“ Pathfinders” laying on my back, taught me to sing from diaphragm instead of straining...💕🙏 it made a huge difference, and I even hit lower notes now. Thank you for a heart of worship!
I loved the part where she talked about changing the key. I'm a baritone, so I often need to change the key of the songs because many of them are too high for me and even though others are not, I prefer to be comfortable, so I still change the key. I used to struggle with not having a tenor voice, but, I don't care any more, I'm beginning to accept and like the voice God gave me and focusing on getting better every day. Great advice for all of us who maybe sometimes felt like are voice wasn't enough. :)
Thanks for the words of wisdom. I use a capo on my guitar and play the song to see what fret to have it on. When I sound good I keep it on that fret. So it works!!!! Thanks!!!!
Started your course in Jan 2022. So much great info and your teaching technique is fab! I do hear a difference in my voice already. I’m excited to keep moving forward with your training. Let’s also note that the cost of your course is very affordable and nothing compared to the benefits received. I’ll be submitting my checkup soon before moving on to the next course. Praise God for you teaching us your years of perfecting your gift! You are so appreciated.
I cannot choose the key, but my leader always chooses a good key, praise God. I always used to sing the song over and over again, too. But now I know a lot of good warm ups to do instead. I love the strategies to sound better, like wah, wah ,wah. And adding key consonant sounds to get a centered mixed voice and bringing my voice forward with a small mouth and open cavity. Thank you, Charmaine for your great lessons. I have improved my weak breathy voice into a power house voice I never knew I had. Grateful, and praising God.
This is so helpful. I just started singing with my worship team at church at the start of the year. There are songs that sometimes seem to low for my voice. Definitely will be using your tips next time I sing. ♥️
Thank you for making these videos. They have amazingly helpful and are transforming the way I think about song choice. Loving the 'pathfinder' exercise, thus was totally new to me.
The Pathfinder activities are a game changer! I’ve been using your channel for a short while now and already hear improvement. I’m so grateful for your teachings!
It's been a while since I saw one of her videos, she's always looked pretty, but wow she looks so healthy now! I'm so happy for her! And of course she's an amazing singing coach!
Thank you thank you, I like the pathfinder exercises, makes so much sense and its like wow, it does trick my voice into hitting the notes. I can see improvements in my voice. thank you so much. God bless you and continue to annoint you!
Thank you so much for your videos! You have helped me so on my vocals and to sing better for worship. You're amazing and have an amazing voice! None related.. you look amazing!! How did you loose so much weight!! Please provide your secret. :)
@CharmaineBrown can you please make video on increasing vocal range for males !. . I've been trying to sing You're Beautiful by Phil Wickham and when that high part came my voice starts to crack and sound really bad ... Please make video on this. Thank you so much !.
This is such helpful content. I’m new on a worship team and was too timid to ask for a key change on Who You Say I Am (so ironic you mentioned it!) and I neglected my warm ups that morning. First service didn’t go well!! Thanks for reminding me to speak up for myself for ultimately the benefit of the congregation’s worship. And that I need to be honing my craft and practicing and warming up, also as a service to the congregation and ultimately the Lord. BTW - you are looking awesome 👏🏼
Love this video! How do you suggest requesting a key change to the worship director and band who seem to not want to (or it’s too difficult for them to?) change the key?
Hmmm, that’s a tricky one! Always in kindness and love - I would have a one on one chat with your leader and explain that you will lead more confidently when the key is better for your voice.
@@worshipvocalist hey. Thanks. I did check out the website. But I'm from India and i have to figure out how I'll make the payement cause i dont have paypal. Anyway. Thanks for letting me know about the course.
Hey! I'm hoping to do a video on that in the future! In the meantime, I recommend trying out the original key and if it's too high or too low, lower or raise the key until you find somewhere that feels right for you. Ideally you want the chorus and bridge to sit in a higher range than the verses.
Hey Bernice! I would encourage you to go through my courses on www.theworshipvocalist.com to develop more vocal skill and help choosing keys-but in the meantime, start with the original key and determine whether you need the song higher or lower for your voice, then I would encourage you to work with a musician (keyboardist or guitarist ideally) to help you find the right key.
I struggle stringing the song together after doing pathfinder exercises. Any tips for that? I get stuck on hitting the path perfectly instead of just getting thru the whole song
The thing I worry about with choosing a key that is comfortable for me, is that the congregation will be able to sing it too. I am an alto, but many females are sopranos.
The congregation will sing along with a worship leader who is singing confidently! It’s impossible to find a key that works for everyone in the congregation-so best to lead in the key that’s best for you, and let them choose whether to sing up/down the octave, sing a harmony, etc.!
It kind of sounds like you are using noise removal for the audio. I would actually prefer hearing the original audio with a little background noise. It just sounds kind of weird. Something's missing. Also, maybe a little bit of music in the background when you aren't singing. Just suggestions, but thank you for these videos!
Hey! I hear you. The reason I teach this is not to encourage pride, entitlement, glory, etc. The glory belongs to Jesus; none of it belongs to us as worship leaders. There is no range of notes that works well for every singer in the congregation, but in my experience, when a leader is singing in a comfortable place in their voice, they are able to lead and minister more confidently, and the congregation feels more at ease.
“ Pathfinders” laying on my back, taught me to sing from diaphragm instead of straining...💕🙏 it made a huge difference, and I even hit lower notes now. Thank you for a heart of worship!
Totally! That’s a technique I teach in my Master Your Voice course!
❤

Same! Baritone worship leader here! :)
100%! I change the keys all the time for my voice too and there’s no shame in it!! Sing where you sing well!
1. Sing in the best key for you.
2. Warm up your voice before singing.
3. Use strategic exercises to practice your songs.
Hopefully these strategies are going well for you!
I thank you so much for all you do and share. You are helping me get my voice back at 54 and not using it in a few yrs. 💕💖💞🙏🏻💜✝️
Wonderful!
The "Pathfinders" exercise is amazing for growing your range! Love it!
It really is!
I definitely will be signing up for courses soon. 💖
Wonderful! It will be great to have you in the Worship Vocalist community!

Hey! I do have videos in my courses on increasing your range - I encourage you to check them out at www.theworshipvocalist.com!

Everything
😊
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve transposed music so I can sing in a more comfortable key. It’s a necessity.
Absolutely! So important!

Funny you mentioned Who You Say I am because I am singing it this Sunday morning!!! lol
Nice! Hope it went well!
Did you ever watch Ken Tamplin teach?
I know of Ken Tamplin but I haven't done any of his vocal training!
How do we figure out our range and best keys?
I teach on this in-depth in my “Master Your Voice” course on www.theworshipvocalist.com so I encourage you to check out my course lessons!
I do the strategy you taught n they work as a charm for me
So glad to hear it!
Hii ! I really want to learn harmonizing to worship songs! Is there any online course you provide for that ?
Hey! I have a harmony course available as part of a subscription to www.theworshipvocalist.com - I encourage you to check it out!
@@worshipvocalist hey. Thanks. I did check out the website. But I'm from India and i have to figure out how I'll make the payement cause i dont have paypal. Anyway. Thanks for letting me know about the course.
When singing in mixed voice where should you feel resonance?
Right in the middle of the face is where we want to feel the buzz!
How do I find out what is my key?
Hey! I'm hoping to do a video on that in the future! In the meantime, I recommend trying out the original key and if it's too high or too low, lower or raise the key until you find somewhere that feels right for you. Ideally you want the chorus and bridge to sit in a higher range than the verses.
How do we choose the appropriate key as someone who does not have the skill yet to determine this?
And, how long should a warm up last?
Hey Bernice! I would encourage you to go through my courses on www.theworshipvocalist.com to develop more vocal skill and help choosing keys-but in the meantime, start with the original key and determine whether you need the song higher or lower for your voice, then I would encourage you to work with a musician (keyboardist or guitarist ideally) to help you find the right key.
And in terms of a warmup, I recommend 15-20 minutes at least.
How do I know my key?
There’s lots that goes into it - I’m hoping to do a training on this in the future!
I struggle stringing the song together after doing pathfinder exercises. Any tips for that? I get stuck on hitting the path perfectly instead of just getting thru the whole song
I hear ya! That comes with time and diligent practice, so just be patient with your voice!
The thing I worry about with choosing a key that is comfortable for me, is that the congregation will be able to sing it too. I am an alto, but many females are sopranos.

@@worshipvocalist Thank you! It's a good way of thinking about it, of course everyone will have different ranges and there's no one size fits all.
It kind of sounds like you are using noise removal for the audio. I would actually prefer hearing the original audio with a little background noise. It just sounds kind of weird. Something's missing. Also, maybe a little bit of music in the background when you aren't singing. Just suggestions, but thank you for these videos!

You do look great! Do you mind sharing the secret? 😉
Thanks so much! I’ve been following a plan called Bright Line Eating!
I like U to help tutorial on there was Jesus song
Perhaps in the future!
Seems wrong that worship has become about " my key" .As a worship leader , to me it's about the CONGREGATION the AVERAGE range.
Hey!
