I am from Leicester and have lived here all of my 69 yrs ( apart from 2 years spent in Australia when a young girl). I too love the diversity of Leicester and could not imagine living anywhere else. I also love that this young girl who is being interviewed is vegan. I am vegan and have been for 12 years now and at my happiest, fittest and healthiest. Lovely interview. There are some great historical and beautiful places to visit and explore in Leicester. I would not like to live anywhere else.
You can tell these people weren’t born in a Leicester. They’re living in the high end of Leicester. Try looking at places like Braunstone and New Parks and tell me about your green spaces and nice restaurants lol.
This was super helpful because I'll be starting my master's degree at University of Leicester in September and will definitely be looking for a job and to live in Leicester after I graduate! Thanks so much for this video ^.^
I was bought up in Leicester, We moved about 15 years ago to Devon it’s the best move we could of ever made. The air is cleaner and in general places just look tidier and better kept. Sometimes we go back to visit family and our over all impression is things certainly look worse than when we left. The Narborough road looks terrible, although Leicester has always attracted the Asian community this time we were surprised by how many Eastern European’s were on the streets drinking, my wife didn’t feel safe which was sad. The restaurants are very good in Leicester if you love your curry etc as we do. Although we have left I will always have a soft spot for Leicester, it’s not a place I could live now but I do wish it the best for the future. I would say the best parts in Leicester would be out towards Bradgate Park, Kirby Muxloe and Blaby areas. Good video very informative for anybody looking to move.
I totally agree! I have lived in Leicester all my life. My brother has moved to St Austell in Cornwall and i will retire to there also. Leicester is such a cesspit now, I didn’t think I would ever say this, but I absolutely despise it now! I would rather die now than to spend the rest of my days here!
Leicester is an amazing place because it has everything you will find in a big city but all within a small area, it takes about 30 minutes to walk from one side of Leicester City to the other. This is combined with the atmosphere and slower pace of life of living in a small town. A perfect combination!
I'm "born and bred" in Leicester of the 60s and 70s but I moved away in the 1980s. Leicester has changed so *enormously* since then it breaks my heart. I used to love Leicester and Leicestershire but, honestly, I hardly recognise the place now.
I lived in Leicester for four years, some time ago. I really loved it and sometimes go back for a visit. In those days it was a much cheaper place to live than any place I had lived in before, or since for that matter.
I live in the West End area of Leicester can be nice but there are not so good areas like Narborough Road especially at night around here. Although there's good alternative night life here. But I actually prefer Melton Mowbray which really IS a small town
not all all lol. leicester is one of the most diverse places in the UK. unless you go to Braunstone or New parks you probably will never experience overt racism as a brown person in leicester
You should come to my country, Malaysia, multi-ethnic, multi-religion population living harmony in diversity. [53% Malay, 30%, Chinese, 12% Indian, 5% others]. [61%, 20% Buddhists, 9% Christians, 6% Hindu, 4% others]
How was the public transportation there? I might be doing an exchange for 6 months at the University of Leicester and I want to know what I should expect
Hiiii, I'm kind of planning to go to Leicester for a 6 moths exchange, so would you recommend me to go there? I'm actually kind of worried about the sense of belonging that you talked about I'm from México so, for me, that's kind of important haha
Hi! I don’t feel sense of belonging in Leicester. A lot of people don’t like the city. We’ve seen better cities in the UK with so many interesting people such as Edinburgh, Nottingham, London, Brighton, Bristol etc… But I would advise you to live in Leicester to have a taste of it. You’re only going to be in Leicester for 6 months, it’s not a lot. Maybe you’ll end up liking it. In fact, there are good places in Leicester such as Aylestone Park, the city centre of Leicester, Town Hall and New Walk. If you want to eat out, Leicester offers a lot of cuisine from different countries. Good luck!
Lived there for 55 years, left when the multi cultural dump became too much. Went back a couple of years ago but got the bus out after an hour, ghastly place these days
@@eightiesmusic1984 Multiculturalism is just less whites, now a minority there, what is great about that? Went past my old School Rushey Mead, hundreds of kids pouring out, saw one white kid, thats disgraceful to all but the wokest liberal traitor.
@@eightiesmusic1984I'm only a visitor. Visited England in the summer and went to 5 different cities. Honestly looked like a dump compared to London nd others I visited.
Viví en Leicester un año de universidad, en 1998. La ciudad en general no me gustó mucho, salvo algún parque y New Walk. A partir de cierta hora de la tarde se veía a gente extraña por las calles del centro actuando de forma violenta.
I'm so happy I moved away from Leicester. Lived there only a few months, but for a small city, not enough things going on. I was dying from boredom, plus its not even nice, the mall in the center is absolutely horrendous. stop building things like that in a city center.
@@SoloAnn oh yeah, definitely ;) Before moving to leicester, I lived in Paris, London, Warsaw, Berlin. Now I live in a small city near the sea in Brittany (France). It's lovely, its smaller than any other city I've lived in, but life is great, and people are doing things collectively. It's perfect for what I wanted from life at this stage of mine.
