What a gorgeous (and rare) car! Even the horn lets you know that something special has arrived. Thanks for finding and sharing Mr. Plante and his Wildcat GS with us, Lou!
Wow! "Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick "? Yes, if it's like this one. ! What a beautiful GS ! Everything about this car screams look at me. The paint is still amazing, when you consider they were painted in lacquer back then. ! The white Pearl interior is beautiful also. It's great to see a 425 nail head engine that clean & detailed too. I saw it has the "coveted" finned brake drums that the hot rodder guys love. ! Thanks to you, Lou & Terry, for an amazing feature. !
Hi Alan, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) I agree, the Buicks today to not compare to Buicks of the 1960's. Glad to read you "Love" the engine too, Lou

Loved Terry’s comment that he gets more praise and response from his gorgeous GS Wildcat than some of his other “restored” cars. Good job Lou in pointing out how pristine the original paint condition is. Mind blowing !! The lines on this Buick are so darn sexy!
Very nice Wildcat - I do not think I have ever seen a Wildcat GS. This is a great survivor, just spectacular. Thanks Lou and Terry for bringing this beauty to us.
Hi Jeff, Happy to read "This is a great survivor, just spectacular." :-) You're welcome. Good news! Here is one more for you, Lou ua-cam.com/video/i6GOlll30i0/v-deo.html
Buick Wildcats were Awesome & from my own experience, the best Buicks. I say that because I owned 7 Buicks in my lifetime. I owned 3 Wildcats, a 64 with the 401 Nailhead, a 68 with the 430, & a 70 with the Awesome 455. All were great cars in every way. I also had 2 Rivs a 70 & a 73 boatail. They were also great cars. They were a very close second to the Wildcats & I also had 2 Deuce & 1/4's, a 73 Limited & a 75 225 Custom. Great cars also but not quite as quick!!! I NEVER had any major mechanical problems with any of them. But getting back to that 66 Wildcat GS, that's a real gem!!! With that awesome 425 Nailhead with dual quads, & that pristine interior with that very nice chrome trim, & that chrome on the exterior, & that very cool looking Red paint work make that Wildcat look Awesome. If that was my car, I would NEVER,EVER sell it. Lou,you keep on finding these very cool & classic cars!!! I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ that 66 Wildcat!!!
Lou what’s not to love about that Buick Wildcat. One thing about it is everything you felt saw, seen, heard, touched and viewed was definitely an original survivor. So what it has very few little blemishes those are very hardly noticeable they don’t bother Mr. Plante and don’t bother me neither, again Lou that’s when Buick/GM were in it’s hey when they were putting out building, making, manufacturing beautiful Rides like that back in the day. All Big 3 definitely produced amazing awesome 👏 😎 rides back then and that Buick Wildcat was one of the. My mothers sister had a `66 Wildcat two door that my uncle bought her for her birthday. What a gal she was, bubbly fun blonde lady always smiling and pretty. they had a life of hard work and fun times. They lived in Macomb park back then. Troy later on until they sold and went to a condo. RIP Aunt Helen and Uncle Dave. Her grand daughter was a model for Chrysler for awhile draped across the hood in photo shoots lol. She married very well, lovely girl probably a grandmom herself now.
Simply beautiful! GM built so many great cars in the mid 60’s. That said, this one is special. I don’t ever remember seeing one before. Take good care of her!
Dual 4-BBL carbs, same exact set-up as in the 1965 Riviera Gran Sport? Nice video. Kudos to Mr. Plante........a remarkable, ultra-rare tull size Buick Gran Sport. An American treasure!
Red hot! The big n heavy Muscle in '66! Love the white interior/bucket seats and console. Very, very nice. Reminds me so much of the Pontiac's (Gran Prix) same years. In a time when the Riviera was head/eye turning for Buick too. Nice Wildcat!

Original unrestored cars are so cool...The Buick nailhead V8 was such a unique looking engine. An interesting application for the engine, the Airforce had them mounted on carts and they were used as a starter for SR-71 Blackbird.
¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!
What an awesome car! My dad had this same car back in the day, but not the Gran Sport and it had a black vinyl top. It was a bench car (shifter on the column) and full power windows. Great content. Thanks for unlocking that memory.
Growing up, a friend had a 1967 Buick GS 425 with 2x4 carbs factory. It's was the Buick version of the 1967 SS Chevelle. The car was sitting gutted in Scott County, Mississippi, for years. I'm not sure where it is now. Only one I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing this one. I have never seen a 1966 GS Wildcat either. ❤
Hi Shane, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friends car :-) Good news! Here is another 1966 Wildcat GS for you to enjoy, Lou ua-cam.com/video/i6GOlll30i0/v-deo.html
What is so cool is to see a car in person, watch you drive away with the owner, and then see the awesome video that you did. This car was just outstanding, as was this show. I've been waiting for this video, and you didn't disappoint!! You're the man Lou!
Yeah Lou, seems like '66 was the banner year for performance WITH style across the board! Unbridled automotive avarice for all. Wish we could go back and do it all over again!
Yeah Lonnyjaw, Happy to share this performance with style car with you :-) Good news! We can see all the ones we like right here on this UA-cam Channel! Make sure to watch the commercials in full so I can get paid and keep sharing with you, Lou
Nice looking 1966 Buick Wildcat GS Gran Sport! This is a car that you don't see every day. I think that 66 was the last year that they put the GS package on the Wildcat. It then went to the Skylark. The original paint job has held up great, and the 425 CI engine sounds healthy. The interior looks pristine as well. I noticed that the horn set sound like a Cadillac horn set. I've always noticed that every Buick GS you have featured is equipped with an automatic transmission. I guess that since Buick is primarily a luxury car, a manual transmission isn't appropriate. I don't think I've ever seen a Buick GS, either a Wildcat or Skylark with a stick shift. These are the classics I prefer rather than the new cars of today. Good find Lou!
The GS was available in 67 as well, but not on the Wildcat.Skylark and GS became a separate model due to the new 400 motor. You could get a stick in a Wildcat and The GS400.
my friend had a 66 and a 77 toronodo sold both of them still has a 56 olds i drove all of them my first car was my dads 69 pontiac bonneville i loved that car two door 455 wish i still had it

Hi Lou, that Buick is fantastic, i can not beleve that it is a suviver car, it is in such a great conditiion, that guy is so lucky to have it , a great video.👍👍.
I believe I told you before my irst car was a 1965 Buick Electra 225, that I inheirited. But man alive, it did NOT sound as grand as this Gran Support from 1966! When a Senior in H School for a 1966 Mustang (6 cylinder), my mother cried her eyes out because I sold my Father's old car! This was a great example of a 1966 untouched by time. Great, looking car. they drive so smoothly...the only reason I got rid of my 1965 was that it was too big for a teenager! Wow what a great interior. Looks brand new! My goodness that rev was indeed a treat! Thanks, Lou. 276

I was 7 years old in 1966 when I went with my parents to their friends house and my dads buddy asked me and my dad to come out to the garage to see his brand new Wildcat at 7 years old I didn’t want anything to do with seeing a wildcat , my dad eventually told me it was a car and I went out to see it…even at 7 years old I was something else..I remember he had that car for many years …when I moved away at 17 years old he still had it. I suspect he had it when he passed away in the 1980’s…just one of those times I’ll never forget….

I am a loyal subscriber. I got the notification about another GS and stopped everything to see it! When u saw my color I was amazed! It's a little bigger than my Skylark but what's stuffed under the hood is Buicks answer to GTO's. Too bad people were not interested in a muscle car that also had great styling. On the other hand I'm one of around 500 happy GS owners amongst thousands of other production muscle car owners. Sometimes it's not the dollar value of your car that matters. Having one of those "you can't get one" cars is a lot more satisfying. I'll never sell mine and I'm pretty sure thats what most GS owners would say. Thanks for showing us this beauty
What a great looking car. I worked for a Buick dealer from 1964 to 1966 and we never sold one of these. It was the only year Buick made a WIldcat GS. You could get the 425, even with two 4's in a Wildcat. If this had been a southern car it would have had AC. I am kind of surprised it doesn't have power windows. Buick was building some great cars back then.

I've seen one other Wildcat GS. It was in the 80s and my father and I did the body and paint work on it. White in color with black interior. The exact same car and what a beautiful machine she was. Awesome car and great video Lou. Keep up the great work and thank you

My dad turned down a chance to buy one. I was ready to restore it for him. It even had power windows, A/C and cruise control. That was the ONLY Wildcat GS I have ever seen in person.
Lou, IMO the ‘65 and ‘66 GM products were some of the all-time best looking vehicles. Not only the full-size ones like this fabulous Buick Wildcat, but also the mid-sizers like the Malibu, Tempest/GTO, Skylark, Cutlass. Even the 65-66 Corvair was beautiful. All of these had the “Coke Bottle” shape and it just flowed nicely and they kept it clean. In ‘67 and later, they added more creases and bulges and they just didn’t look quite as good to me. Love your channel!

Hi Tom & JudyAnn, Happy to read you enjoy seeing this car in person :-) Glad you enjoy this video, Lou
Awesome sounding engine! They don't call it a "Wildcat" for nothing. 🙂
Happy to read you enjoy the sounds from this Angry Cat :-)
Yeah Lou, seems like '66 was the banner year for performance WITH style across the board! Unbridled automotive avarice for all. Wish we could go back and do it all over again!
Yeah Lonnyjaw, Happy to share this performance with style car with you :-) Good news! We can see all the ones we like right here on this UA-cam Channel! Make sure to watch the commercials in full so I can get paid and keep sharing with you, Lou
Wow!
:-)
Hi Michael, Happy to read the details you enjoy. You're on the right UA-cam Channel for the classics you enjoy :-) Lou
Lou did a video of the 65 Skylark, 401 nailhead, GS 4 speed a few weeks ago. Check it out on his playlist.
The GS was available in 67 as well, but not on the Wildcat.Skylark and GS became a separate model due to the new 400 motor. You could get a stick in a Wildcat and The GS400.
66 was the ONLY year for a Wildcat GS. Riviera and Skylark was first introduced in 1965 and each went into the 1970s.
Doesn't get much better than a big body GM......thanks for sharing Lou
You're welcome The Bearded Guy Jeff Lawless :-)
Now there's a car. I really miss the personal luxury segment of the market. SUV's and pickups BLECH

The GM full size and luxury cars are well known for maintaining their smooth rides even after 60+ years passed.
You're right, this one cruises right along.
Absolutely STUNNING
High praise :-)
Another sweet Wildcat by Buick. Even better it’s a GS. Only way it could be improved would be with a dual quad setup under the air cleaner.
Happy to read you enjoy this "sweet" car :-)
The same year I was born, love buicks, RIP DAVID BUICK
Happy to read you and this car share the same birth year :-)

Hi Philip, High praise :-) Lou
Thanks!
Hi Frank, SUPER THANK YOU FOR THE SUPER THANKS! I appreciate your support, Lou

Beautiful car. Just thought of this: Buick should have made one with a 6 cylinder and called it a MIldcat!! LOL
Mildcat....NICE!
The Special came with a V6. I have a 67 Special Deluxe bought new by my great grandparents.
You could also in 67 get a W1 package on the base Special. It was a GS trim package and could have any motor from the 225 V6 300 V8 340 V8.
A lovely car. All the better looking through the lens of time. If you were there at the time and of new car buying age as I was, the reason the are so few would be easily remembered.

Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Buick :-) You're welcome.

I love my 65 Biuck Skylark Gran Sport. It's the same color but it is black interior with the vinyl top in black the 401 nail head is what sets it apart from other GM muscle cars.
Great to see a wildcat that's still in its original condition.

Hi Al, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Fathers car you learned to drive in :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
