hay bud just checking in, nice to see your home hope you and wife had a good time up north. its always been home, im probably going to sell my service truck i picked up a 1994 f250 turbo idi 7.3 4x4 so i will probably put a flatbed on it with boxes instead. i will try to get some vidjas of where were at in longbeach down by you. steep and junky :)
@tttco lol, I have scoured this casing and looked in manuals, forums etc. I seriously don't think mine has one. The manuals show it below the sight plug on the side about 3" forward, some say its mixed with gearbox, but I know that's not true because i drained gearbox today and it's still visable in winch. Others tell me it's behind the gear box which makes zero sense. I might just Crack open the side and drain jt out the bottom and reseal. I looked everywhere had a friend look as well. Any specific location?
@@Mountaintoptractor yes on the bottom next to the bolts that it is bolted down to. Mine I had to go under the skidder and it would drain on the driveshaft conveniently enough to make a mess.
@tttco I will give it a second look there, my Fuel cell is directly under the winch with very little room there. I don't think the fuel call can be moved, I think the whole winch would have to come off. I will recheck
The brake bands have no adjustment, the large springs applies pressure to the brake bands via the the linkage inside the winch has no adjustment. Band thickness, anchor and pivot pins “dog bones “ that have excessive wear all contribute to these winches not holding a load. I’ve seen a a brake drum so badly worn that new bands and hardware didn’t have enough squeezing power to hold. Also a partially seized brake release cylinder that won’t let the spring travel to it’s natural brake position will also not let the winch hold under load. Hope this helps.

I have similiar winch, where is the drain plug on yours?
At the bottom of the winch under the mounting bracket.

Haha congrats on the business lic.
I've cut my teeth working on those gearamatic 19 winches : / are you still looking for gearamatic parts ?
I have a gearmatic 19 winch on the back of my bulldozer. It does not work but I have not taken it apart yet. Is there anything I should look for?
Is it hard to adjust the winch brake? I looked at a skidder and the winch pulls good and free wheels super easy but the winch won’t hold at all
