I made something like that some years ago but I put cauliflower florets in the food processor together with a bit of olive oil and a clove of garlic and blended it together and it tasted like cold mashed potato. Lovely.

I find that frozen, thawed cauliflower rice blends so much more smoothly than fresh, so that is what I use and it not only doesn't smell but comes out crazy creamy. Instead of butter, I add a warm raw gravy with mushrooms and onions over it and it is PURE HEAVEN! 😍😇😋

This sounds so good. Do you thaw it out before blending?

I make your raw sushi recipe using peeled almonds and cauliflower (I use the juicer like the original recipe). I just mix in a bit of onion and garlic powder and have no bad smells. It tastes amazing.

Cara. I soaked buckwheat yesterday and put it in dehydrator and I mix some of it with cacao powder cinnamon, and Markus sweet other trays I did garlic and then the other tray I did some herbs and spices. It turned out so great.

Oh YES! You just reminded me of the amazing "breakfast cereal" I used to make decades ago when I had the restaurant in SF. I soaked buckwheat and dehydrated it with all kinds of delicious ingredients, some nuts too, though I can’t remember exactly what else. I do recall it held together really well without a binder. I used to package it up and mail it to my ex, who lived an hour away. I haven’t thought about making that in ages! Thank you for bringing it back to mind as I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get back into the kitchen to try recreating it!

      Faux Butter Recipe
      Ingredients:
      3 tablespoons olive oil
      1 1/2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
      A small pinch of salt
      Instructions:
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, nutritional yeast, and salt until smooth and well combined.
Pour in ice cube mold, halfway to create small, pat sized portions of "butter." Place in freezer for at least 2 hours before using.
These "butter" cubes melt quickly once removed from the freezer, so add them to your dish just before serving.

Cara, The "butter" in the freezer... Great idea. I have your "Love on a Plate" book. I never even thought of the freezer for pats of "butter". Such a simple thing changes so much! I'll spread it on my dehydrator bread! 😋 Thanks!

Not sure what freezing does to cauliflower but it probably doesn't improve it. Our ancestors didn't freeze their food B4 eating it.

Some say that nutritional yeast is a nice word for MSG. I believe them. Also, our ancestors didn't dehydrate their vegies to get rid of the 'smell'... Love your channel. Keep up your important work showing people they don't have to eat dismembered body parts.

It's naturally occurring msg not synthetic. I wouldn't worry about naturally occurring msg as it's in many fruits and vegetables and in meat and cheese. Msg is the reason why fermented foods taste so good. For me personally, the synthetic stuff triggers migraines so I avoid it but I consume a lot of nutritional yeast and fermented foods without issue. Some people consume synthetic msg and they have no negative effects. Just listen to your body, it will tell you if something agrees or doesn't. 💛

No, nutritional yeast does not contain monosodium glutamate (MSG)
Nutritional yeast contains glutamic acid, an amino acid that occurs naturally in many foods, including tomatoes, mushrooms. MSG is a synthetic flavor enhancer made by chemically altering glutamic acid.
