- Mita Nag wrote personally to Pandit Ravishankar in the autumn of 2004 seeking his date for an interview where she requested the legendary sitarist to reminisce her grandfather Sangeetacharya Gokul Nag , doyen of Bishnupur Gharana. The Sitar Star had spent a short period of his early youth in intermittent company with this self absorbed Guru of Bishnupur when Gokul Nag had joined danseuse Uday Shankar’s troupe as a musician. That was a period around 1934- 1937. It was a moment of great expectation for Mita when Raviji immediately replied her letter asking her to meet him at his residence in Delhi at Chanakyapuri on March25,2005 where Mita met the Legend alongwith her mother Rita and brother Subhasish.
This interview , a property of Gokul Nag Memorial Foundation Trust,is being published and uploaded digitally for the first time on the occasion of Padmashree Pandit Manilal Nag’s 82nd Birthday.
The interview appears in its original unedited version , as promised to Revered Ravi Shankar by Mita.
