Hey Kat, I can successfully say you've helped me get over my fear of spiders ! This past week I've been handling the house spiders I have found and am looking at them up closely and seeing how cool they look. I was so uneducated in spiders but you have taught me so much that I'm no longer scared
Wow, she a beauty. My last E. murinus was a boy, so I still need a lady. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who loses my catch cups. haha She was SO stubborn! Yeah, the coco fiber likes to try to shrink back up into a brick...I hate when I get that gap with it. Great stuff, Kat! :)
I'm getting my first Tarantula soon. What substrate do you think is best? My Caribena Versicolor Sling will arrive next week. I'm getting my son a Grammastola Pulchra next month. Thanks in advance for any substrate advice xx
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR USING MY JUMPING SPIDER VIDEO!!!! I am psyched beyond reason!!! i love the new enclosure you made, i know your Tarantula is gonna be so much happier & yes its alot prettier & cleaner. I LOVE your channel!!!!
@@tarantulakat I will send more clips as he grows, ima send one of Stargazer ones it comes out of molt, I hope it's a girl so so bad, I want babies!!! I have videos on my channel of them too!
It's a great hunting clip! I love how he lines up and then jumps so fast there's not even a blur- as if frames are missing from the video, he just teleports! 👍😄 Handsome little dude, too. Fingers crossed for a girlfriend for him! 🤞
@@dorabrooks76 he is SO FAST!!! if you would like updates check out our channel & subscribe. Its not just spider vids, lots of different content. We are really trying to grow our channel! Yes my spider vids won't be uploaded regularly yet, I only have the 2 Jumpers. I do plan on getting more, I plan to get a Tarantula soon. Hope you check it out & hope you genuinely enjoy the content.
I DO love the fact that you openly admit you're still learning. Like about what enclosures hold humidity better etc...I think (for me) its easier to relate to you because you don't pretend to know it all
She is so beautiful. My E. murinus is the exact same way with the stubbornness! I think maybe these Ts are just hard headed as heck. He is one of my favs though. Great video!
My E. murinis also doesn’t burrow and has completely covered the top of her enclosure with webbing. I agree about it being super ugly! At least I can see her whenever I want, lol!
Hi kat, so I've only found your channel about 3 days ago, I have been terrified of spiders since I was a kid and never ever thought I'd be sat watching bids and thinking "omg they are so freaking adorable" ...thanks for helping me nearly conquer my fear...next step is handling one 🤞🏻❤️
My E. murinus LOVES to stiffen up as well. She was my first more advanced T, and while she didn’t throw a threat posture the entire rehousing, she just turned into immovable brick and refused to come out of the catch cup. It took 15 minutes to coax her out, and she ran back into the cup before I could safety get it out 3 times. SO stubborn!
I love watching your videos! This one reminded me that it's time to rehouse my very shy E. Murinus. I think she'll like it when she settles down. Thank you so much for all the info you share.
Try cutting some PVC pipe in half, and putting it up to the side of the tank. Its a really cool way to be able to view your burrowing T's all the time. I got to see a skeleton leg molt because of this. It was really cool, and I didn't have to disturb her at all.
I put mine in a 10 gallon and burried a cork bark tube horizontally with just the tip breaking the soil so it's like a burrow except it will never collapse
I have a 4 and 1/2" female E murinus that won't burrow either! I have her on 6" of substrate and a starter burrow and she just webs everything up. Idk. All my other Ephebopus tarantulas are fossorial. I think she's broken 😂😭
Don't get me started with those gaps between the coco fiber and the enclosure wall. I now use a new substrate mix but it mold's 5x faster I insert a water dish and leave the substrate dry humidity in the 90+% but of course the tarantulas have to empty the water dishes and having my tarantulas next to my desk i can see more mold. -Edit - ceramic water dishes - anti flip i'll see if i can find some thank you!
What do you use instead of coco fiber? I still use coco fiber but mix it with Peat moss and potting soil. Hard to to tell of my curly hair likes it or not he never moves either he sits on top of or in his hide he doesn’t seem to want to burrow
Kat this is my favorite of all your many entertaining T Videos. I'm not sure but you seem to share a bond with her or better said you two have a great chemistry together lol or maybe the fact that we both have E. Marinus that we love big time. But I know you love them all as I love mine great video though awsome job you do.❤
Wow! When you were trying to get her to move to put the water dish in, she was so stubbornly stiff she might as well have been a plastic toy!! You just slid her across the substrate- so funny! 😂 Very pretty fuzzy girl, though. The stubbornness just adds to her charm!
Love the comment Dora you hit the nail on the head when I first saw the video I said the same thing then when I did my E.murinus rehouse guess what I said the same thing lol 😂 🕷🕸
Hey Kat, sorry to go totally off the tarantula subject. But how did you get your hair to grow out like that? My hair will grow to a certain extent and then just stop. When I get it trimmed it just feels like it grows back to the same length and has to be trimmed right back to where it was again. Again sorry to not talk about your tarantula in this comment but I saw your hair and just thought about asking. It's funny though because I have seen a looot of your videos and only now am I thinking to ask about it lol. But she is so beautiful and awesome looking. When I get my own place I want a ggb and a skeleton leg tarantula as two of my first tarantulas lol.
I miss my Skele. I sold all my Ts when my T. Vagans escaped. Well long story short I about stepped on her (T. Vagans) one morning when I woke up early. Anyway, mine was super agro. She would damn near bend over upside down in a throat pose when I would move her water dish or any maintenance. She dug straight down, along the side wall, and straight up the other side. I have a pic of her somewhere with her venom coming out of her fangs while giving me a threat pose. Scary shit! I got a couple more since finding my T vagans. I have the Feather leg baboon, can't spell the sci name, and a Hmac. My 3 favorite species lol.
my curly hair had to be rehoused bcuz of a baby cricket explosion in her enclosure. She was just as stubborn! 😂 she didn't want to leave her old place or the catch cup or touch the new place. spent a whole day on the side like an aboreal lmao
I kept 8 from my hatch about a year and a half ago and they are definitely the dirtiest spiders I have . I think they just stick there butt out the hole and let fly because the lids are always covered in poo. But they are beautiful lol
I agree Sherry I used to wonder how mine got the poop way up there and came to the sad realization its because she knows I'll get it all ready for her next bulls eye lol 😂 🎯
I know she was very stubborn and difficult to re-house but I love those types of spiders as it shows off their personality. Please do a follow up video. I want to know if she web or borrow?
I wonder if you made tiny cake stands with little clay pots, you could burry it into the soil, and the only thing that would show would be the lipped top for a water dish?
I wonder if she will dig. I gave mine a ton of substrate and she doesn't dig and now I regret it because its too easy for her to bolt out of her container. If this works out for you, Ill rehouse mine in a Tcrib too.
With most Ts, you just have to spot clean their poop and its not very often. Some species spray poop all over the sides of their enclosure like Avics :( E. murinus do it too, I know mine does. He has actually sprayed poop on my cats face when he got too close to his enclosure. Let's just say my cat never goes to check him out anymore, LOL. Soooo....I find myself cleaning the sides of my A. avicularia and E. murinus's cage every week or so.
About coco fiber, yours looks very powdery maybe that's why. Mine is more like "stringy"/clumpy so i never seen this happening in my cages even when it dries out it's fine. Its also from the brick.
I was looking on UA-cam the other day and I saw this species of spiders in Australia that are born completely blind with no eyes at all do you have any species like that
This skeleton leg has the same attitude as my sister when she sees something she wants at the mall... They both become so stubborn and will not move at all!
Not a bad looking skeleton knee, there. Although I can probably imagine that after being re-housed (and being on the stubborn side about it, at that), she probably wasn't the happiest spider in the world for a little while, at least.
Kat to spood: *This is how you live???*

That's exactly how the rehousing of my e.murinus went, I don't know why but she's gotten very docile
I keep telling myself I'm too afraid of tarantulas...stop trying to change my mind!! Love this video. She's pretty.

0:24 sound advice, that's a sweet friend indeed.
The skeleton leg was my first tarantula, mine was chill and gentle. When I did get attitude it was only when rehousing.
"you foolish mortal you think you can move me?" spider thoughts.
ooooh i love how she looks in the new enclosure!!! i share the same hatred of that plastic plant! i have it in a gecko tank and it’s hideous.

@Warren Shredder!! Some of my tarantulas digs a hole almost it's leg-span deep, deposit's the water dish and covers the hole.
