Once had 2 of these fantastic beasts. Woke up one night to an awful commotion downstairs, these guys were barking and snarling at the top of their lungs. Went downstairs expecting to find a burglar but when I turned on the lights there they were, one on each end of the sofa just barking and snarling at each other in the dark. Best breed Everrrrrrr!
They really are. This is my first jack I've ever owned but I don't think I've ever adored a dog as much as this one. It's like I have another kid..she's very attached to me though it's not fun for my wife when I leave and don't take her with me. They are so high maintenance but it's worth it.
What an adorable little guy! I love Jack’s! I have a female Jack, she gets separation anxiety too. But I have found that if I do and say the same routine every time as I’m leaving, it helps her substantially. Especially if my husband is still in bed and home. My little Jack likes for me to bundle her up on the middle of the sofa in her fuzzy blanket, while telling her; “Mama’s going bye-bye. But I’ll be back.” She gives me this wide-eyed look like she doubts me.....but my husband tells me that she is usually still curled up in her blanket when he wakes up. There’s been a few times where she has been especially nervous, which is usually when no one is going to be home, and I can’t get her to settle down in her blanket when I’m leaving. Jack’s are very sociable dogs and don’t like being home alone. When I’m home, she is my little shadow, she follows me all over the house. She’s also the first dog I’ve ever allowed to sleep in my bed. It was the only way that I would get sleep.....she couldn’t bear to be away from me.
My Jack Russell boy looks so very much like this one. My boy is so smart. My hubby and I adopted him when he was two. He had been a stray. Such a handsome and intelligent buddy. We feel he rescued us instead of us rescuing him as he has brought us tremendous love and welove him.
This dogs are very smart. He knows that what ever the device his owner left behind, a camera, is a way to connect with someone. My aunt had one of this dogs in a latin country where they run wild on the streets. Her dog would go across town about 20 miles to mate with same size dogs. We saw him a few times across town and we could not believe it!!
It's separation anxiety. I adopted a Parson Russell for myself and he chose my adult son as his favorite person. Whenever my son is gone the dog gets really upset. He doesn't make loud noises but he has to sit next to me,follow me, cry, snivel, and is generally a big pain in the butt until my son comes back. It's amazing how they can love someone so much.
Our Parson Russell cried like crazy when my husband went into the ocean for a swim. As we sat on the beach, he cried as if my husband wasn't coming back. Puna is now 16 years old an suffering arthritis on the back of his lower spine. Really tough times right now. I though I was going to lose him while awaiting the vet. scary thx for your video

Surprisingly laid back, and immensely considerate in his howling for such an energetic little beast. Kudos to you Stanley. An example to us all mate. I wish you rainbows.
I use to have a JRT who would howle if she was left alone. She was my sweetheart and we had 14 yrs of many adventures together. I miss her everyday...I'll never have another one like her..
What a sweetheart my Jack Russell will wander around the house singing like that too thinking that maybe you'll come out from where you're hiding at I just love those crazy maniac so much

My Parson's was alone a lot while I worked 10 hr shifts and neighbors would tell me how he would go out his doggy door and let out these very sad howls. He would always lay on the back of the couch and look out the window. Like clock work he would always be waiting on that couch when I got home....RIP Capt
When the older of my two JRTs died at fifteen (snakebite) the younger one (fourteen at the time) was completely shattered. The first day I left him home alone I came home to him he could barely squeak and there was a nasty note on my front door from a neighbour, apparently he'd been howling all day. For a couple of weeks I wound up taking him into work with me and eventually adopted a little rescue corgi to keep him company.

Did not really care for other dogs that much. She would hang around at the dog park with other dogs, but she liked to meet the owners more.
I, too miss my JRT. Lost her when she defended me against a rabid racoon.🤧🤧😭😭🤧🤧 (Our county took her, on a Sunday, before I could find her rabies certificate and put her down within an hour.) It's been 2 1/2 years, and I'm just beginning my search for a new JRT. Like many others, once you've enjoyed living with one, you're never the same.🥰

I soooooooooooo wish that my border terrier’s howl was that quiet, my dog when he “Howls” can set of car alarms at 2 blocks away. You are so lucky to have such a peaceful dog.
It’s best to start to train the dog to be alone when it’s a little. Start with just a few seconds and when that goes well add on a few seconds more and continue like that. It’s takes time and patience but a dog is used to have their pack and being alone is not normal to them. That’s why they need to learn that. Otherwise there will be separation anxiety and that’s hard for the dog and the owner.
Can't help to feel sorry for him lol. Jake my jack Russell hates to be alone to. He starts howling when we're gone. We live in the country so we leave the door open so he can look out. Tv or radio helps calm him to. Jake is now 14 and still hyper and loves his toys. When the time comes to put him down its going to be very hard on us. He's a family member and won't be able to replace him.
I love this breed. There is one that goes for walks in the neighborhood and I always ask to pet him. He is protective of his owner but when he sees his owner feels safe he asks for pets.
Our meggy moo does the same at home... in the car.... and in the caravan when she's left alone... it is a form of anxiety. We now don't say goodbye or acknowledge her before we leave her and this has helped with the anxiety syndrome. We also ignore her when we come in until we have sat down and are ready for the mad cuddles.... We do still love her to bits though...
When I lost my oldest Jack Russell Rusty in 2014 at fifteen years old my other JRT Cooper was shattered, Cooper was fourteen and had been in the house with another dog for the whole eleven years I'd had him since I rescued him. First with my Red Heeler Ichi and later Rusty whom I inherited when my dad died just a couple of months before I lost Ichi. So the whole time I had him he was never alone. Anyway he was quite shattered when we lost Rusty, so much so that I had notes pinned to my front door complaining about the howling and that was only after a couple of days. I wound up having to take him to work with me and eventually decided on adopting another rescue dog, four year old corgi mix Max. Jack Russells are gregarious dogs who don't like being alone, they tend to do best with a playmate if you can't spend all of your time with them.
Bet your buns, they are. However when you connect, they're really quick to catch on. We've been owned by 4 JR's. We lost Molly, two months ago, aged 18, we've scattered her ashes, under her apple tree, (she used to hang out there when it was hot). We still have Pixie, she's 6, and a rescue dog. If you get a Jack Russell as a puppy, it will bond with you, and they're so high strung and intelligent and eager to absorb new information, that it makes them relatively really easy to train. They are probably one of the top 3 smartest breeds, (or THE smartest breed) there are, but not acknowledged as such b/c the websites that list them use quickness of learning something new their highest qualifying factor, and Jack Russells have a relatively short attention span b/c of their being high strung, so if they decide something else is more interesting than your attempt to teach them something, they'll likely lose focus in what you're teaching them and not pick it up as fast as they could. They're also not acknowledged b/c they are not an officially recognized breed by the AKC so won't be on several website lists. Along with their genius level intelligence, they're also your typical dog in personality, so they love people, and are eager to please and learn, and because of their hyper intelligence, they'll learn a lot of stuff on their own that you'd like them to understand, they just pick it up.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha, train a Jack Russell? Hahahahahahahahahhahah! Always check the mother and litter, to make sure there's no short leg Labradors in there! They can be lovely natured adorable dogs, or family orientated mini judges of a strangers character. But a full JR, is 100% focused at all times on what they want.

What is the difference between the value of human life vs. the life of a dog? If it's the ability to love, dogs are the superior beings.
