Wonderful video- You described exactly what it is I have been experiencing for about 18 months. I would say I am in late stage 2, but slowly getting better. I have been scoped, and am seeing a speech pathologist, but stumbled over a thing that has helped a lot and I have never heard mentioned. I realized I couldn't whistle( and I always loved whistling) I started stretching my tongue...sticking it out as far as I can and holding it there and then side to side...it has helped immensely...and I can whistle and my muscle tension issue has begun to relax...now going down the rabbit hole and watching all your vids. Thank you very much.
So when you get to that point. Third stage with the V, what do you do to rectify, when your voice is tight....I'm a singer. And certain sing I can sing now, what can I do to sing my Ole song Zelda Thomas UA-cam PLEASE HELP..... I still have shows to do I would like to do aleast 4 quality songs
Based on these full descriptions, I'm pretty sure I am in stage 2 right now. What should I do? I have been following video exercises on youtube, but what are the best ways to move forward?
im on stage 2 been like this for 4 weeks and im so tired i can talk perfectly i just cannot sing right, idk what to do i went to the doctor and my vocal chords are fine and he just said oh u got tension and i dont find any way to fix this ;(
I've been suffering horribly from this for 4 years. Talking is the issue. If I talk forcibly or sing, I have no issues. It's just talking and it is terrible. There are some exercises I'll occasionally do to help a little, but I have just dealt with it.. it's like a death spiral that can't be broken. Ah!
I was diagnosed with functional aphonia, and the ENT didn’t even tell me that, he said it was “stress.” The speech therapist says she thinks this is what it is but can’t diagnose me. My primary care provider literally laughed when I told her the ENT said it was stress. I’m glad I’ve learned what this is so I can tell her he’s not lying and I’m not crazy. She gave me a steroid to the back of the throat that honestly just made it worse.
Same..mine tried to pawn mine off as allergies and kept wanting me to take different allergy sprays and when that didn't work steroids which I refused..glad I did...got diagnosed with dysphonia and dysphagia. I swear ENTs are useless sometimes..they refused to believe it was anything else >.>
I think I'm somewhere between stage 2 and 3 🥺 I have this for about a year now and it started June last year :((( I went to an ENT doctor but I was advised to take SWAB first :( since I can't afford swab testing that time, I didn't go back to him. Huhuhu right now I'm still working on a famous fastfood store named Jollibee as a cashier there and I use my voice so much. I just wanted to learn things that can help me get out of this MTD :((((
hi, I suffered spasmodic dysphonia before.. it started february lastyear and now I recovered my voice back. I think it might help if you minimize talking, coz if you talk too much, it will only worsen your voice..Just from my experience..😀
@JJ it took me one year to recover. yes speech theraphy is a could be a big help, but me I did not undergo it, I just watched different kinds of voice excercise
It's very difficult. I've tried to relay this to people close to me and they just don't understand. I tend to think the perfect cure would be 1. eat and live healthy (exercise too) 2. consistent sleep schedule 3. remove stress and worry 4. try to do things you're gifted at... enjoy what you enjoy It's not easy and even I don't follow my own advice. Might take drastic life changes.. even completely.

Mine is in speaking, DAILY 🥺🙃
you talk a lot about emotional stress... how much of MTD is emotional stress and how much is really functional?
