Tiger Lily isn’t even a main character. She literally doesn’t do anything aside being rescued and flirting with Peter Pan in front of Wendy. She doesn’t even have any dialogue. Plus not to mention the song What Makes the Red Man Red pissed off a lot of Indigenous people.
I love that Venelope decided to be a president instead of a princess. Disney should make another official group like that for heroines that don't meet the requirements for princess, so that little girls can choose to look up to either Disney Princesses OR Disney Heroines.
I say it’s a great idea, but Dakota wants a franchise for the Demigods... pretty sure that’s just Hercules and Moaui haha. That’s a lame idea and our Heroine franchise would wreck them. -Jenn

Black Cauldron was the second production that nearly killed Disney, not kidding. I don’t count her as an actual princess because she only mentions it once and doesn’t even go back to her kingdom or anything

@@melissawickersham9912 Sleeping Beauty. It was a huge flop when it came out to the point it jeopardized Walt Disney Studios, hence why there was such a gap between Aurora and Ariel. But Sleeping Beauty got another chance when it was released much later.
@@kristinahuchison2511 Interesting. So how come Sleeping Beauty got a second chance but the Black Cauldron didn’t? What were the contrasting circumstances between the two box office bombs that lead to one getting redeemed while the second one still languishes in obscurity?

I remember a time from before Disney Princesses©, so I first came upon the concept of Disney Princesses in Kingdom Hearts, which I always assumed was the ultimate origin of the concept, so thank you for clarifying that.
You didn't include in your list of possible princesses that meet all the criteria: Maid Marian from Robin Hood (anthropomorphic Fox in a world with no humans counts as "human-like" to me), and Sally from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" who really ought to be the 12th princess, so all the little goth and emo girls could have a Disney Princess© of their own.).
Hahaha the goth and emo girls definitely have earned it and so have the furries!!!! We’ve been doing a lot of research this week on it and didn’t realize it was it’s own franchise until we created this video. Also, I’m still working on Kingdom Hearts and it’s amazing! Thanks for watching! -Jenn

Princess Eilonwy deserve to be a official Disney Princess and others forgotten princesses
You forgot Lilo from Lilo&Stitch, she may not be powerful in body but she is in heart and has turned 626 experiments from bad to good along with their creator, she fits perfectly. But other than that it was awesome.

@@Geekritique neither is Mulan, Tinker Bell and a few others, but she does fit into some of the rules you mentioned, she wears a red dress, talks to animals, aliens included, has performed heroic deeds such as turning evil aliens from bad to good, help save not just earth but the universe, has a primary role in a Disney movie and is a female human.

Geekritique check the website Moana is a Disney princess. Anna and Elsa are not Disney Princesses yet, until Frozen run it’s course of selling merch so it’s safe to say that the sisters aren’t getting in with the elite ladies anytime soon, though they are often marketed with the 12 official Disney Princesses and are considered a sister franchise.
Anna is now a queen and also elsa has been a queen of the magical forest😑😑

Eilonwy was the first princess who saved her prince. She deserves more credit.
No she doesn’t. Yes she helped Taran escape, but that doesn’t mean she saved his life from dying. Pocahontas was actually the first heroine in her story as she was willing to die for the man she chose to love

Hey thanks for this video! Cool well-researched topic. It was fun to watch! I have just one comment about the pronunciation of “Eilonwy”…I’m sharing it here because I grew up with the books and it always bugged me that I didn’t know how to pronounce her name. Until I watched the movie and found that it’s very lovely and musical. The stress is actually on “LON” so it’s “Ei-LON-wy”…hope this is useful!

I got 33 shilouettes right out of 38 ( I didn't recognize Kilala, Esmaralda and Anya's, didn't actually SEE Kiara (😂) and foolishly didn't think of Elena even though she is a princess and performs brave actions through the show🤦🏼♀️). Apart from those mistakes dictated from disattention, I feel pretty satisfyed

Princess Calla of Dunwyn also should be given better consideration by Disney despite the fact she was featured in a TV series and not a feature film.
Elena should be in the lineup cause she's Latino we have a African, Asian, Arabian and Native American princess but we don't have a Latino one

@Geekritique u forgot Mira Nova, that evil princess from Dave the Barbarian, Raya from Raya & the Last Dragon, Mia Thermopolis from the Priness Diaries double feature, Star Butterfly from Star vs the Forces of Evil, Joan Carlyle from Ice Princess, Rosalina Maria from Princess Protection Program, & Lucy & Susan Pevensie from the Chronicles of Narnia franchise.
There's already 12 princesses, Moana is featured in the Disney Princess website and she was included in Disney Princess merchandise

While Anna Elsa and Moana are all technically princesses after Ralph Breaks the Internet. I believe Eilonwy Megra Esmerelda Kida and Giselle should be official princesses. Even though Giselle might be hard but I can sorta see Disney finding a way around it.

That’s Kilala Princess. She’s a Disney Princess by technicality, but she’s a manga character. In that series they license out other Disney princesses. Sorry for the confusion, it’s a weird inclusion, but we tried to be thorough.

I really wish that Tinkerbell, Esmeralda and Jane Porter would rejoin the Disney Princess Lineup and become Official Disney Princesses once again. I really want Princess Anastasia and Giselle to become Official Disney Princesses so badly because they are so iconic.
Oh wow, I loved the black cauldron, I have it on vhs! Also growing up I thought The Hunchback was like really popular and famous but I'm 24 and noobe I know has actually seen it or knows it even though personally I have always thought it was incredible.

Same! Even before the sequel Tarzan’s parents have the hair colors swapped and their outfits don’t even look royal either. Plus Clayton confirms the time later by mentioning Queen Victoria. If anything I was on board with the sunken ship in the Little Mermaid considering how close Denmark is to Norway. My canon is they were coming back from Rapunzel’s wedding and it’s confirmed they were going to Attovanhollen, the sea that holds memories (?) and they ran into the water horse spirit that created a hurricane sinking their ship and ultimately killing them.
This helped me a lot, but was also made before Reck It Ralf 2........ So is Venelope a princess or not?

if wreck it ralph 2 is anything to go by (I know, this video was made almost a year before that one came out)... they had the "core 11" princessess AND included Moana (she's now officially the 12th princess, btw)... and Anna, and Elsa in _that_ scene >:D (my favorite disney princess would be Star Butterfly, lol)
I’m still very bitter Kida is almost always overlooked or no one even knows about her movie. You forgot to mention she became the first Disney queen too! Anna and Elsa are beyond criminally overrated all because they appeal to small children. Oddly enough I thought Pocahontas wasn’t immediately a princess because her movie sadly received a decent amount of criticism despite it was anticipated be the next big hit. This criticism about “historical accuracy” is sadly what made Disney very stupidly thought changing her love interest to John Rolfe would fix. I believe she was going to be marketed with him instead of John Smith, but obviously with all the overwhelming hatred it received thankfully Disney made it official Pocahontas 2 isn’t canon, and John Rolfe himself doesn’t even appear in any Disney merch either. TBH I think Snow White is only an official because she was the first princess ever, I think she’s actually the least popular.
Still really hate how Pocahontas is portrayed in the lineup, her skintone being whitewashed and she almost always has a serious look or frown instead of smiling like the others. Not to mention her more recently redone looks are so dumb looking, like giving her feather earrings, really? They don’t even take inspiration from Native American culture at all. Even making her look like the Land O Lakes Native American girl (who very sadly was removed) would look way better. I’m not even kidding they even recycled her hideous ballgown from the sequel and changed some minor details so it wasn’t the exact same dress.

Calla from Gummi Bears: TV show, again. Also unrecognisable. I don't know why people call Eilonwy the forgotten Disney Princess.

There are more princess on the list now a total of 15 now. The only ones that count as a Disney princess are those who made the most money in box office and are human characters, and are those how make a lot of money in Disney stores.
Eilonwy, Jane, Esmeralda, Megara and most importanly Kida should join the line-up...
Wendy and Alice don't really fit the rules, but would also make sense in how they represent some of Disney's legacy...

i believe that maid marian from animated robin hood, sofia from sofia the 1st, princess elena of elena of avalor, moana, kilana princess, jane from tarzan, kyrie from kingdom hearts, nala, kiara, melody, jane from return to neverland, atta & dot from bugs life, eilonwy of the black cauldren, esmeralda from hunchback of notre dame, anastasia, odette from swan princess, daisy, minnie, megera from hercules, neytiri from avatar, aida, princess nisa from star wars, .it understandable that princess rosie, leia, buttercup, & gisela are unlikely to ever be picked due to having a live action apperance before animated & not wanting to pay royalties to someone for their likeness being used. it would be nice if they made a movie for the kiliana princess, elena of avalor, sofia the 1st, princess pyongyang, boudica, anastasia, aida nisa from star wars & kyrie from kingdom hearts would be nice & entertaining. kind of curious to see a movie version of black agnes, banu goshasp, iara, sarraounia, penta, princess pyongyang, or boudica which would most likely be in animated form.

Shanti isn’t a princess, she’s literally just an Indian peasant that Mowgli ran into. Plus she’s technically a sequel character because she’s only called “the girl” in the original as her only role was unintentionally seducing Mowgli that the human life wasn’t that bad. Mowgli isn’t a prince either, just a hero as he managed to scare Shere Khan off with tying a flaming branch to his tail. Literally the only king/royal was King Louie the orangutan and he lost his status when the Hindu temples he and his monkeys resided in were destroyed. Same with Esmerelda, something about in one of the stories (maybe a kid’s Disney I Can Read book?) she’s referred as the princess of the gypsies, which is untrue and never mentioned at all in the original.
