms has gone as far as saying that Drake Maye was one of the worst prospects of this class, so what is it that you see in Maye that puts him even into competition with the Heisman winning Daniels for the #2 overall pick?

Doubt the Chargers do that. They need all the picks they can get and can get a WR later. Deep class. Im thinking Chargers want 37 for a DT like Jenkins, use 11 on Bowers or Odunze or CB. ....or a OT.
Steelers dont waste first round picks on WRs.... love the pick of Brian Thomas Jr. for fantasy but Arthur Smith is notorious for only featuring a single WR in his offense so they wont waste a pick on a WR at 20 and will go OL or CB.... especially in the scenario laid out where both Jackson Powers-Johnson and Cooper Dejean are on the board.
