Before the video comment. I'll always support Tyranids! And Mawlocs and Trygons are gorgeous models. But I must express my small saltiness at Trygons replacing my Carnifexes as the main heavy crusher unit.
I got goosebumps at “... as numerous as drops of rain“ and they didn't go away until the very end. Seriously, Sir, your delivery on this narrative is deeply touching.
Ah, lovely hungry bois aren't they? Best nommers in the fleet. I mean, they're basically just one long angry stomach with hurty bits. Gotta love 'nids. It's a good bit of fun to include a squad of Trygons to surprise my buddy's Necrons. Loved the story of the flabbergasted Tau man just trying to hang in there as Octarius Sector Part Two: Electric Boogaloo takes place in front of him.
I really like the Mawlocs. They’re ambush predators, but becomes more aggressive when directed by the Hive Mind. That means they can survive long after a hive fleet has been driven off... waiting.
I can't compliment your writing enough man you have such a good imagination and your stories are always so rich deep with knowledge, you have such an infectious passion for this lore it really is a joy to watch your content. Good work man.
God you have such a good voice for this. I genuinely think you should be a voice actor. I mean, I think your voice didn't really fit the tau because of how many of them have an accent, but the way the tau soldier sounded so full of dread and despair while still staying professional in the face of danger was AMAZING
I still love the storys and how you tell them. My little brother is now a warhammer fan because how you tell the storys and by the Emperor i love them too
Again great video and great atory at the start. Really interesting lore. As a tau player i must admit i do enjoy your stories. I do like the tau and what the are lorewise even if the rest of the fandom insists on putting it down. Would i prefer they didnt need to rely on plot armor to exist? Yes. Do i think its bad they are naive? No. Do i think they are bad as they are? Again no. It provides intrigue on how their race has their eyes opened slowly and how it will develop them. Im just hoping they don't just become another Imperium as some of the stories from Psychic Awakening suggested (assuming they last that long) since that would just be dull. Maybe they will go down the route of the Farsight Enclaves who are fully aware of the dangers (even if they dont know each individual one) and try to prepare for it despite being hopeless at its size. Point is i like the tau because I like that it adds some pure traditional sci fi (in terms of aesthetics mainly). And frankly the tau are small. They aren't going to have lasting effects on the galaxy and realitically they don't at the moment. They exist fornthe small scale encounter rather than the macro view of whats happening in the galaxy. Anyway tangent over. Really enjoyed the video.
I just came from your video on the Death Company, and while I enjoyed it, going from that to this really highlighted how much you've improved. I really, really felt for the Tau here, the horrified disbelief, the sheer askance upon reason and the Tau worldview that the conflict offered. The Tau have always felt like an odd edition to the game that still provide an important and unique perspective, and you really highlighted that here. And that antecode about how the Mawlocs played was probably the first time I actually wished I could play 40k myself, haha! That does sound like a good time. Cheers. c:
T’au: “Good god, it’s the void horror, the shadow in the stars, the great hunger. I fear this may be my last battle.” Ork: MORE FOIGHT? ALROIGHT! WAAAAAAAAAAAGH
Only Baldermort can make me feel and hope for the Tau. The heroism and desperation he puts in their fight, the innocence, courage and military skill put into them.
Thank you Baldermort, excellent as always. To your summary, Stanley and I also find the models of our Tyranid army rather handy to scare away the sizable spiders which attempt to nest in our loft, that being our battle ground; our games room.
Fantastic work, as always, and I loved that you took the time to highlight the inspiration taken from Dune. I often find myself saying almost the same things, drawing the same comparisons, when speaking to younger or less well read members of the Fandom. I'm always tickled to see someone recognize it. I didn't doubt that you would know, though. You are clearly very thorough when presenting lore to a listener.
Just wanted to say that you are the one who made me want to start reading the dune series. I’m only about 3/4 through the first book but it’s really good rn.
Yeah more nid content! The Trygon model was the first big bug I ever got and the first big model I ever worked on. I still think it's the best looking big bug model in the line. At this point I have one of each of the variants though only one's painted. Sadly they're not as competitive on the board as they should be but they're still my first love in terms of models.
I hear that. I have a Trygon I use as a prime. Well, when I get to play them. Not often and not recently. But I do want two more. One as a mawloc and a standard Trygon. They are just soooo cool. :)
@@Baldermort I have yet to try them in 9th edition because *gestures to the world* but with the lowering of the cost for Devigants I'm looking forward to bringing back the Devi-bomb from earlier editions given that I have a stupid number of Devourer equipped Gaunts ready and willing to get in some tunnels :-p
Also Hive Fleet Hellhound is adapted to a lava world so modeling Trygon and Mawlocs bursting through lava is especially fun (Not happy with my first attempt but I have 2 more tries...)
You brought up a lot of what I’ve been thinking about lately as far as the similarities between Warhammer40k and Dune. I always love nods to the best sci fo series ever written. ;p
I love the Dune and Tremors references I remember a white dwarf edition from the early 90s where they described the bloke who designed the Lictor as having spent too much time watching the Alien movies

Ah. I did not read them. My friends hyped them so much I refused. But I do know a chap who may be doing them soon. See if he gets started anytime this century. :)
@@Baldermort Fair. But.. if you're ever tempted to have a look, I think your writing style would suit the conversations of the "Interesting Times Gang" from "Excession". While I'm here, don't forget to make time for spine. And fun.
The more sci-fi you read the more you realize they all took things from Dune. The term lazgun can even be found in Dune Messiah the sequel to Dune written in the early seventies predating Warhammer40k by about 10 years.
@@James-sk4db maybe aesthetic wise a little, the suits In Starship Troopers are described as metal gorillas with atomic rocket launchers on their backs and require training but not genetic modification to use. I love your take on the Tao, and of course the 'nids. I never thought of Dune in relation to 40K, but now that you mention it I can see some influence there. Interesting. :)
Controversial opion but I think that the tau are one of the saddest things in 40k they are mind controlled by their own leaders , and all those they would have readily excepted with open arms are trying to kill them. And the saddest thing is they are slowly turning into the very things they fight.
The tau are a dramatic story of good intentions going bad in a universe that doesn't allow for good intentions. Which is why i like them. They are an alrternate view point. I just hope that (if they last that long and thats a bif if) they dont become a carbon copy of the imperium. Though i guess thats what the enclaves are there to avoid.
@@carlzerris6566 i like them too, my OC represent that, he KNOWS of that, but he is alone, what can he do about it? He can only serve his people as best as he can and hope that things will have a better turn... tho he knows they wont, hope is the only thing that keeps him afloat
I don't get why humies get mad when nids appear. They have de bigges teef and are always fun to fight. Anyways good vox recording Humie keep em coming and wes not going to go full WAAAAAAAAAAAAGH on you.
I like that you brought up Dune. I saw the 1980's film as a kid and recently read the book. And was struck with how many similarities I saw with 40k, especially "las-weapons." when I saw that "las-weapons" were a term in the novel I was floored but shouldn't have been. Also saw what you mean with the environment of worlds and belief being used to control the masses and create specialized populations.

What, did the God Emperor, violent religious fanatics, technological stagnation, and the galaxy spanning Imperium not tip you off?
@@Woodsy2575 I was talking sci-fi in general, but yes 40k took a lot more then other's from Dune.
Surely it ripped off starship troopers more.
Mobil infantry basically being space marines.
@@James-sk4db maybe aesthetic wise a little, the suits In Starship Troopers are described as metal gorillas with atomic rocket launchers on their backs and require training but not genetic modification to use. And definitely not philosophy-wise, they're still freedom of religion and speech and humans get along with aliens besides the bugs. I'm referring to the book which is superior to the movie in every way.
Lasgun and plasteel are both used liberally in the original Dune novel.
You once again 'knock it outta the pahhrk.'
Exceptional work man!

As epic as ever Mr B , loved it. You have any more collaborations planned for anytime soon ?
Yep. A bunch. All good things. :)
@@Baldermort I await with baited breath, and a slight post Covid cough 😷😂🤣
Each time i see that Lord Baldemort has a new vid,i simply click and enjoy a true NARRATOR OF THE 40K UNIVERSE.The Emperor has truly blessed you Lord Baldemort, let his glory shine upon you and youre family.
There have been fortresses that the malocks and trigons weren't able to borrow through, so they just punched through with large siege beasts.
everybody gangsta till the ground start shaking.
You know i was just thinking aboutthe differences between trygons and mawlocs, and then you upload :)
Kick ass as always
Good shit again baldy
I love your take on the Tao, and of course the 'nids. I never thought of Dune in relation to 40K, but now that you mention it I can see some influence there. Interesting. :)
Tau, even! I thought something was up with the spelling.
