  • The swallow is a migratory bird that travels long distances but usually in flocks arrive at temperate places to lay their eggs. This saying tells us that from a particular case, we cannot infer a general rule; that one thing is a loose indication, and another the sustained frequency. You can not deduce a general rule from an isolated fact remember that swallows migrate in flocks of thousands and if you see a single swallow it does not mean that the weather is good. An example: a person having a bad day does not greet us or someone looks at us badly, we cannot conclude that person does not like us. Therefore we cannot deduce a general norm or rule from a single case. Well, an indication is not enough to ensure something, but it must be observed if it occurs with a certain regularity or frequency.
