  • super nice ANALOG oscilloscope from 1999 dated from IC code,
manual said model was released in 1998 this unit here is in mint quality,
Funny this is Oscilloscope video 42 i release :-)
this compact scope is full of digital assist features you be very happy about,

I use auto generated subs, I go thru them my self, but i am far from perfect at finding all errors, so if you find errors worth fixing, please comment (or PM) with the TIME in the video you saw the error, i will be happy to fix it. This also apply to the Danish version.

i got my first friendly "complaint" today about releasing too many oscilloscope videos 🙂
lets look at the stats 43 scope videos, total 679 videos, = 6.3%
you dont need to see ALL videos i release.. if you feel you dont like scopes or this type of scope is not so relevant, simply skip the video ..
if you feel you need the daily dose of oz2cpu teardown, please go to the video section, browse thru the list, or use the searcher, then find another more cool, more fun, more relevant video to enjoy :-) at the moment my stash of instruments contain at least 10 more scopes, most of them contain something special to talk about,

Really useful information. I have just got one of these for £5 off a car boot sale (like a yard sale for US people). I just bought it for the case and was going to gut it, not expecting it to work but I plugged it in and added a probe, twiddled some knobs & it shows things. I am a total novice with oscilloscopes so thanks for giving me an idea how to check for accuracy. I have a signal generator on order & I hope to use it to learn a little more.

I don't know about oscilloscopes, but this is a good video 👍

Dear Thomas, I have got this scope v1565 but have a problem with a single sweep measurement on it. In this video you did not try to measure single signal. Could you help me about this single signal measurement?

Love these scopes...do you have one of the HP 100mhz storage CRT oscilloscopes? I forget the exact model.

yes i got, both analog storage in the crt, and also digital storage types, it is possible to search my channel, but I also got a few more scopes ready to play with and make a video, so stay tuned more will come, so far i count 48 oscilloscope videos :-)

Hello does that selector switch have "resistance" that keeps it centered? I have the V 1060 and it's selector switch stays in the up or down position and it hardly responds when I use it. I have to flip it up 5 times to get it to go up once and I cannot make it go down the list of selections. I'm wondering if it's just really worn out? Sucks because the scope is mint and functuons beautifully.

i think your switch is the same, it should be centered, and respond to each side push, you need to take the sw apart, and see why it failed, it is a mecanical problem

Hi Thomas, Hitachi used to make some nice equipment, I used to have a HiFi studio from this company and it was great. I like analog oscilloscopes with digital functions, your oscilloscope looks like new, the integrated frequency meter is perfect, I have to recalculate it on my Tek 2465 (four channels 300MHz), but then again I have other functions (type A or B can already do direct display too). Does this oscilloscope have a backup battery, mine doesn't - therefore it can't do some advanced digital functions (but then again I don't have to worry about battery life and replacement). Switching cursors in the rotary menu seems to me an unfortunate solution, I have one button for the voltage cursor and the other for the time cursor. When I get home I'll try to display CHOP of the same signals on my oscilloscope and see what it shows - then I'll write.
    Nice day 🙂 Tom

i did not find a battery, i call this luck, since units with batteries always give me pains when they are old, i do see mostly older units :-) i became a master in time to freq calculations in head when i used only analog scopes :-) so of course this is the first feature to implement in digitally assisted analog scopes :-)

@@TeardownOZ2CPU don't know about Hitachi, but for example the first versions of the Trktronix 2465A (perhaps also B) had a battery integrated in the memory, and that's only a problem. In addition, their backup batteries do not have a discharge curve that warns of the need for replacement, they stay at about 85% the entire time of operation and then suddenly 😭 you have no calibration data.
Edit: I envy you the recalculation in your head, I'm slower at calculations

There is nothing wrong with CHOP mode or the alternate delayed sweep. These displays do not depend on the input frequency, but they do depend on the sweep rates. For CHOP, you picked a sweep rate which was close to the chopping frequency. Tektronix oscilloscopes will do the same thing if the sweep is close in frequency to the CHOP frequency.
