    I'm also seeing some sheen on Fire & Ice in your writing sample, in particular on the "&". Otherwise, concerning Red Orange, it's probably not the most exciting orange indeed, but it looks the most legible of the oranges in your sample.

    I looked your video a lot of times, but can hit the thumbs up button only one time. Today I ordered my first RO Inks. I choosed Lemon Gras and Eucalyptus Leaf.

    Don't you see sheen on RO Fire and Ice? I can see red sheen on the text in your video, though you say you don't see any. But I'm watching on my TV, that maybe explains why. 😁 I have this ink and it's one of my favourites. Have you tried Robert Oster Burned Orange? It's a beautiful colour. It would be interesting to see it compared to the Red Orange.

      Very little sheen though in the ink sample where I piled on the ink, compared to many ink swatches online that show mega sheen.
      I haven't tried Burned Orange yet.

      I know right, the Fire and Ice ink is the one with the most sheen and is clearly visible in the writing. I like it, going to order a bottle.

      @@PenultimateDave Exactly. Many other reviewers got significant amount of sheen when compared to Shikiori Yamadori (less sheen) and Iroshizuku Ku-jaku (no sheen).

    I'm from Frankfurt, Germany and I love your Videos so much. I'm a collector of ink and fountain pens since 10 years and I love writing with a fountain pen. My handwriting developed over the years and I draw with it too. The inks are mostly more brilliant as watercolors and I use different inks for Tangeling. I hope I can visit a exhibition in London and see all the adorable fountain pens and inks.... a dream will come true. Greetings and stay healthy, please!

    I dont see any green in fire and ice. Also I have no sheening properties with bondi blue. If you want serious sheen do get the Silver Fire and Ice! Way better than Fire and Ice. That orange zest is glorious! You are right. That tangerine is too watery to be an enjoyable ink for me. That cafe crema is gorgeous! Robert Oster African Gold is a genuine gold that is gorgeous! You should try that one!

    Surprised at the lack of sheening. On that paper, I always get sheening with those. Try his Blue Moon for shimmer and sheen.

    Again, one of these inks, Australian Sky Blue, is on my to get list and this has only confirmed that. (Though I haven't seen any good comparisons as to how alike ASB and Waterman's Inspired Blue are. Inspired Blue seems ever so slightly more green turquoise, while Australian Sky Blue is more cyan turquoise.)

    Which paper do you use and how do you store/display your swatches?
    And you should definitely incorporate three passes into your swatches from now on; it's incredibly beneficial to see how the ink shifts between one, two and three passes. You could split the swatch into thirds!

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 роки тому +2

      For the ink swatch testing I use Tomoe River 52gsm. I don't actually ink swatch cards, but I do digitise them and put them into my ink database so I can very quickly work out which colour to ink up next.

      The Fire & Ice was when it first came out, so early bottles. I suspect that there have been large variations in batches of ink made.

    If you're a fan of fire and ice, you should give Diamine Alexandrite (without shimmer) a go-pretty much the same colour but with loads more sheen. I got my bottle from Pure Pens.

    What pen do you use to test these inks? Do you have to clean it every time you do a different ink?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 роки тому +1

      The pen is the William Shakour Titan, it’s a pen made by a UK Pen Collector William Shakour.
      I have a review of two of his Titan's at ua-cam.com/video/2lJrH6Y4Ebw/v-deo.html and another one at ua-cam.com/video/dweMrPGta5s/v-deo.html
      He doesn’t have a website, he’s on Instagram as instagram.com/williamshakour and can make pens to order.
      Yes I clean the nib/pen before each ink thoroughly.
