    I have tried to learn Turkish with Turkish teachers 4 times but have given up because I find the grammar is impossible. However, I think this programme is the BEST explanation of 2-way vowel harmony that I have ever experienced. Well done!

      I am also learning it. But Duolingo didn't really help. It confused me more. The best way to learn Turkish is Books and Video tutorials. And this way, learning turkish is way more easy.

      If your mother tongue is not an agglutinating language, you will never have a deep understanding for the harmonization of vowels in an agglutinating language. I am Hungarian and this gives me a distinct advantage in understanding. Yet you can still learn Turkish well by simply learning the required use of suffices and need not understand why it is required.

      Hello Aditi, as a Urdu/Hindi speaker, I'd suggest that when you get stuck on a grammar or word structure in Turkish, try to link it to Hindi how you'd make the sentence in Hindi. Urdu, modern Hindi and Turkish are much influenced by Farsi and it becomes an easier transition than learning through English rules only. For example "ki". Example Sonraki in English = "the one that's after", but Urdu/hindi, we can just say "Bad wala" which is the same in Turkish. Sonra = Baad, Ki = Waala/waali/waalay. Sonraki = Baad waala 💯

      You have made it easier- however, I have problems with how the initial message has so many suffixes and endings added on until I am not sure if we are past present me herhim we they plural and what goes where- not to mention beginning to ask questions properly or negate those questions- however, your instructions are invaluable and I hope to continue to improve!

    • @philiptait1478
      @philiptait1478 3 роки тому

      They are impossible, I have found, but I am British and other nationalities may find it easier. By the way, it’s Vowel Harmony, not Wovel Harmony. I have noticed that Turks have problems with pronouncing these 2 letters.

    In Hungarian, another agglutinating language, the exact same thing occurs. For example, in the case of a noun, there can be a suffix -val, or -vel. Their use depends on the other vowels in the noun: kocsival = with a car, but ekével = with a plough. Using the wrong -val, -vel suffices would sound terribly awkward.

      The same goes with Turkish. La,le: with ( actually we may use it separately: ile)
      Benimle: with me, benim ile
      Onunla:with him/her/it
      Onun ile

      It is easy. Check the last vowel of the word. E.g kitap, the last wowel is a , then you should use sız.
      Always check the last vowel
      A : sız
      E:siz
      I:sız
      İ:siz
      O:suz
      Ö:süz
      U::suz
      Ü:süz
      Toprak: the last vowel is a ,then it should take sız: topraksız
      Kalem:the last vowel is e, then it should take siz: kalemsiz…
