I keep getting a purge valve, solenoid circuit code, and an EGR code that won’t go away even though I replaced them and they’re brand new. It’s not all the time ,it’s may be like once every two weeks .I just keep clearing it .This weekend I will clean ,change and check every single ground on my 2006 Crown Vic. Thank you for this video. Thank you thank you thank you.
Watching your video makes me curious if I could be having the same issue. I have 3 codes that keep appearing on my 2008 Crown Victoria, P061B, P0451, and P0642. I’ve gotten a new PCM and updated it, switched out the air filter, switched out the throttle positioning sensor, and switched out the accelerator pedal. I then took it to Ford and they said it was a wiring harness issue so I got another harness and switched it out too and now the same problems are all back. I’m not sure if it could be the MAF or maybe it really is just a grounding issue. Sorry for the huge message.
Hey no problem. These tend to be headaches we all deal with. The only solution I found was tracking it back to what pin was the issue. Still had a few PCM's go bad. Recently I added a ground at the alternator. It seems to have made the biggest difference. I don't know. Maybe this whole time the alternator was grounding out to the PCM.
I just found this strap busted. I got like 12 codes as of recently and checked EVERYTHING and reset the code. The thing is the 12 codes return before the cycle ends of the computer system. Im gonna replace it this week hopefully it fixes it.
I’m having a huge issue with my 98 P71 I have been rebuilding. New tank/filter/ pump. Almost everything to do at the engine top end and intake has been replaced (manifold, coils, maf, iac, egr, etc…) Everytime I say, floor the throttle and then come to a stop I lose all power. Even made sure it wasn’t the breaks, I had it in park after it almost shut down, reved up to about 4-5k then let go and it shut down again. I notice headlights dim as well at night when it happens.
@@bcbp14 I haven’t had a no start issue. It starts up pretty instant. Just likes to stall out when I stop to quickly or if I gun it and then I come to a stop. To save it I just have to tap the gas lightly and it’ll catch itself most of the time.
Thank you. I used to like this car. New battery, belt, rebuilt alternator by local reputable shop. Mechanic has put 2 reman starters on & still no start again today. No dash lights on. I’d have thought he’d check grounds, idk. He’s a former Ford tech. I weep.
It’s a new day. Watched more videos …. Apparently Fords of a certain era can have a sloppy column shifter over time. And the shifter cable bracket under the dash (2 T30 bolts) comes loose. If so, the vehicles can be started in neutral. That, or the neutral safety switch is out of adjustment, or bad. I will try today. Doesn’t obviously explain why the jump helps however. It would be such a nice birthday gift if it’s this simple! Or maybe it will help someone else.
@maryk4588 Oh ya! The whole steering column is junk. Mine had the rusty lower shaft. And the cheesy plastic lower bearing came undone. And as I was making a left, It locked heading me into on coming traffic. But I was able to use its horsepower to spin it out. And I ended up safely in the desert next to the road. I did my own mode to fix it. But I don't want to share it for liability reasons.
I cant find anywhere that has a replacement just like this. Do you think you can help me with a suggestion? I appreciate the video so much. Mine is just dangling there.
Would anyone know where the grounds are in the interior of a 2001 crown vic? I have no interior lights. Only have break lights. Have replaced everything possible still no lights. Only thing left is the interior grounds in the dash and not sure where they are located. Thanks
Which lights exactly? There is a light control module under the dash. Next to the pedals. Also, what model? Police cars don't tech have interior lights.
@@ReverseGear 10-4 i have a 06 p71 cluster is out except for the fuel gauge and back lighting, hazards turn signals are working fine. Already replaced the cluster now I'm looking at wiring issues.
Just run an old battery cable instead. It took 2 extra grounds to fix my car. There's one directly to the alternator mount. I think that's the one that fixed my problem. The other one was replacing the battery thin body ground. With a battery cable, too. Pinto rule!

That is what I was going through. I took the extreme route eventually. And rewired the engine completely. With best junk yard pieces.

My 06 Crown Vic Instrument Cluster works off and on. Feels like a ground issue yeah? Where are the grounds located for the cluster? Thanks
I think it's the bad soldering done to them. Search on UA-cam. I can't remember the guy. But even half blind. I was able to fix mine too.
I have that on my grand marquis 2001 😓 some time charging 14,3v most of the time charging at 13,0 v to 12,7
Would that cause the issue of getting shocked I get shocked every time I open my door and get out

Does it randomly crank no start then totally drain the battery?

Would this cause my instrument cluster to flicker or go in and out? I've already replaced the fuse and hoping it's not the whole cluster.
Unfortunately, mine had poorly soldier from the factory. That eventually went bad. It's really hard to fix those tiny circuits.
I cant find anywhere that has a replacement just like this. Do you think you can help me with a suggestion? I appreciate the video so much. Mine is just dangling there.
I just added a double eyelet battery cable. And recently, a second one to the alternator grounded body too.
Would this cause your car to not start?
My crown Vic 2008 is throwing 13 low voltage codes I’ve changed the sensors also a pcm from a pic and pull off the same year car
Did you measure the volt at the alternator?
Yes it’s telling me like above 14
I put a ground from the frame to the engine also from the alternator to the battery
Okay, do you have access to a scan tool? To see what it reads the voltage the PCM is getting? (This will test hardware versus software)
Did you end up drilling a hole ?
No ran a ground to the alternator
@@ReverseGear So from that spot all the way to the alternator or should I run a wire directly form the alternator to the battery or battery ground

it could of fell off. Or a previous owner removed it. You can always just add a quality ground. No such thing as too many.
