Looking at the horn list and some of the CSX engines say “original valve”, are the newer valves the reason why most of the CSX GEs sound like EMD wannabes?
while it is in the CN paint, the lead locomotive is still an ex-illinois central SD70 locomotive, which has the reporting mark IC under the number, still making it reported as an IC loco. CN has many of these repaints in their fleet, including ones with reporting marks from different fallen flags, such as GTW, EJE, and some even DMIR and BLE. The reason being is that CN has actually bought out all the railroads listed above, and these repaints are just leftover power back from when those railroads were still independent

yes. The increased pressure CSX has added has caused most CSX GEs to lose that fade most horns have and as you said sound like EMD wannabes.
