I used to be a soloist with the St. James Adult Choir and met Mattie when they would come to perform at our church. She was a powerful woman, amazingly talented, but very intimidating. Lol She didn't play around. If you were going to perform around her, you had better bring your A-game!

Jackie's voice is similar to the Dr. Moss' (to me) but the sisters' harmony as a group is UNparallel. God knew what he was doing with this DETROIT-bred Family of Gospel and I miss Denise being a part because her voice stood out on the "Is My Living in Vain?" album... Kinfolk68 has the live recording of "Is My Living in Vain" & they have their moments to shine! UmmMmmMmm: this one gets me ev'ry time!
I heard, "you brought the sunshine" every-single-Sunday as a kid and I knew that the song was different from other gospel songs at the time. It was a fun song so to throw my mom off I had to keep a straight face.
I saw the movie and it keeps tugging at me because of Twinkie's storyline. Marrying ole dude wasn't the right move. Heck her daddy said she wasnt taught because she was out touring all the time. Why? She knew she had to pass the mantel to Twinkie. She laid hands on her and the rest is history. The funny part is Mother went to college for music and choir. Twinkie could've went but God bypassed college and just anointed Twinkie. I'm not even all that deep but we need to not just watch the movie because it's great. You didn't wake up and desire to see the movie, God put the desire in you.
I hate that Twinkie got sick....I have been praying for her because I think she is definitely grieving her mother, which there's no problem (I've lost my dad). But the conversations that Mother had, were probably going through her head In that regard I can relate. People look at death as a part of life. Which it is. However, when you have regrets and you're beating yourself up about it, then it becomes an issue that needs to be addressed by a professional. You can't rebuke grief 😑🙄❤❤. I'm sorry for being long winded yall

I have learn more this year about them then ever. I started listening to a song or two in late 1980's. and had not following there videos until this year. You brought the sunshine, and Is my living in vain?, and Bless and highly favored. Those are my picks. I was listening to Sister Mahalia Jackson and Pastor James Cleveland and Pastor Andrea Crouch, Sister Shirley Caesur, and our Church Choirs.

I think the Clark sisters look like voluptuous angels i agree with you but i'll call it whimsical but I love that they looked like this I thought they were perfect. I think gospel stars now all look so similar nothing unique about them.

Dorinda was heavier in the early-mid 80s because of her pregnancies but she lost those pounds both times and then never found them again.
