Welll... It's quite noticeable how Kendridck gradually got better on live since the Overly Dedicated tour so far. His performances of "i" and "These Walls" one live are at the peak. I watch "i" almost every day.
+Igor Mendonca literally just finished watching the "i" performance on SNL, there is no comparison which is better. TPAB is much better now that I look back.
+Review X Hunter look at his performance with prince or k.dot at jimmy fallons playing untitled or his perfomance at ellen's or colberts, and not to mention his grammy perfomances. to the best of my knowledge this seems as his worst performance ever. he's more aggressive and confident on other live events while he seems a bit off and awkward on this one
In the song, when he says "dive', he extends the first sound to make it sound like "die." It's pretty much a double meaning for how drinking so much alcohol leads to death. You can sorta notice it in the regular version of the song, but here in the live version, he makes it more noticeable.
Kendrick has got to be one of, if not the best, modern rappers. The way he actually sings in his songs and the beats... Those instrumentals just trigger so many memories. You can just turn on his music, relax, and it just triggers so many memories. Swimming pools and ADHD are some of the best rap songs in YEARS!
This comment aged well because while gkmc and tpab are his best and those had already come out when this comment released.... Damn and Mr.Morale were still great albums and the ladder was released slightly over a decade after GKMC released, proving that he still has it
K.Dot hasn't released a new album since 2012 and his songs are still on the radio and getting played by people everyday. It's going to be hard to make a better album than good kid m.A.A.d city but we know he'll do it.
going into his next album i am not going to compare it to good kid m.A.A.d city. Cause there is a good chance i am going to be dissapointed if i do that.
I love Kendrick, but i think he should try to preform using the high-pitched voice he has and we love. I just like it more than his lower-pitched voice. I think itz more uniqe ;)
Ayrricka Street It might be just a little bit or something, but i've seen him preforming Poetic Justice live and there he used some of his high pitched voice
This was my first exposure to Kendrick Lamar and I was hooked immediately. Something was just so mesmerizing about it all to my little 13 year old brain. When I turned 16 and got a job lifeguarding part of my first paycheck paid for TPAB on ITunes. Never stopped being a fan. Kendrick’s influence not just on rap but on so much of my generation really can’t be understated. What a man, what a legend.
i like how he switches up his flow a lil bit here....even if ppl dont like it as much as the original, it still shows he has a variety of talent and can do anything with his songs (the band in the background, case and point!)
How much he’s changed since the times when “Swimming pools” was released. Still the king in my humble opinion. One of the best rappers on stage ever. Love🖤
It's odd to press rewind and just see how Kendrick has become his true self and found his musical ideal, using his immense talent to chase that ideal and accomplish it.
i love his twist on his on songs when hes doing it live...he personally kills it...you are able to see the true talent this man has especially by his band....WHICH IS INCREDIBLE...nough said
Tyra Jakachira i love this type of comment so much!!! I love kendrick for this reason... Insane artist, humble and talented. A band bring alot of energy to a song... Just a DJ who screm your name all the time not worth a full band experience!
Old school here loving this brotha right here, real lyrics feel so good to hear. I gave up on hip hop for a long while( tho some exceptions) til the 1st time I heard this dude. I'm not from Cali but its so good to see & hear somebody representin ''CITY OF COMPTON'' again. Hope this yung brotha keeps his head on straight, so much talent.
Michelle Menthen Mac Miller also does the same thing with The Internet. It totally changes how his songs sound, it's great. You should check out the album version of Objects In The Mirror and then compare it to the Space Migration version of the same song. I prefer it live over the studio version.
Wow this live version incorporates some of the double entendres people talked about in the song. In the first verse, "I see the crowd mood [moved]" references the change in culture where casual drinking has been overtaken by the need to get drunk every night. In the hook, "[...] then you dive [die] in it" makes it much clearer that he is actually being critical of people's excessive drinking (ironically, this song is extremely popular at clubs where people are doing just that). K.dot is great.
I feel like Kendrick is the next fucking KENDRICK! How about we stop saying shit like "kendrick is the best rapper to live" and "kendrick is the next 2pac". Every rapper to ever spit adds a new flavor to the scene. We either like the taste or we don't. But that's not the point. All of these different flavors make up the collective hip-hop community. You wouldn't say to an artist that their work is "better then Picasso" or "on par with", (or that "they are the next Picasso") and in the same respects you wouldn't tell an artist that "they are not as good as Picasso". ART is ART. It should not be compared or critiqued based on what others have done before, but should be respected and enjoyed in the moment, taking everything the artist has to offer. In the same light, we (the appreciators of art) should appreciate every MC and producer for who they are, and what unique taste they bring to the collective culture of hip-hop.
Well, this is raw, live performance. What did you expect? Besides, he raps, doesn't sing, therefore the chorus and bridge sound different in the album to make things appealing. But live, he won't have all those effects and tools with him. It'll be raw.
Or Kendrick Teams Up With Crush 40 To Create The Ultimate Sound Rap-Rock Fused Heck The Sonic Boom (Crush 40 & Cash Cash Remix Feat Kendrick Lamar) Would've Been Dope
I appreciate the fact that he changed up the song a bit, putting a bit more enthusiasm in the lyrics and even going over the chorus, it sounds really nice.
People before you comment on the crowds participation, first consider the sound being filtered straight from the mics then think about a SNL audience demographic. I'd assume 80% are middle age white. Not a bad thing, just dont expect people to be yelling and screaming
That crowd is so weak. Shit, if I was their i'd be reciting the lyrics with Kendrick. The performer feeds off of the crowd's energy. If there isn't any there, what's the point in performing? Respect to Kendrick still performing even with that shitty crowd.
People saying that he looks drunk or high, performing can almost be euphoric there's a certain spine tingling feeling you get that only people who do things such as dance, sing, rap, or other things from the fine arts category get. I believe that Kendrick Lamar is an extremely intelligent man and a breath of fresh are to the rap community. In short I think Kendrick Lamar is the shit!
I'm a big Kendrick fan, I've been listening to his music ever since he dropped his 1st album. I've been to one of his concerts, and if you plan on going as well, he does sound different but not exactly In a bad way.
It's a duet featuring Kendrick Lamar and Kendrick Lamar
+1
Only Kendrick Lamar Might Be Rapping Over It

It's amazing to see how much he's changed in terms of stage performance
ThisIsNotMyID withJaveable Trust me I went to his concert early this year. He is lit on stage.
Jack Duckworth I know, saw him in london this year it was amazing
hes also on a major tv show, im sure the producers asked him to be on his best behavior and or he didnt want to be too live
Axberka compare this snl performance to his i performance
He's getting more confident on stage. The greats become godlike on stage once they reach peak confidence and get the experience.
bruh he's his own hypeman

I think it was probably cause he was on something LOL. He had his performance game on you can tell cause he was wearing them black contacts.
Igor Mendonca Link?
He killed that 2nd verse.
Pretty much yeah
Ok, now open your mind and listen to me Kendrick.
@@jonporter1233im in your conscience rn if you do not here me then youll be history, kendrick
Here in 2024, after the world finally realized that Kendrick is king
I love this version, all the live instruments made it so soulful.
Ahhhh that guitar in the 2nd verse is tight. It's so simple yet, so great ahaha
oh my god yeah! I came to watch this just for that guitar (and the end part too) haha :)
Otto Ravn ikr! ahaha
Damn this is everything. Sounds so good :)
In the song, when he says "dive', he extends the first sound to make it sound like "die." It's pretty much a double meaning for how drinking so much alcohol leads to death. You can sorta notice it in the regular version of the song, but here in the live version, he makes it more noticeable.

true
Not one of the best, he IS the best modern rapper, his lyricism and flow are unmatchable to today's artists
This comment aged well because while gkmc and tpab are his best and those had already come out when this comment released.... Damn and Mr.Morale were still great albums and the ladder was released slightly over a decade after GKMC released, proving that he still has it
Swimming pools and adhd? U must be here from gta v then
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH. BEST KENDRICK SONG EVER IMO
don't see too many hip-hop artists performing with real instruments on stage. much respect, kendrick.
11 years late but yup I agree man
all the big hip hop artists do it lol. It doesn't mean anything tho if you have backing vocals playing, it defeats the purpose of being " Live "
Crazy to see how far he’s come from his most recent snl preformance
K.Dot hasn't released a new album since 2012 and his songs are still on the radio and getting played by people everyday. It's going to be hard to make a better album than good kid m.A.A.d city but we know he'll do it.

Keith Sanders But according to the Grammy's voters, Macklemore's Heist is better...
Joe Barry
goddamn don't even remind me
Joe Barry I know it was bullshit they voted for Macklemore's album instead of Kendrick's.
I will always love this performance. the passion. It's refreshing.
its inspirating
+jdam fa.npage
He's one of few rappers, that can perform in such a great way right now. Inspiration in all kinds...
Shame he didn't do the extended version. The part added to it is fucking awesome.
This Version Of Swimming Pools Should've Been Saints Row IV
I love Kendrick, but i think he should try to preform using the high-pitched voice he has and we love.
I just like it more than his lower-pitched voice. I think itz more uniqe ;)
Tupac Shakur thats his actual voice???
Ayrricka Street The high pitched one? Yeah
Tupac Shakur wow. i thought that was autotune or something. talk about talent lol
Ayrricka Street It might be just a little bit or something, but i've seen him preforming Poetic Justice live and there he used some of his high pitched voice
Did he do it for you after he read you the Butterfly poem?

First time listening Kendrick Lamar. Watch music video swimming pool bet.amazing music
Its undeniable now, infact he is now arguably the greatest to ever do it
i like how he switches up his flow a lil bit here....even if ppl dont like it as much as the original, it still shows he has a variety of talent and can do anything with his songs (the band in the background, case and point!)
Aw he looks sooo young!
Nigga missed on the first "drank" and kept going with it the whole song lmao kendrick.
kinda sounds intentional tho

Kendrick might have shown the most growth of any artist/performer in a single decade that I've ever seen.
Mac Miller #2 in this regard
